Shiny Celebi Doesn't Exist in Pokemon FireRed. Here's how I found it.

- In generation 3 Celebi shiny form stands alone as the only shiny locked pokemon. However, with the help of some glitches, today we still found a way to hunt it and add it to our collection in Pokemon FireRed!

There are 386 Pokemon in Gen 3, so let's all pretend that is what I said instead of 396 :)

Describing the process as a, "playground rumor you'd hear as a kid" now makes me wonder if some of those playground rumors actually hold merits due to how hyper-specific they are, but they don't happen to the average person because of specific circumstances that they don't know the full logistics of because of one or more additional steps.
The long range trainer mew trick from Gen 1 was legit and sounds absolutely wild when you read it so there could be someone out there who stumbled onto something at some point and no one ever believed them.

The mew glitch was a real thing when I was a kid , only a select few had access to the internet back than so nobody believed it 😂
Appropriate that the Celebi says it was hatched in the Underground Path, because you took an 'underground path' to get it!

This specific method has a nature lock, you need a whole different sequence for picking up a specific nature/IVs ETC

My first time ever seeing this hunt. During the initial set-up I was thinking to myself that it'd be funny if someone ran into a shiny during the pond surfing part... not realizing a few minutes later that those encounters would be essential for the hunt itself 😂

that's where that verison originated but it's pretty much just a normal phrase rather than a refernce at this point

Celebis shiny has always been available, it just wasn't meant to be obtained in generation 3 via the bonus disk from Japanese colloseum.

lol came for a Terraria video, left with a Pokemon one. Every time I watch a video about Pokemon glitches, I can't help but wonder how people randomly discover them.
I hunted the given togepi egg from isle 5 in a similar fashion using pomeg glitch to check shinyness. Thankfully there's a trainer on the same patch of land you get the egg in because I'd have been so stressed out to randomly get another shiny.

I kept thinking "can't you reset for one with the event in GSC?" then I remembered you couldn't transfer gen 2 to gen 3 for some reason
Hardware limitations and the Pokemon's substructure is completely different.
For reference, pokemon starting in gen 3 have personalities, which dictates a lot about the Mon until gen 6 (ability, nature, shinyness, gender...) but they don't have in gen 2, so it'd be difficult to keep them the same.
Obviously it's not impossible since they did it eventually in the 3ds, but they didn't have the hardware to connect GBA and GBC back then, so it would've been pointless anyway.
Gen 3+ cross generational transfer is easier bc the new data is added on top of the old one, so the conversion just sets any new info to default values

When I was a kid I heard rumors about being able to hatch a Celebi from an egg produced by Haunter and Misdrevous in Gen2. Nobody pulled it off back then so I thought it was fake, but I guess it could've reffered to a similar glitch

All of these preparations and actions just to get a specific creature literally is the equivalent of black magic. Like that’s all so strange and specific and eventually allows you to bend reality in game to achieve the unacheivable. lol genuinely wonder how people figure these things out because of that

Actually, you could also get it from a few distrubution events. Which if you're playing on an emulator, you can use the fan made disturbution roms which recreated those original disturbution pokemon
