Dude, THANK YOU so much. It's crazy that Roland released these keyboards with zero promotion and even more frustratingly, ZERO support videos. They sound great and have so much potential but there's almost no info on them online.

Thanks for the vid. On my GoGkeys3, I have noticed a bug I think. When I want to rename a midi recording, it corrupts the file and it only displays the first two bars of the song, and the song is lost. Another thing I would LOVE to see in a future firmware update would be the possibility to set 5 custom instruments for EACH scene, instead of a single global setting. That would make the instrument much more usable live.
Just like on the Yamaha PSR SX600 and higher!

Yes, 5 favs per scene. And some shortcut to go to the bottom of a list faster (like shit+scroll on other gear). The selection wheel will wear out quickly I think.
Yep, same bug on the 5 (not surprising). Renaming WAV is fine....

Re Chord Seq - the Zoom button allows u to put in more than one chord in a measure, upto 1 chord per beat.
Can you tell me how many of the effects can be on simultaneously? Thanks.

The global effects are, but I think a patch can still have it's own effects, I don't hear them change when a second patch/layer is added.
From what I can determine on the owners manual, each single tone can have only one effect active (mfx). Then the scene can have one total effect active plus reverb. So, essentially 2 effects plus reverb altogether. I'd like to see this tested and confirmed if possible.

Thank you so much for this, very well done. I'm glad you didn't do it too slowly because we can always repeat something. My main question is if you want to choose a sound and you know the # can't you just type the # in? Like if i'm on stage and i want to switch between organ and sax sound do i have to go to the menu, tab back and forth and then scroll through all the options to find the right sax sound? I think you said there are 5 "presets" you can assign sounds to but that's not very many if you are playing a large variety of cover songs, you know what i mean?

Is there a setting/button I can use to play notes that are automatically transposed? I'm looking to play school band parts on the fly that will match the different instruments.
could you make a complete sound test by category ? and explain the scene and favorite mode ? how to modify and save sounds in order for live performance ? thanks ?

How can i change the time mode for an effect? E.g. the 70s Suitcase Piano sound has set as default the FX "EP -> Tremolo" with tremolo speed "1/4". So it is synced to the BPM. But when i select the FX "EP -> Tremolo" on my own, I have just an absolute value in Hz for the speed. I cannot find out how to change time controlled effects to sync. In the total FX section there is a parameter for that, but not for the tone effects.
Can the GK3/5 USB Host a midi controller (like the FP-E50 can).... ie to use knob/fader to send midi CCs to affect/adjust the current sound?
As far as I know the USB connector(s, the 5 has 2, one dedicated to the cloud adapter) is only for the cloud adapter and an USB mem stick. I dare not try any other stuff I must admit... 😬

@@mungewell "Modulation". But it has no mod wheel. Just pitch-bend. Can you control modulation from an expression pedal? I guess, yes. If so, this makes it even more interesting
So it just has 1 MIDI channel to record right? There is no possibility of recording a 16 Midi tracks' project as with a workstation, unless you record the different tracks in audio. Still nice that it can record 1 Midi track and multiple audio tracks too
Yes, recording (and possibly edtiting) more probably makes it too much of a "budget Fantom" 😁

You can add style packs. No clue about the ex30....

That wasn't the purpose of the video. There's one of someone playing all the presets.
Masataka Kono plays all the sounds, he is an excellent jazz lounge pianist too btw, and has already a bunch of digital pianos/keyboards all sounds playthrough videos.

How do you import a .MID file to play on the GoKeys? This seems like a silly thing for Roland to omit, but I can't find this documented anywhere! Can it only import .WAV and no .MID files I acquired from the Web?
Yes so far midi can only be on internal memory :(. On the other hand Chord Patterns are simple .csv files you can easily edit.
Strange, yes. The OG can so this. You can import .wav files.
Just bought this keyboard. How do I access the other effects aside from the 15 Total Effects listed?
You mean efx per patch? On the home screen, press the "settings" key under the screen and scroll down.
@@Patric1976 The confusion is in the owners manual on page 30 vs page 55... I have all the fx available on page 30 but page 55 shows all these other fx...of which I haven’t a clue how to access. (You’re talking to a seasoned synthesizer operator here). It’s crazy:)

I can’t understand why Roland can’t put a couple of knobs, sliders and sequencer either with buttons or drum pads on this
Because of the cost of production. You get a fullfledged zencore synth engine in this thing for $500, even import of waveform expansions (!) from the Fantom series. I will get one to use live, compose in Zenbeats, transfer the same patches to the go keys 5. Really unique to be able to do this.
@@jenslempke7883 Yes, and if they did put all of that on it, why buy a Fantom? I'd then rather go on stage with 5 of these puppies 😁
