- For today's tutorial, I thought it'd be fun to share my two favorite messy buns.
Whenever I don't want to do my hair, I throw it into a messy bun. It's so simple and quick and I can usually get it right on the first try. I have featured these in tons of other tutorials but I love having a dedicated video just for this because I get asked all of the time how I do them.
There is an older tutorial showing how to do these but I tried to edit this one without any cuts so hopefully you can see what I'm doing more easily.

I love the first bun. But it's just so hard to do I've tried and tried but just can't seem to crack it 🤔

I loved both ways to create the bun. I am terrible at mine and looked around. At first I had a hard time seeing what the heck you did with your finger even seeing it in both camera directions. But then I tried it three times and I think I got it lol. It looks great. Best bun I ever did. Thks
Yasss!!! The first one is literally the EXACT way I do my hair every single time I wear a bun. And I learned it from you in a braided bun tutorial!! You taught me to love styling my hair by teaching me FUNCTIONAL ways to do it. Tucking the ends back in to the hair band is the simplest, most genius thing I’ve ever seen. It’s stupid how long it took me to figure out how you do it but it makes the biggest difference! You are the absolute best there is. Thank you, Missy!!!!!

Hey Missy i always do the 2nd one but I started pulling all my hair up like a regular ponytail then I spread my hair around it and use another hair bow to make the doughnut shape and use your same methods for the rest of the bun it’s so much easier👍

Hi Missy, thanks for the help. I found bun number two to be the easier of the two.
I love the first bun but I just can't figure out how to do the "flip" on the back of the bun where you create another loop. I've watched tons of tutorials but I'm still as confused if not more. I wish someone sat next to me and told me exactly where I go wrong so that I can finally learn this technique 😉

I know this is a year old. But she's basically twisting the hair around the band. To make two loops-- one hand holds the hair and the other twists the hair around the band (she puts her hand inside the rubber band to do this) then she pulls the band over the top. Hope that's the best explanation.

Love your channel! I’ve been a subscriber for a while. I love all of your braid videos. But for some reason, I’m braid challenged or I just don’t have the stamina to finish! 😫 your buns are my go-to! The second is what I’ve leaned towards for some time. I have naturally loose curly hair, and that version allows the curls to shine through the bun. ❤️
The first one is nearly impossible to do, but the second Is easier. Lovely girl, and great video, well explained .

I have been doing these buns for years, my only problem is I have super full and heavy hair, so I end up having to redo my buns 6 or more times a day. Has any found a reliable hair tire?

Me a dude with long hair who just doesn't want my neck to swamp up: "I need a messy bun to do in 1 second before I go down to the store for some eggs."
Her messy buns: "1 second setup, then 1 minute putting everything into place, then using some pins to hold things in place, then using hairspray to keep everything in place."
Me: "Ok, thanks, I'll take that 1 second, thanks."

Good job...but what of me my hair is hips size and dont know how to make messy bun. Must be noticed that I never get hair got anymore. Never ever lol

Somehow I invented a new messy bun for me, that is quite terrible, while I was trying to do the first one

I have tried for four hours to do this and I can’t. I’m also over 45. It looks so easy but I am going wrong somewhere and I can’t figure out where. It’s the last bit - it doesn’t stay in because there is no “bun”. Help anyone??!
First one is easy if you try hard enough and get the details right. First you need to brush you hair.
1. Tie them up in a ponytail by just making one loop. Dont leave the hair in that loop and straight jump to second step.
2. stretch the pony to one side. Use ur pinky finger,ring finger and middle one to stretch the pony.
3. Now wrap your thumb and index finger around the hair that is left hanging from the ponytail.
4. Turn that section of hair up the pony still stretching the pony and holding that section of hair. (While you turn your hair up over the other fingers, those fingers will themselves reach the place where you wrapped your index finger and thumb around the left section of hair)
5. Make another loop around the semi bun created first.
6. Make that bun fuller leaving your hair that were left pulled up over your face.
7. Wrap that section of hair around the bun now.
8. Fix it with bobby pins or bun pins.
