Beautiful! I love winters here in Utah, all of our Pine Trees are so Breathtaking Beautiful. And going up skiing in Park City with all of the Mountains, trees and Christmas lights Is absolutely gorgeous
Hi Kristina, I would like to add that I too tried this technique (I just received the tree stencil) and I stamped houses with Stampin Up die ink and colored the roofs with a red SU marker...both are die inks that I thought would dry completely, but the next day all of the snow on the roofs was red!!! I used the exact same paste as you. I did think about the distress inks and thought the same thing about them reactivating so that is why I used die ink, so not sure what to use now?? LOL. Love the card, you just gave me another idea for that stencil!
love love love these trees!!! maybe try a thin coat of matt medium over the ink. that will seal the color in from bleeding. i will definitely be trying this. fun fun fun!
I really enjoy this series that you have done for years!! I've learned so much from you and look forward to your videos! Thank you for sharing your ideas with us!
Very intrigued by this technique! Looks like I will have to get my stencil and texture paste and grit paste out and play! Thanks for the video and the inspiration!
Kristina you could also try the micro glaze through the stencil to put a barrier between the trees and the snow. that should keep whatever you put on top white. thanks as always for sharing.
These cards are so beautiful Kristina! I'm not sure I would have the patience using the texture paste and I know I wouldn't have the same results as you LOL! TFS
That third tree that you stamped looks like an overlay to put on the first tree that you stamped . You could have stenciled the white paste over the first tree for the snow. Does that make sense?
Gorgeous cards as usual. I love what you did the trees, I think this is a awesome way to use this beautiful stencil from Tim Holtz. I really love the snow effect.
Thanks for sharing the learning experience, I felt like the process was more organic and similar to what the common crafting mass goes through. It's like a "that happens to me too" moment.
I think you can also use the Distress Micro Glaze on top that will act as a seal and then apply the paste. I too get my emobssing paste stained when I use Distress Inks as first layer.
Your cards are so beautiful! I would not try to seal the distress ink with matte medium as was suggested, as it is also a liquid product that could smear the stamped image. Use Distress Micro Glaze--it is designed to seal Distress inks, stains, markers, and even watercolors and does not smear. A tiny amount does the job, and it is totally clear. Hope this helps! Thank you so much for sharing with us!
I love that you shared this even though you misinterpreted the layered stencils! An art teacher once told me there are no mistakes in art and to just roll with it. This is a perfect example of that! Turned out beautiful :)
This card is so beautiful! Kristina I want to be wherever that winter wonderland is. As I read a few of the comments I could see in my mind how that stencil of the faded tree could be used as an overlay for snow or even to add depth of color. I think a lot of Tim Holtz products are made to let your mind just go with it and not overthink it tfs.
That's exactly my thought too, Deborah, especially since that stencil is labeled as a "layering stencil." The partial tree(s) are meant to layer over the base tree to create the snow on the branches. I just ordered this stencil and can't wait to get it to try out myself. Beautiful trees, Kristina.
I think your trees are absolutely beautiful the way they turned out. Just LOVE them. Thanks for sharing this idea. I love your holiday card series. Thank you for all you share. I love your ideas.
I love love these! As far as the bleeding of the distress ink goes, I like to use distress glaze. I'm not entirely sure what it's made of, but it's a slightly waxy product. You apply a small amount of it over the inked area and rub it with your finger. It seals the distress ink in and then layering on top of it is much easier. Thanks for another great card inspiration!
What I tried was to ink the tree as normal but, when adding the 2nd layer, I put the 2nd layer stencil down and, with a finger dauber, went over it with Versamark and clear embossing powder and the clear embossing sealed in the ink below, then I added my texture paste...voila...no color bleed ! I might add that, by going over only the snowy part of the design with clear embossing powder, the tree itself remains a matte and the gloss of the clear embossing powder is hidden under the snow.
I love your work and it's fun to hear about the process to complete a card. It's nice to know that even an artist like you has a few mess ups now and then. I want that stencil.
This turned out great. I am sure there is a knack to the 'squish & flick' technique you did. I can only image how that would look if I did it! LOL (Pretty sure it wouldn't be beautiful as yours is.) Great job!
Both of the cards turned out great! I"m starting to make my Christmas cards, and these will be in my collection. Also while I was watching, I kinda messed on a card and I don't know how but the idea popped up in my head to add snowflakes to the mess up and the whole card. Thank you.
Love this!! I think the third stencil (slim tree) would maybe make a cool stencil for applying texture paste over the first larger tree. I am not good at free handing as you are, so that's how I would use it. I hope this set comes back in stock 🤞🏼.
I love your snowy trees‼️ I saw Bob Ross making snow tops with a sort of knife with a diagonal blade ... (sorry not nativ speeking tries to explain 😬) but it's a palette knife I think🤔
My thought for the texture paste would be to make a small wax paper piping bag...fill it, snip of the end and literally pipe on the 'frosting' :) Then use the palette knife to smooth it down. Just a thought! Absolutely love the idea of this and the cardstock colors!! Thank you for these beautiful card series, Kristina! Just discovered your work earlier this year and spent weeks watching through your previous years. My Mom, who is just really starting with branching out with her card designs, is thoroughly hooked and usually emails ME first about your new vids before I even get a chance to watch. Love it! THANK YOU for such detailed videos.
Thank you for being so open and honest with us. I know you don't like to show errors or mistakes or whatever but I'm so thankful that you were honest with us about what happened and that you were able to text Tim Holtz and he was honest with you. So thank you!! I appreciate that from you and other RUclips card makers more than anyone will ever know!!!! It seems you can't get the truth out of anyone these days so again I thank u!
Thanks for sharing the whole process. It helps to know that everything doesn't come out perfect for you as well! Trying not to beat myself up so much when things don't work out! It is hard to quiet the perfectionist inside. lol
Tim has that sealer stuff for distress inks - try smearing that over your inked trees before adding the snow? Micro glaze I think he called it. Fab cards too!
Watching you do this card was so much fun! Since I can only do a little card making because of an injury, i'm living vicariously through all of you. I really love these trees. Your method of putting the snow on turned out to be genius! Hugs, treen
Love the look of the snow covered trees on Kraft paper. I kinda chuckled when you told about what that tree stencil was designed for - oops; but, it worked.
Interesting... I thought the stencil was a 2 steps stencil (like a 2 steps stamp)... maybe I was wrong all along lol... nice techniques, i will try them ☺️
Paste & flick up... I've painters use this technique on clouds or froth on water. I think the green staining the paste might look interesting. Maybe you can show it on your blog? Looks like a great kit!
Great products. You show them very well. I love your tutorials, thank you
I use distress glaze over ink then texture paste so there was none inkbleeding or blending. Love your work Kristina!
They turned out so pretty though! Very lovely! Wishing you joy and happiness during this Holidays!!
I believe the tree with all the gaps is supposed to be used for the "snow" on top of the fuller tree
Yep! I figured that out later. :)
I thought I was the only one! ;)
I think the fact it's a two step stencil isn't immediately obvious - but the squish and flick technique .. perfect!!!
Beautiful! I love winters here in Utah, all of our Pine Trees are so Breathtaking Beautiful. And going up skiing in Park City with all of the Mountains, trees and Christmas lights Is absolutely gorgeous

Very pretty. Thanks for the tips on the textured paste.
love love love these trees!!! maybe try a thin coat of matt medium over the ink. that will seal the color in from bleeding. i will definitely be trying this. fun fun fun!
They both turned out really pretty. I like the fog card better. But thanks for sharing your experience.
My favorite of the series so far! Love the winter feel on this card!
i realize it's pretty randomly asking but do anyone know a good place to watch newly released tv shows online ?
@Allen Khari flixportal :D
@Griffin Enoch Thanks, I went there and it seems like a nice service :) Appreciate it !
@Allen Khari glad I could help :D
I honestly LOVED the first card better. But both are really nice!
I really enjoy this series that you have done for years!! I've learned so much from you and look forward to your videos! Thank you for sharing your ideas with us!
This is one of my favorite things you've ever done! Absolutely beautiful! And I love that the trees are NOT all the same color.
I love how you always finish off the "ground" on your cards. I don't always think about that.
Very intrigued by this technique! Looks like I will have to get my stencil and texture paste and grit paste out and play! Thanks for the video and the inspiration!
These turned out gorgeous!
I really like these cards and the techniques!

Yep! I figured that out later. Just trying to make things more difficult for myself. LOL!
53carlson ha, I was thinking the same :-)
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!!!!
Love watching your videos. Wish I was one-third the artist you are. Great snowy trees.
I love this card & the tecnique. Beautiful card

Thank you for the tip!
Squish and flick... who else thought of harry potter? Just me? Ok then *exits room awkwardly*

Absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!! LOVE THEM!! Thank you for sharing your talent and time.
I love that you shared this even though you misinterpreted the layered stencils! An art teacher once told me there are no mistakes in art and to just roll with it. This is a perfect example of that! Turned out beautiful :)
thank you so much for showing the whole thought process and thoughts along the way, to let us know that is not always perfectly planned :)
The trees look so pretty with the white snow. Love the way you are not afraid to experiment and give something a try.
Kristina, both of your cards are absolutely stunning. I'm definitely going to try this.
I really enjoyed this video. I enjoy all of your videos, but it was nice to hear your thought process as you made the cards.
all your cards look great! Congratulations!
Lovely. Always learn something new from you. TFS.
thanks for sharing your techniques and information on the products. Just love these cards :-)
Beautiful technique! Thanks for sharing everything including the bleeding of the ink on the paste. It helps others to know what to look out for.
I'm freaking out over this card! It's so organic and beautiful!
I pictured Hermione Granger making some Holiday cards when you said "squish and flick"
I really like the cards u make

Love them both. The glitter definitely makes them though. I sold all my glitter a few years ago. Think I need to get some new ones.
BEAUTIFUL!
I think your trees are absolutely beautiful the way they turned out. Just LOVE them. Thanks for sharing this idea. I love your holiday card series. Thank you for all you share. I love your ideas.
I love love these!

I feel like applying/manipulating the texture paste with your fingers would work better. But I’ve never tried it. So I’m not sure.
Thanks for keep it real, Kristina. You worked it out and they both look good! Happy Thanksgiving.
I would like to see you embrace the fact that the ink bleeds into the texture paste and see how that turns out
What I tried was to ink the tree as normal but, when adding the 2nd layer, I put the 2nd layer stencil down and, with a finger dauber, went over it with Versamark and clear embossing powder and the clear embossing sealed in the ink below, then I added my texture paste...voila...no color bleed ! The texture looks great and trees do get really covered with snow...it came out pretty good.
I love your work and it's fun to hear about the process to complete a card. It's nice to know that even an artist like you has a few mess ups now and then. I want that stencil.
I really doubted that would look good but you pulled it together to be a card I would be delighted to receive x
I think you could your tree three as a stencil for the snow on the other trees. Maybe that is what it is for.
This is such a great card.. All your cards have been so pretty. TFS
Kristina, These cards are beautiful! Thanks for sharing the process and what you have learned about this product.
I love your experiments on camera! I learned quite a bit from you over the last 8 years!! I loved how these turned out!
Love these cards! I'm so glad you let us know about the ink bleeding. Love that you are real!
This turned out great. I am sure there is a knack to the 'squish & flick' technique you did. I can only image how that would look if I did it! LOL (Pretty sure it wouldn't be beautiful as yours is.) Great job!
Wowwww I lov’it ..... 👏👏👏👏
That's fabulous , thank you for sharing.
Encouraging to see the learning process..
Absolutely beautiful! They look like those real old time Christmas cards! Thanks for sharing and stay blessed!
Trop Beau merci jackie
Both of the cards turned out great! I"m starting to make my Christmas cards, and these will be in my collection. Also while I was watching, I kinda messed on a card and I don't know how but the idea popped up in my head to add snowflakes to the mess up and the whole card. Thank you.
Very pretty!
Love how your cards turned out - they are gorgeous! And now I know to use the grit paste when my kit arrives!
i love your videos. thanks so so much for sharing your knowledge and experience :) its great for a newbie like me !!
it's a big pleasure to watch your work process
Love this!! I think the third stencil (slim tree) would maybe make a cool stencil for applying texture paste over the first larger tree. I am not good at free handing as you are, so that's how I would use it. I hope this set comes back in stock 🤞🏼.
I love your snowy trees‼️

I would make a hot mess trying to put the snow on those trees. But it was fun watching you do it. Pretty cards! TFS, Heather
I just texted my pal Tim holtz! Like no biggie! 😩😝
jessi howell 😂😂 I wish I could say that!!
Ha ha same!
jessi howell I thought the same thing about texting Tim Holtz. She just made all of RUclips swoon!!!
I had the same thought!
this is fab and funny - I thought only I would get things wrong re layering - I have this stencil so a great video for me - love the cards
I wonder if one could use a small metal pallet knife for painting; they are flexible and pointier some of them :)
Thanks for sharing your in depth experience with the products. I find that kind of detail very helpful.
Thanks for sharing the whole process. It helps to know that everything doesn't come out perfect for you as well! Trying not to beat myself up so much when things don't work out! It is hard to quiet the perfectionist inside. lol
Loved the video and the nail polish colour, too.
They turned out gorgeous, l loved them. . . 😎 😎 😎 thanks.
Tim has that sealer stuff for distress inks - try smearing that over your inked trees before adding the snow? Micro glaze I think he called it. Fab cards too!
Hi, Does the texture paste have an odour to it? Thank you
Bello gracias
Did anyone try a dye ink, NOT distress ink, and see if it bleeds? Thank you
Watching you do this card was so much fun!
It is a precious card and a cute technique of Christmas. THANK VERY MUCH
Your best cards ever. Love! Love!
I am horrible at texture paste and anything similar. Always a total disaster! you did great job!
Interesting... I thought the stencil was a 2 steps stencil (like a 2 steps stamp)... maybe I was wrong all along lol... nice techniques, i will try them ☺️
Beautiful cards, thanks for the tips using the texture paste.
Wish I could just "text Tim Holtz"!!! 😂
MsConnie6 me too! 😂
MsConnie6 I emailed him and he actually responded to me how cool is that!
heidi varden that's super impressive! I love that!
Heidi Varden-how did you get his email?
I love your Christmas series every yea it always inspires me to create new cards, thank you so much for doing it!
Super bravo
I love this effect. Thank you for sharing it.
its so nice.. #third
Paste & flick up... I've painters use this technique on clouds or froth on water. I think the green staining the paste might look interesting. Maybe you can show it on your blog? Looks like a great kit!
After finishing several X'mas cards, I told myself how about a Snow coved X'mas tree, then I watch this....
Thanks for your sharing, Werner.
I am so glad you went on with the hiccup and the card turned out BEAUTIFUL anyway! :)
