They were raw at this stage of their journey. They became more polished later on which was cool too but the rawness in the music back then really appeals to me.
@@anthonytaylor7928 This is definitely rawer than their later performances--and, like the original poster, I say that as a huge compliment. I prefer the early, raw EW&F to the later disco-tinged group.
@@anthonytaylor7928Actually, this is fairly early on. If you notice, RALPH JOHNSON is the drummer here, so this before Fred White joined the group as the second and eventual primary drummer. This is probably 1973 or ‘74. “Evil” was the lead single from their second Columbia album “Head To The Sky.” They hit their strips when Fred White joined for “That’s the Way of the World.”
"Little man?" Maybe it's the camera angle, but Nobody with EWF could be described as 'little man'. They were what I would describe as 'average size' for adult males.
Verdine White: Known for his great bass playing, not very know for his voice cuz he stopped signing back in the 80’s. Maurice White: know for his strong voice. Not very know for his percussion playing. Phillip Bailey: known for his athletic and high pitched voice. Not very know for his Congo playing. Al McKay: Known for his great guitar playing. Not very known for his voice because he stopped singing. Fred White: Known for his drumming. Ralph Johnson: Known for his singing. Not very known for his drumming because he stopped. Larry Dunn: Known for his piano playing. Andrew Woolfolk: Known for his Saxophone playing. Not very known for his singing cuz he stopped. Roland Bautista: Known for Guitar playing. Not known for singing cuz he stopped. Jonny Graham: Best known for his solo in the song “that’s the way of the world.”
Bought the 73 album and all the others. I am 72 now and have never stopped listening to EWF. Maurice was the glue and Bailey was the icing . Great band
Wow! Unbelievable! Evil just think of what was coming to us......... "That's the way of the world" "Gratitude" "Spirit" "I Am" "Faces" and so much more!
Miss these days, and the great black music of the late 60's and early 70's. It was real music with true messages 😯😳🤨🧐🤔
You not listening to the right music if you think it's not today too.
@jss1ca3 I agree. I hate how people can listen to a few mainstream modern songs, not like them, and then assume that ALL modern songs are like that.
Verdine and Al McKay breaking it down get down!

Became more polished??? Are u frickin serious?? They were frickin Megastars at this point
