  • Make A Door Wedge or Doorstop
Create a gift that should last a lifetime, out of cut-offs, whilst honing your hand tool skills.
Not only handy for holding a door open or closed, wedges can be used to split lumber, and hold workpieces on the bench.
Why not knock up a batch from figured off-cuts as presents, and from dense, straight grained hardwood, for use around the shop.

Thanks for the useful video! What is the slope again, please?

Andrei Gotia Hi Andrei. I find anything from 1:4 to 1:7 works fine, whatever angles they are. The shallow angles working best if the floor is slippery.

Thank you, Mitch. Forgive my ignorance, how do I calculate the ratio? Thanks again!

Andrei Gotia You could Google "slope angle to degrees conversion", or just use the height of the door stop multiplied by the bigger number in the slope ratio to give you the length of the sloped section
