I am not a huge Rhianna or Coldplay fan but there's something about this song and their chemistry in this video. Especially at the end of the video where they're both singing 'you really hurt me' and touching each other.Never would've thought to put these two together for a song but hey it worked.

Whole album is oddly overlooked. Did they think it was too commercial? It isn't imo. The mix of intimate songs and bangers and the whole concept album feeling is class. Potentially them at their peak. Charlie Brown, Paradise and this are just simply their best songs alongside Clocks, Yellow and Fix You. If they can play the KPOP song live this should be a staple of live gigs. It's wonderful.
OK my two cents worth, for the people who keep complaining about this clip for various reasons. The concept of black-clad assassins (so-called "ninjas" in Japan) and wandering warriors (so-called "ronin") are not uniquely Japanese - Chinese wuxia ("martial arts") movies have had them for ages. Granted, Chris Martin is holding a katana - that is Japanese - but given that he and Rihanna (in the role of the Princess of China) battle, he's clearly a foreigner who is both in love with her and also intruding upon her kingdom ("Turandot", anyone?). Even the opening shot is a homage to the Shaw Brothers Studio movies of the 60s and 70s. Just because you're not familiar with them does not make the video clip a mess. The multi-arm dance is a Chinese dance called the "Thousand-Armed Guanyin Dance", inspired by the Buddhist thousand-armed Bodhisattva of Compassion, Avalokiteshvara.

Whole album is oddly overlooked. Did they think it was too commercial? It isn't imo. The mix of intimate songs and bangers and the whole concept album feeling is class. Potentially them at their peak. Charlie Brown, Paradise and this are just simply their best songs alongside Clocks, Yellow and Fix You. If they can play the KPOP song live this should be a staple of live gigs. It's wonderful.

OK my two cents worth, for the people who keep complaining about this clip for various reasons. The concept of black-clad assassins (so-called "ninjas" in Japan) and wandering warriors (so-called "ronin") are not uniquely Japanese - Chinese wuxia ("martial arts") movies have had them for ages. Granted, Chris Martin is holding a katana - that is Japanese - but given that he and Rihanna (in the role of the Princess of China) battle, he's clearly a foreigner who is both in love with her and also intruding upon her kingdom ("Turandot", anyone?). The video clip combines elements from many Chinese wuxia and fantasy films. It is clearly a homage to the Chinese wuxia and fantasy genre movies such as "Hero", "House of Flying Daggers", "Swordsman II" and "A Chinese Ghost Story". Even the opening shot is a homage to the Shaw Brothers Studio movies of the 60s and 70s. Just because you're not familiar with them does not make the video clip a mess. The multi-arm dance is a Chinese dance called the "Thousand-Armed Guanyin Dance", inspired by the Buddhist thousand-armed Bodhisattva of Compassion, Avalokiteshvara.
