Tarnished Archeologist is my favorite soulsborne lore youtuber, the parallels he draws between history/real-life and the story of elden ring are ingenious and mind blowing.
You asked, what actually happens when we go to the Forge to burn something? If you remember, the entrance to the Erdtree is blocked by thorns. Check what they look like in game. They have the criss-cross pattern of Radagon. When Marika shattered the Elden Ring, Radagon tried to repair it. Which means they both have different views on the Erdtree, the faith and the Greater Will. Radagon blocks the path, so that nobody gets the Elden Ring, nobody becomes Elden Lord. This is why you need Giant's Flame. And who welcomes you when you burn the thorns and enter the Erdtree? On red-haired prick, who just doesn't know how to give up!)
Yeah, I had forgotten that the thorns were not the golden illusion. Feels like we are actually just burning the thorns, but the full giant visual of the tree burning as part of the illusion and religion... maybe. 🤔
There is that, and there is also the "bad" ending, the Lord of Frenzied Flame. The Erdtree there is just a stump, not the full grown tree. No more illusions.)
I will. I enjoy the TA vids a little more anyhow. More importantly, I cannot dedicate the time to be a "successful" RUclipsr, so I get to just react to the things I like and play the games I want without worrying about the views so much. I'd rather talk about stuff I like in the comments and in discord and truly enjoy it rather than chasing views.
Something I'd like to add from my own theory about burning the Erdtree and specifically why the illusory part is also burning, is that there are two Outer Gods at work in that moment. I believe TA talks about it in another video (maybe the next one? I'm catching up on your lore reactions and it's been a while since I've gone back through TA's catalog), but it really seems as if the giant golden illusion is only there if you are part of the faith and since we, the Tarnished, are guided by grace, that's why we can see it. Whether by choice or due to our resurrection by the Fingers, we are allowed to see the lingering power of the Greater Will. And the only flame that can burn it is that of the Giants and their One Eyed God. It honestly makes me wonder about the demigods during the Shattering and what they may have seen after becoming disillusioned and abandoned by the Greater Will. Did they still see the golden tree in the middle of the land? Or did some of them, likely Ranni, Rykard, Miquella and perhaps even Malenia, see the Erdtree for what it really was?
That's a really thoughtful idea. I've been thinking of the Erdtree as a metaphor of faith. As tarnished you lose the faith and watch it burn. Your explanation gives more empirical reasoning.
Wutang axe! XD That's canon now. Serosh was a member of the Wutang clan until Godfrey defeated him in an epic rap battle. Godfrey spit bars so hard that he broke Serosh's axe. XD
No where does it say that the Erdtree has burned before we the player does it, but there's ash in Leyndell long before that, which means at least SOMETHING has burned in the area, and given how spread the ash is in Leyndell, yet only Leyndell, implies it's the Erdtree, and indeed, what else could cause all that ash? Its not like there's a forest close by AND above the city that has burned, right? The illusary trees in the Mountaintops of the Giants are bit too far away.
I assumed it either burned in a cycle, like bloodborne, four. It was supposed to be ash from the dragon war. That might not make sense since it was supposed to be so long ago. More questions than answers.
the video gives no answer as to who could have burned the erdthree but my personal theory is that this may have happened in the war against the ancient dragons probably caused by the lightning power of Gransax's weapon but you can disagree if you wish and try to find another culprit
@@kabvrv The Burning of the three It's as necessary as death Marika tried to refuse this fact and this led to erdthree being nothing more than an illusion without giving more physical benefits like her dew Most likely there was a tree before erdthree that Marika destroyed to start her era and there will be another to replace it The person responsible for the burning may vary but will always come

This is what draws me to him again. I'm really enjoying these videos.

The next tarnished archaeologist video can be "what it takes to become a empyrean"?
Keep them coming. You have good recommendations.
I know these videos dont get as many views at the big Maxor and Vaati ones, but I hope you continue

Want a recommendation? My favorite videos are on Godfrey and its sequel on Serosh. Farum Azula is really good to get familiar with the real history
Yes! There are too many TA videos for me to run through then all, so I appreciate the rec.

For the children

I had a thought that it could be like Bloodborne where it is a never ending cycle of burning and regrowth.

Finally!
I told you I'd check it out!
