Pretty cards! On the first tree, I’m going to make a minor recommendation to anyone reading this comment. Wait until that first layer of Hookers green dries completely if you want all the bulbs bright red all over the tree. Reason is if wet red touches wet green watercolor you get brown. Blessings to you from a new subscriber! ❤
Yes this is not working for me😪.. even waiting a day, the red is re-wetting the green and picks it up.. into a brown.. do u think it's my paint? It's a Mungyo set I've been pretty happy with. I have ordered that vintage paper but I'm practicing on 140lb watercolor paper.. could that be part of it?? TY!! ✌️❤️
@@sarahfooth50 I'm sorry to hear that! It's really frustrating! 😔 I assume that your shades turn brown for these two reasons, but I'm unsure for sure because each case is unique. 1. Watercolor paints have a weak pigment, and they will quickly wash off upon contact with water and another color applied. 2. The paper does not absorb moisture well and the pigment cannot be fixed on the surface. I can recommend experimenting with different paints and paper because sometimes in combination some materials work together in different ways, so you can find what is right for you! 💖 My suggestion is to use a hairdryer to speed up the paper drying! I often use it because I don't like to wait long. 😀 Thank you for sharing it! I appreciate your experience! 🙏 I wish you good luck and believe that you will be able to make your own beautiful and unique card! 🙏 💖 Have a great day!
@@sarahfooth50 Hi Sarah, I also have the Munygo set and love that paint. What paper are you using? If it’s 140lb cold press that is 100% cotton all should be well. If you’re using a 140lb cold press cellulose paper that should also work (I recommend the Artisto brand). IOW, it’s likely not the paper my best guess is that your water to pigment ratio maybe be off. If your paint consistency is too thick, then all the drying in the world won’t prevent red and green turning brown. Try thinning out your paint to a tea consistency and slowly build up layers drying each layer completely in between. Start with the green, building up those layers until you obtain the saturation you want. It shouldn’t be more than 2 or 3 layers for this piece. Let the tree dry completely. Then start with the red bulbs using the same technique of building up layers and letting each layer dry completely in between. Tip: if your paint is cool to the touch, it’s not dry. Wait. It takes patience working with layers, but is so worth it. Please let me know if this works for you.
Oh my!! Such pretty tree cards! If I had nothing else to do, i could just sit with our puppy or kitties, and watch you paint all day. 💕Your music is a bonus, but I could still watch you paint. 😊
Thank you so much for your incredibly kind comment! 🌟 I'm thrilled to hear that you enjoyed the tree cards and that you find the painting process captivating. It warms my heart to know that you could imagine spending time with your puppy or kitties while watching. Your support means a lot, and I appreciate you taking the time to share your lovely thoughts. 💖🎨🐾 Happy Holidays!
