  • CalvaryTruths.com JesusLovesYouRadio.com Pastor Chuck Smith's Last Sermon - "Be Strong in the Faith" - Romans 4:19. We will miss you Pastor Chuck, but we know you've died, but moved to Heaven! Praise Jesus for the ministry He did through Pastor Chuck! Chuck was very weak with Cancer, but he still taught all three services this final Sunday! What a great example for all of us to share the Gospel and teach the Word of God with all of our hearts, in easy times or in difficult times! To God be the glory!

It's quite remarkable that Pastor Chuck, though weak with cancer, still taught all three services this final Sunday! He died, aged 86, only days afterwards- crowning nearly 50-years at Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa and a lifetime in service to Christ. A more honorable servant one could not find, and there IS a message for everyone in this, his last public sermon!

You've never met me, but I know you well. You've never talked to me, but I can finish most of you're sentences and prayers. You've never even heard my name, but you helped change my life when it counted most in those first hardest years of my spiritual change from a pagan. You, more than anyone else. I listened to you for days every year and hours every day. Almost everything you published. I miss u Pastor Chuck, alot. Things are really bad out there, getting worse. The end is coming soon and while I'm happy you don't have to endure it, I childishly feel I need your words more than ever. But I know that you would tell me that I'm really strong, and I can endure as long as I keep moving forward in the right direction. I love you, Pastor Chuck. No Backward Step.

There have been nights where I'd plug in Chuck Smith's old commentary tapes from the 80s through mp3 player and just listen through the night. This man is with the Lord now. He hasn't died. He's moved to a glorious new mansion built without hands. :)

I grew up going to Calvary Chapels in Las Vegas, NV. I've never found a better church, a better way of teaching, and a better way of understanding Who God is, and who we are because of God. Admittedly, I did not know that Pastor Chuck Smith passed away, or that he died of cancer until now.
My own Mom died of Cancer in 2010, my Dad is also a Cancer Survivor, and so am I. But God was with us all during the hardest times, and remains with us even now. My Mom's death didn't shake my faith, nor did my own cancer diagnosis; rather it drew me closer to God, as I understand that disease is not caused by God, but exists because this is a Fallen World. It drew me closer to God, and I walked hand in hand with Christ who was my source of comfort and strength.
I'm so glad I was able to see this. Thank you for posting!

Preaching on sin, repentance, expounding on the grace of the finished work of the cross, and praying in Jesus name-Yes Chuck Smith was born a sinner, and died a sinner. Yes he was a mere mortal man but he had the wisdom to understand that the road was narrow, the atonement of the shed blood of Jesus Christ was sufficient and the tenacious courage to put it out there for the world to accept or reject. Well done good and faithful servant as you enjoy the heavenly company of the all star cast of the book of Hebrews in front of The Throne of Almighty God and His Son our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

I remember listening to Chuck on KWVE in the 80's when I was a new believer, I looked forward to his teaching every day. It seemed he always delivered the Word that I needed to hear, always happy and positive, in fact, you can hear that same joy in his voice in this sermon, inflicted with cancer, he hobbles to the podium and says "What a joy, and what a blessing",
A true servant of the Living God, Thank You Lord for Brother Chuck

I remember the first time I met Pastor Chuck. I walked past him at Calvary Chapel Ft Lauderdale before service. I didn't know who he was, but he smiled and I felt a warmth that I cant explain. So much so, I had to follow him to try and figure out what had just happened. Later when service started, Pastor Bob introduced Pastor Chuck. It all became so clear at that moment. God Bless you Pastor Chuck and thank you from a million souls which God, through you and your students, has claimed.

Every Sunday I would check out chapters of the scriptures, it was a glorious time going thru the Bible with Chuck! It gave me a solid foundation in the word, and 50 years later, I’m still growing in grace with my precious Pastor friend Chuck , I’m so grateful God allowed my path to cross with his! I would have not made it without the Lord using Pastor Chuck in the way that he taught the wonderful word so clearly with so much love! I lived about a mile from Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa and started attending in 1979. God changed my life thru Pastor Chuck and I will always have a tender spot in my heart for him. He was the first person that taught me the Word of God instead of preaching AT me. For the first time I was able to understand and see how practical the Word was and is. For this I will always be grateful to Pastor Chuck and God.
The emphasis on God and His Word instead of dress and tradition, the contemporary music for worship, attendance instead of membership - were all so new to me and attractive to draw me in to Christian fellowship. I think these things were allowed/practiced by Chuck since he put God first.

See you later, Pastor Chuck. We knew you were going to move sometime, as we all will. It was probably back in the 70's that I first heard you and listened to you every day on my way to work at 7:30 AM. I had never heard anybody speak as you did... it was so real, so clear, so easy to understand. Thank you for your years of service. How many have come to know Christ through your teaching. God bless your family. You are much loved and always will be.

So blessed to hear Pastor Chuck again. Even more thankful to recall he's been delivered from the worn out tent and as MOVED in to that eternal home that has been prepared for him. Forever!
All this time he's been rejoicing in the presence of his great God and Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ.
    We'll see you again!

This man of God teaching has inspired many not only in the united states but in the Bahamas. I was sad to learn of his passing. Absent from the body, present with the Lord. God is good!

I was in high school in 69-72 and was at Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa all the time and for some years after. We were in a tent at first and then the building you see here went up. Pastor Chuck was a fantastic man! We also had great music. You are right Frogman, great memories.

Pastor Chuck, with out your faithfulness to God my life and thousands others would not have learned how to have and live a personal relationship with Jesus. By the wonderful teaching that you faithfully gave to your flock in the Bible. Thank you for your dedication and service to God and His church that he intrusted to you. We will miss you dearly, but knowing I will see you at the heavenly throne of God.

Wow, it makes me uneasy seeing Pastor Chuck in such a weakened state, yet still preaching. I'm sure he wanted to just keep preaching until the end and that it was hard for him to not be in his pulpit. Lord bless him~
