My mom liked him because she found him after the liberal politics turn, so I played her a set where he’s drunkenly slurring about fucking women in the ass because they don’t like it.
@duffdingelmeyer7101 You've been _real excited_ to use the word 'parasocial', eh? Plenty of people complained about Opie before the falling out - how can you miss how _insecure_ the guy was when it came to people saying he wasn't funny? How about the way he had to insist he was there to _steer the show,_ or how he's been _doing it [radio] since he was 18 and knows what he's doing._ - completely derailing the show at times for people that had _zero effect_ on the show until he brought it up? The guy got destroyed for being unfunny constantly; you're delusional to think it all started because everyone decided to follow Anthony.
Yeah Ronnie has to have a select group that understand what’s going on. When Ronnie is on he is on. But when you have opie and Sam and even Jim jefferys they don’t get him.
I almost feel as though the mass majority of us O&A fans fall right into compliance, when it comes to the hatred and intolerance of the Opie. Though in reality, this need to conform with the majority, comes from a deep fear to accept the fact that if any of us were to be put in that studio for a day, we wouldn't be able to perform among those giants and heavy hitters of comedy. We'd all be the Opiein that world, The fans who call into the show should be enough proof to back my theory. I'd saya solid 74% of callers are of Opie-Quality, if not worse. Our insecurity of being opies cause us to hate opie, cause being an opie is worst case scenario. With that said, fuck Opie.
People don't hate opie because he isn't a heavy hitter or he couldn't hold his own with these guys, they hate him because he killed funny bits and got shitty when someone made a joke at his expense even though he was arguably the cruelest out of everyone. Also that stupid sound board, always going to callers at the worst possible time. The list goes on.
Your theory sucks, he's astonishingly dull, dumb and unfunny person, with no life experience, or wit, or anything remotely interesing about him and on top of that he's the most insecure person ever, so stuck up in his own insecurities that he's completely unaware of what's going on around him at any given moment. Also, you said that 74% of the callers are worse than him, I'd say it's closer to 50% (and I think callers are the worst thing in history).. that means that almost 50% of the people that are on air probably for the first time in their life, are better than the guy who has his own show and is dOiNG raDiO SiNcE he WAs 18.
Opie and Sam were the worst, add in the Trashcan Toolshed Joe-DeRosa, an people would be able to avoid talentless hacks all together! Anthony, Jimmy, and Any of the countless amazing comics & you'd have a great show. Not like today with everything splintered & terrible gimmick riddled portrayals of what could be funny. Woe is the listeners.
Jim got to a stage where he was terrified because his sitcom got axed, and his attempted movie career had stalled. Now he's got himself some security, but unfortunately it came at the expense of his courage to put funny above political correctness.
Imagine yourself in his position--that is, being about 40 years old and faced with the choice of--apologize, or lose your career, which has taken many years to build. It's society's fault, not Jim Jefferies'
Meh, I get it. He has his kids, have to get a steady career going. They all do it, the ones who find some happiness. The only good comic is a miserable one.
I don't know why you turned it down for the soap pad bit. We've all heard it already. people listening through these oanda shows don't get offended by words. Just Opie 🤣
@@milesrange6490 Ronnie is in the same tier of funny as Ant and Jimmy but I will admit he tries to host even when he’s on other shows.. Tom Segura is hilarious but has the same problem when he guests on other podcasts

Is Jim Jeffries back to being Jim Jeffries?
@@jamalanderson3891no. No he is not
It's almost as if people change after years. It's not if he changed in one day. Get over yourselves
Boy do i miss lil Jimmy and Anthony...
Send this to the fans of his new show.
I thought I was having a fever dream a few years ago when I tried to catch up with what he’s been up to.. Holy shit, he’s a different person.
6:08 Opie “kinda likes” the theory of not being the coolest guy in the room. Wow.
Hardly anyone was complaining about Opie before their parasocial daddy Anthony had a falling out with him.
This was a great show.

Kevin Pollack might've been funnier if he had someone to riff off of like Anthony.. but Ronnie, Jim, Sam and Opie were all here so. Maybe not

"How about the stick swingers"
When Karl asked, "Whats the crack?", he was actually saying, "What's the craic?", effectively meaning, "What's the situation?"
"Is fireworks a sport?" At least as much as golf is 🤣
