When you’re sitting on the end of a pier it makes me think the thing needs something like a camera strap that goes around your neck or wrist to save from a disastrous mishandle and device-ending/disappearing Kerplunk noise.
@@Hainbach I bought the original less than a year before the Field came out, discovered how much I liked using it as a multitrack tape recorder except for the pops and clicks in the firmware at the time, and being mono - dismissed the Field and then upgraded. The stereo and sound quality are massive upgrades - luckily at the time I was in a position where I could upgrade. But yeah the mounting option change is very very strange. The original as you say had screw holes and could properly be secured - the Field has velcro. Really weird. I can only assume those deep screw holes were removed to make room for internal changes - the built in speaker is night and day different and quite usable on the Feild, very tinny on the original. You're totally right though - the original looks WAY better, and they've even removed some of the button labels for shift functions on the Field, although those features are still there. Pretty odd choices.
I have had the original OP-1 for years and only recently did I really start to learn to use it properly. Now I love the thing and I have to decide if I should get the Field. Also thinking I might hang onto the OG. I bet in a few years folks will feel like they want the original sounds again. Funny how that always seems to happen.
They are probably desperately trying to boost the sales of the new OP-1, I would guess very few people got convinced of the upgrade, and new buyers are even more scared than before due to the current situation in the world. They did a great job on calling you to do a video on it, because this is the best OP-1F video I have seen so far, it was an amazing demonstration of what it can do.

I agree completely. As a traveling medical tech...I have my studio at my house but it's so great on the road. I take my ideas I come up with during the work week and can really expand upon those ideas on the weekend.

It is a mixture of the internal synthesizers and an orchestral sample I have ben using for a long time. The new reverb on the field has a wonderful "glue" to it that meshes everything in a very alive way.

I've always been content with using software on a laptop/iPad. After watching this video however, I have never wanted a piece of hardware more in my life. 😬 Hainbach, what you've created in it without post-production is absolutely flawless!
Thank you! I have discovered some cool tricks - you can do Mini-Disc glitch if you fast forward and rewind in that mode and record it to the vinyl. Then you re-record that to tape to smooth out the digital sound. I used that in the last track.
Yes! There is a cool trick I used for that - used the "mini-disc", recorded the glitter part, glitched through it with fast forward and rewind while recording to vinyl. re-recorded the master to a track, pitched that 17 steps down. Added other instruments, recorded to vinyl, then re-recorded to tape to smooth everything out. Sounds like a lot but its rather fun.
I had my Op1 stolen in a move, though it was on its last legs anyway after too many years of touring and putting it in places it didn't belong haha. Can't wait for this! I love furthering the Op1 love 💕

Classical musicians tour with instruments that are often more than a year worth of income. A well-made bow for contrabass alone is 3K. It is all relative to what you require professionally.

Weirdly enough it was fine…the amp it was resting precariously on however shorted out from the beer. 😂 …I’d have rather lost the laptop. I’ve kept that laptop ever since (1997). All it’s been through it deserves a good retirement I figured.
Yeah, you can get cases for the Field that are just as sturdy. But if you fear that your gear might get beered at a noise show, I would take gear that fits that venue. Contact mic + Metalzone ❤️

I own the Field and I can confirm - it wipes the floor with the OP-1 OG. The speaker(s) alone are worth the upgrade but the tapes, storage, dimension synth, effects, better display, and velocity...you can never go back. And I didn't touch on the VU meter on the aluminum shell that has no lag and is super bright.
You make it sound nice but waaaaaay too expensive when an ipad does so much more and not much bigger footprint. Looks like a cheap toy. Their mini mixer is also ridiculously expensive.
For $2,000, to tour with? You could get way better options/features with that money by buying a few pieces of gear. If you want a single unit with just as much (if not more) capability plus better build quality and a smaller size, the Dirtywave M8 is only $600.

Based on that we might as well say we are comparing a spreadsheet to a cows digestive system because the M8 shows a cow on the screen. The spreadsheet look is far more informative than a cassette reel approximation anyway.

The string samples are beautiful - where are they from?
From an orchestral piece I wrote. This is a snippet from the rehearsal session in an old chapel. Never get tired of that sound.

A IPAD mini with £800 woth of apps is 100 times better and make it look like a Casio VL1. Overpriced Apple style crap.

It is. But mostly, if you get a good year of their tools, they work flawlessly and become invisible. If you get a bad year, it sucks.
For $2,000, to tour with? You could get way better options/features with that money by buying a few pieces of gear. If you want a single unit with just as much (if not more) capability plus better build quality and a smaller size, the Dirtywave M8 is only $600.

@@xxxSupahskillzz48275 Personally I don’t think the two are a fair comparison but how a device opts to display things on a screen does not make it that thing. Based on that we might as well say we are comparing a spreadsheet to a cows digestive system because the M8 shows a cow on the screen. The spreadsheet look is far more informative than a cassette reel approximation anyway.
