@ofacilitadordoingles oh. Mariah has more number ones as a producer than Walter. Mariah could've done the Christmas solo but Walter needed a job badly.

Mariah wrote the main melody first and then wrote all the words later, which she does 99% of the time anyway. The MUSIC always comes to her FIRST. She only collaborates on the music because she doesn't play instruments well enough to be able to figure out the chords in the arrangement on her own. She plays the keyboards a little bit but not well enough for what the task calls for. But she's always been able to hum out the chord progression along with the core melody to her co-composer/instrumentalist/co-producer as they are building the song up to completion. Anyways, the song was practically done prior to the involvement of Walter EXCEPT FOR THE BRIDGE, according to Mariah herself, and she has been consistent in her story from as far back as '94 if you read & listened to every interview about the process of creating the song. Now, Walter does do superb bridges -- the one thing he does do brilliantly if you notice even in the songs he has done for other artists. And when they went on their separate ways, you can also notice how Mariah stopped doing proper bridges besides some occasional exceptions (i.e. also partly due to bridges having lost favor in popular music especially in the streaming age when songs tend to be shorter). Let's give credit to whom it's due and not sully something that was clear & simple in order to take back some of the already long-established proper credits.

That makes me believe she was the lead writer for the melodies. He's trying to make it seem like she just followed his melodical ear. For example, he said Mariah made up a story more recently (like in the last 15 years), that she came up w/ the melody for the Christmas song on a keyboard first. Walter made it seem like she just lied, and created that story recently. But MTV released an interview from back in 1994, that showed Mariah speaking about her story of coming up w/ the melody for All I Want For Christmas Is You first, on her keyboard... Which proved she's always been consistent on how that song's melody came to life. She also wrote all the lyrics herself, which is usually hand & hand w/ the melodies (for her). I mean, I wasn't there. But I find that odd, that Walter would say Mariah just made that story up recently, when she's been saying that since 1994 (when they were still on great terms). Very interesting... Narada Walden also said when he wrote "I Don't Wanna Cry" w/ Mariah. She came up w/ most of the melody and lyrics herself. I really enjoyed this interview until I heard Walter’s tone when he spoke about Peabo Bryson. Peabo is not your average R&B singer. He is a phenomenal soul singer with heart, tone and conviction. Sure Celine sounded amazing, but so did Peabo. So rude when he said “like they couldn’t get anyone else” on the second Disney cut. How about Celine was on the record a second time too?! They were a great pair vocally. Celine would have still had the opportunity to sing with Andre and Mr. Groban later in her career. Idk, why he shaded Peabo Bryson like that but, you’re not about to do the dead like that. Have some respect. RIP Peabo Bryson. 🕊️
The question I have for Walter is would All I Want For Christmas Is You exist without Mariah? Would it exist without him? The answer- it would exist without him, but it would not exist without Mariah- it’s Mariah’s song
He did NOT WRITE THAT MF SONG!!!!!! Mariah wrote the song and described to him EXACTLY what she was hearing in her head!!!!!!!! Mariah wrote that song!!!!
I hope they will work together (Mariah). They have good chemistry. They are really perfect match. They can create magical songs that the whole world love. ❤
Lambs, despite how their friendship may have ended, none of us were there to see what really went down so only Mariah has a right to express her disdain. But from a creative point of view, we have to acknowledge that Walter brought the best out of Mariah and at one point they were like Jimmy-Terry and Janet, or Brandy and Darkchild. That sound they created will last a lifetime no matter what and for that alone I thank him. However, Walter was TRASH for what he allowed Tomato Juice to do to Mariah with that knife. He may not have wanted to get involved in their marital affairs but that was pushing it too far.
Mariah Carey created magic with all the co-producers she worked with then. Vison of Love, Love Takes Time, Someday, I Don't Wanna Cry, Emotions, Make It Happen, Dreamlover, Fantasy, Always Be My Baby, Honey, Heartbreaker, If It's Over, Vanishing... etc..etc... dind't involve Walter in writing.
@ Walter literally helped produced some of the songs you named such as dreamlover, if it’s over, and love takes time. There’s nothing wrong with acknowledging his contributions because like it or not he’s partially responsible for that early 90s Mariah-Esque sound. He made it polished and perfect which she hated but that was what helped sell those records initially.

@@mamamia601 I agree. Tommy and Walter were an integral part of the making of Mariah Carey. I know she hates Mottola and hasn't really said good things about Walter for years, but I think she needs a reality check. All her major hits from the 90s were via her and Walter. Anyone that thinks she'd have created these masterpieces without him is deluded! She essentially writes the lyrics and does some of the producing but not to the extent that Walter produced. Looking at how he did all the computer work for the instruments, not just for Mariah but many great 90s artists, shows how good he is at his craft. James Horner didn't like them not asking him to produce his own song. Especially considering he did that original score, composer and producer, from scratch alone. I can see why that pissed him off. He probably felt like Walter was riding off the coat-tails of his iconic creation.
Celine is indeed has a powerful vocals Walter is not wrong with that. That's amazing!
He even arranged Beauty and the Beast and A whole new World pop versions!
Confirmed!
This was a very nice interview with Walter. The show he's talking about was the music box tour where all the proceeds were dedicated to the victims of the long island railroad shooting
Thanks for sharing!
❤ Walter.
No- Prince is the King of drum programming and will always be
OMG there's an unreleased duet with Backstreet Boys and Boys ii men singing together?? Please someone leak that song on the internet I need to hear it NOW!!! 38:05
Right? We need this
It's what the world needs
Fun fact: the My heart will go on version played at the beginning is the OST version produced by James Horner! Afanasieff did Celine's album version.
correct
Which is the same one take vocals she did for the OST version. Walter did the album/pop version, which has a different instrumentation that Walter did. And the last "Oooooooon" that's the only thing he changed from the vocals
It's pretty bad that you say Walter is "the" writer and producer of "All I Want..." and other songs. He is ONE OF the writers and producers as Mariah was heavily involved in all of their songs. It's pretty bad to deny a woman her credit, especially just to give the man full credit.
Exactly. I wish this video would be taken down.
wow the finger drums what a god
Right? Mind blowing
Best finger drums of the 90's
If Walter sees this, PLEASE release the vault songs for Daydream's 30th anniversary next year🙏🏼
He owns nothing MARIAH owns the masters to those
😂😂😂
I wish Mariah and Walter will reunite.
20th #1!
My GOD! Stop saying that.🙄🙄🙄
Your awesome Walter! My dream is to one day work on one of my songs with you. 🎶 🎤 ❤
Love the way the lambs are keeping people togetha in the comments! 👏🏼 Mariah 🦋 the greatest
I hope Walter and Mariah works again
Same 💛
Wow amazing interview, always looked forward to anything Walter was involved in
Please interview Babyface next!
Good idea! Subscribe and see if happens in 2025 ;)
Interesting interview.😊
Thanks!
Hmmm. I have to say I believe her that she had come up with most of the song beforehand. And there’s a reason her and Walter aren’t talking anymore…
Let me guess someone. From boysIImen was being a diva about the climax of the song. I remember Kandi burrus saying they were difficult to work with shes the one that cowrote TLC no scrubs and many songs for others as well as memeber of group Xcape. This is just my alleged opinion hypothesis lol
Mariah wrote it
Walter has sold his half of the songs songwriters royalty. ×
I wish they would work together again😢
One sweet day
He is not a hit maker he’s one of tommy mottolas cronies i don’t like him
Yet he is a hit maker his reputation proves it.
Is implying he wrote Mariah’s songs? Slight shade
Misleading title! Mariah wrote the lyrics of AIWFC! Cure your ignorance!!!!!
I wish he would take his millions and go away. He's not the star and never will be.
We need that Boyz II Men/Backstreet Boys song
All I want for Christmas, is that B2M x BSB track
Would love the hear the BSB B2M song
Right?! Hoping for a leak lol
Well he has his spotlight. But we know that Mariah the bigger chunk. He may have involved more on the background music enhancement
Stop playing!!
You’re misleading people when you said Walter wrote hits for Mariah Carey!!
He only has co-songwriter credits because Mariah has little knowledge when it comes to playing musical instruments!!
In fact Mariah’s songs were almost complete when this guys collabs with Mariah.
He just tweak things here and there,
Voilà!!
Writing credits in!!
But let me compliment him!!
He’s a better producer compared to Dj Khaled!!
That one guys who’s shouting words in a song.
And his name is the main artist of that song, not the singer!!
😂😂
They need to wrote another song together to make more Number 1’s
Probably Victor Bailey on bass in the studio for Christmas album haha
Check to see who played on the rest of Mariah's Christmas album
mariah separates with walter because walter pro to tommy motola....
You are so wrong. The version of the song itself might exist, sure.. but it would absolutely not exist as it does today, without Walters contribution.
SO TRUE. Mariah's musicality is everything!
Well, her hits songs existed before and after him, so the answer is clearly YES.
Well, he betrayed her several times
@@jeaquino8598 Not gonna happen. She’s moved on. He hasn’t. He would be nothing without Mariah and Celine.
That's not gonna happened. Read Mariah's memoir, then you'll know. IF the content is wrong, there should be some comments out
He sat by while her ex-husband put a knife to her face, so I don't see her working with him again.
A No No. You shoulda' known that it's bigger than you.
@@SoSillyWilly26 I'm talking about as a writer. She could've had any big producer from Narada, David, Quincy Jones etc.. to produce her songs. But as a writer, she wrote hits with everyone. He didn't. All his hits as w/ her.
@ Respectfully you’re wrong. You do realize this is the guy who produced My Heart Will Go On for Celine, right? We may not like how him and Mariah’s friendship turned out but I won’t discount this man’s contribution to music. He has hits…
@@SoSillyWilly26 He only producd that bc the superior producer David Foster turned it down. And My Heart Will Go On was created by the genius of James Horner. Whom didn't like Walter producing his song for Celine.
Walter é mesmo brasileiro???? Brasilll
I love how enthusiastic the interviewer is!
Haha this is me every day
Hello Elmo❤
Hello!
Fantastic interview. This is where the internet shines- there's no longer space for such long form in-depth interviews on terrestrial TV. The Internet/YT provides the bandwidth and makes so much more information accessible.
I love early Mariah between 1990-97 before all the crazy. Such an informative and entertaining conversation. Walter is so humble- he doesn't get the recognition his towering talent and achievements deserve.
Thanks for sharing this and Walter- PLEASE RELEASE THAT BACKSTREET BOYZ II MEN DUET and the various versions of One Sweet Day. The world needs to hear them.
Glad you enjoyed it! Much love
So much respect for Walter A! He seems super cool and down-to-earth person.
@pellier08 Uuh, wrong. Mariah did NOT "need" Ben Margulies after the 1st album. After she left Walter, she also produced arguably the biggest (non-Christmas) hit among many in her career in "We Belong Together." NONE of her co-writers/co-producers have ever even come close to getting any other hit as huge as the ones they've had with Mariah. Not Walter, not Rhett Lawrence, not David Cole (RIP), not Stevie J, not Jermaine, etc, etc. Walter was not able to replicate anything and practically disappeared post-Mariah & has -- per my reliable personal source close to MC 😈 -- actually been BEGGING to work with her again all these years. 😂 No one would even be inviting him to these interviews without this particular song that she wrote & he only helped to co-produce with her. Sit down.
Wan ko sayo WALTER A. kaya isinumpa ka ni Mariah
Walter, keep milking that Mariah/ Celine mentions as you always did!!!
You sided with an evil man!!
You had it coming!!
Bye!!
😒😒
Edit:
Nice interview though!
😬😅
ITS NOT THE FREAKING GREATEST SONG OF ALL TIME. ITS A LOVE SONG.
Oh Holy Night and O come all ye faithful are probably the greatest songs for Christmas.
She don't know him.

Can Google do it?
Í hope Walter and Mariah n Celine will create a song together ❤
Mariah didn’t want to do a Christmas album at the time because she thought that was for “has beens” at the end of their careers and she was new at the time. I’m so glad Tommy forced her to do this album and thankful for Walter for most of Mariah’s hits. If she didn’t do AIWFCIY 30 years ago, she wouldn’t have been able to do it today without Walter. Plus she can’t sing as good as she did 30 years ago. The timing was perfect and Mariah wasn’t alone even though she doesn’t credit anybody else but herself.
Mariah was talks about Walter when it comes to AIWFCIY. But you guys just listen and understand what you want.
@ says the FANATIC SHEEP 🐑🤡
Walter sang the song. Mariah didn’t sing it.
Go find you somebody else to play with daniela
So it was Tommy's idea for them to make a Christmas album! 😂😂😂😂😂😂 So he did come in useful for something 👀
He definitely made things happen!
People can say things about Mottola, but no one can deny how influential he was in the making and shaping of Mariah Carey's career. He really believed in her, even had a word war with Carey's former manager Stella on the singer's botched New Year's Eve performance.
Mariah's craft is singing and song writing and I think some of the fans think she does ALL the work. That's simply just not true, it's a team effort.
@@GARdotETHexactly
@@GARdotETHnot true. Vision of love, I don’t wanna cry, someday, love takes time, Emotions, Dreamlover (he added some production because it was too hip hop for Sony), fantasy, always be my baby, heartbreaker were without him. She’s the main factor of her career. Walter was nothing without her. She’s had hits like We belong together, I know what you want, shake it off, touch my body or obsessed after the Sony days. Put a respect on her. She’s talked many times about the influence of Tommy and she’s giving him credit. Stop this non sense
