Rough edges are called deckle-edged. You see it in older hardbound books
Hi Laura! I liked the April box best because it has a book I want to read but all of the books sounded good. The gifts were all OK but the knives and baking mat in the May box were my favorite items. Thanks for the premiere.
I agree, the gifts were definitely just okay. I am excited about the knives and I hope the quality is there, otherwise I will be very disappointed. I will probably read the romance book 😃

Hi Karan!! The flower bride seems like a great book and I do love me a fairy tale inspired/ twist in a story. 😃 I was pretty happy with the book selections in this box and now that I have finished Harry Potter I can start reading books on my never ending TBR list.

I liked Mastering the Art of French Murder. The sequel comes out in April next year, so maybe OUABC will do a box with it.

Hi Laura! Thank you for doing back-to-back premieres with me, that was fun! Some of the gifts had bigger values like the towel and knife set, probably my two favorites. I definitely think the third box and book would be my favorite, fiction about Julia Childs, so cool. And that knife set is so creative, I can't get over it! I hope they work well. Have a great day!
I love doing back to back premieres with you, and today's was very fun. We had a pretty good turnout. I hope the knives work well too bc it was a nice gift to get. I look forward to the Julia Child murder mystery book. I like that it is smaller (especially compared to Harry Potter books 😂 )

@@LauraWootenReviews oh wow way to go! That was fast. Lives are easy, the tough thing would be to get the Harry Potter fans available and in there. Do you have a good amount of Harry Potter fans on your channel?

The first book had a bit of a Bluebeard feel to it, though quite different. I also think that book might have had deckled edges which are on purpose (unevenly cut). Not a drinker, but you're right, one round cube melts slower so it doesn't dilute the whisky/liquor in the drink. But who's going to need just one cube? I've gotten things like that before, good idea, but how practical are they really? I always enjoy a good puzzle though!
2nd box: Appreciate the bonus book, but does seem a low value box for what you'd pay for it. First box had a better value, I think.
3rd: Probably my favorite book you received...love me a good stenciled edge! The knives were unique and useful, but I totally think the key chain was not a good gift and the value wasn't there.
I'd be okay with getting 3 gifts only...if the value was there. The box has to make money, but if you can get all the items, including the book, for cheaper than you bought the box then it just becomes not worth it. I've been tempted to get this box before, but the gifts have not consistently been worth it for me.
Think the winner was the first box for me, gifts-wise! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for all your thoughts. I agree the first box had some good gifts. Now that you mention it, I want to say the pages were deckled on purpose. I actually like that all 3 books were just a little different (pages wise) to show the variety of books and book designs that can come in the box.
The 2nd box definitely had a lower value. I think the gifts went well with the book, but the value was pushing it.
The 3rd box was exciting with the knife set and the murder mystery book sounded good. (All the books sounded pretty good to me though 😃 )
I do think OUABC has had to lower the value of the items to either stay in business to offset inflation or keep from raising their prices. I can understand how a new subscriber might be hesitant to join this subscription with the current values being sent in these boxes.

@@LauraWootenReviews here's a brief descrption. "The History of Blue Beard is a centuries-old fairytale. It tells the story of a murderous husband named Blue Beard, and a locked chamber filled with the bodies of his previous wives. " I'm not sure why it's called a fairy tale. It's pretty creepy. If I remember correctly, his current wife has the run of his mansion, except for one room she must never enter..... do you think she obeyed his wishes? mwah ha ha, of course not!
