I was in shock 😧😦and I feel profoundly sad😢🖤 😢🖤when I saw in your video how empty and dead the Echelon mall is today. I remember going to the Echelon ball with my Late Dad and my Mom in the 1990s🤗🤗🤗!! I so remember that the food court was hopping back in the 1990s! I also remember in the Echelon Mall in the 1990s there was a health food store, a really cute music box🎵🎶 Shop💖💖✨✨✨ that I absolutely loved, and clothing stores! If my Late Dad was alive today he would feel sad and shocked 😧😧🖤🖤🖤😧😢😢😢to see what has become of this mall😢😢😢🖤🖤🖤. Thank you for doing this video and I'll always have the memories of when the Echelon Mall was a different place💖💖💖✨✨✨!!! I will always remember how much my Late Dad and my Mom and I enjoy going to the Echelon Mall together back in the 1990s when the Echelon Mall was a fun place to eat and shop ✨✨✨💜💖💙💚💛❤️🧡!!!

The Marianne Shop was THE "go to" place to shop for on-trend, affordable clothing for my friends and I, back in the early-mid 70's. Much like H&M today, only much, much cheaper.

Thanks for the tour of the old Echelon Mall. Hard to relate to what it is now when you know how it was during its prime. This was the mall that we hung out at when I was in high school (late 70s, early 80s, yeah I'm that old). I would walk there from our house in Stratford sometimes. No big deal as a high school kid.

I r 11:37 emember the all-weekend, free outdoor concert in the mall's expansive parking lot, that the old WFIL sponsored back in May, 1972. That weekend's line up featured Redbone, JoJo Gunne, Frigid Pink, Jerry Butler, The Chi-Lites, the late Harry Chapin (whose song " Taxi" was climbing the charts), and Dr. Hook and the Medicine Show, who also were the "surprise guests" at our Saturday night Paul VI high school dance (also courtesy of WFIL), and performed their then "new" song, "Sylvia's Mother". A weekend to remember, for sure. The late 80's saw a then-little known singer named Paula Abdul perform on the mall's first level to enormous crowds. So sad what's become of a once popular, iconic landmark!

I moved to Cherry Hill in 1969 I was turning 10 years old. The mall was almost finished. My friends and I would ride our bikes the five miles up Springdale Rd., to play pinball! Whenever my older brother was driving up to the mall, I would beg him to take me.😢 Now at 64 years old, and living in another state I'm truly sad to see part of my childhood in such sad shape.

In high school in early 70's, before we could drive, we would take the Speedline to the Ashland station and take the shutle, which ran continuously throughout the day until mall closing,to and from the mall. Man! Did we feel "all grown up"!😄

This is a real bummer. It was the main mall my mom would take us to until Deptford Mall opened. I met my wife working at Boscov’s in 1992 when it took over the old Stern’s/Gimbel’s location. The mall actually expanded after that and a new anchor store was opened (Sears). Only lasted a few years. The Sears building and part of the Mall was torn down a few years after that, but they still can’t fill it. They should turn old malls into Gen X housing. Throw in an arcade and an Orange Julius and I bet it would sell out!😂

I came here back in 2016 or 2017 right before they closed Macy's to a neurologist who was in the mall..it was way out of the way. Way off of 295.. they had a Friendly's Ice Cream in that new shopping area but that closed. It was dead back then too.. food court had some places and Camden County had a store there too to get information about county services and you could get your passport application processed there. Maybe it will come back. But Voorhees is going to have to keep the rent cheap.

You should have seen the Hamilton Mall in Mays Landing. It was just as bad or worse than this place is. As sad as it sounds the only plus side for having a Mall is getting good deals in those pop up sports stores when they have autographs and real Jerseys for 50% off once they're ready to go out of business. Most stores in our local malls are just novelty stores these days or retail stores that are already somewhere in the area. There's nothing to make you want to go and shop there often which is why the business model of a mall is failing. You have to have good stores that can compete with online shopping. Most Malls get filled with the same retail big box stores that are everywhere in the area or somewhere close by already. If they filled the mall with different store options for the area then it could be a better draw for repeat shoppers.
