Ok, I'm very familiar with this location. I did operations and maintenance of the ground water treatment plant for this site from 2007 to 2011. It's really neat seeing the site again. I was authorized to be there and explored quite a bit of it. Some buildings have open floor pits and you MUST BE extremely careful to avoid them. One building housed huge electric motors which sacked air from the test chamber to simulate altitude for the jet engines. The motors were removed and shipped to China for use in a hydroelectric dam. The ground water treatment building is in the video tan building with a green office attached to it sitting just outside the fence. That was my office! Lol. There's lots of deer roaming the site and other critters.
I remember a rumor that there is an abandoned ww2 p-51 engine factory that was underground somewhere along the Delaware river. "May have read that in a back issue of Weird NJ?" It would be awesome if you could find it and explore it. Rumor has it that it has as many as 11 stories under ground, but I don't know if it is real or not. Great video as usual.
I know the place you are talking about. I've heard that most of the deeper underground tunnels are blocked off, completely inaccessible. There are some ground level buildings and a basement that is possible to explore, but most of the cool equipment and stuff has been removed. I may still check it out anyway.
***** Its great that you are aware of the location I am talking about, The story I read about involved a person who found an entrance along the river bank that lead them down several stories underground. According to their description it was like a time capsule very well preserved. You are very adventurous and respectful of the areas you research, Best to you and who ever supports you.
I will have to see if I still have it, not in the big book for some reason. Let me look and see if I have it in an old issue. I don't have many though.
good vid. camerawork is a bit shaky but having tried to do it before i can understand how hard it can be so no complaints. the part about the fuel contamination reminds me of a gas station in my neighborhood they discovered had leaking underground tanks that was making people in some homes in the immediate area sick. about a 1/4 of the homes nearby had to be abandoned and they were vacant and derelict for almost a decade until the gas company finally tore them down in order to excavate and remediate the soil. they've only recently started to build new homes, but i wonder who would would by them.
You are sooooo lucky the Ewing Police didn't catch you!! They patrol that site A LOT, if they catch you it's a hefty fine, and you are hauled off to jail. If it's after hours you don't see the judge who will set bail until the next day so you spend the night in jail. The fine is (I've heard) is around $2500, plus I think they set bail around the same so you need to post 10% to go free. I would strongly discourage anyone from exploring that place.
BUT....we want to see. And this guy is going to let us see. And other people want to see. Why can't YOU see.....that people will just go on doing whatever they want in the pursuit of curiosity? Maybe it's because all you see....is why kids love the taste of cinnamon toasted crunch.
LOVE IT! I wish we had more abandoned places up here in Hamilton, Ontario but it seems that around here they just tear stuff down or re-use it once it's abandoned. Nothing really interesting, just mainly drains.
I can't believe someone didn't salvage the huge Chicago Pneumatic air compressor seen at 16:35. I remember when it ran you could feel the air pulsing in the building! What a beast! I see the big open armature motor has been removed by torching off the shaft. Probably for the copper. This video is sad for me to watch.
As incredible as these UE videos are, each one is proof of waste, and lost employment. In the case of this facility, tens of millions of dollars, and thousands of jobs.
It doesn't look like there was much left to see - huge buildings that have nothing inside them. I would have looked for the areas that others may have missed. Since it was active from the 50's through the 90's there WAS a fallout shelter there somewhere. It was probably just as empty as the rest, but I would have looked for it. Also those upstairs offices and other "off the beaten path" places would have been worth checking out. The common areas have been (obviously) visited before and cleaned out. Cool stuff though!
No joke, when you walked across that beam to get to the testing chambers I was so nervous! When you're foot hit whatever it was on the ground after you made it across I jumped. That was awesome man, great video
If u ever get the chance to go to Colorado make sure to explore this abandoned computer tech center it's huge and has been untouched but nasa looked into the building recently and reported variousnes parts of computers following them I was just down in it recently for volenter work for the flood relive and even the restroom lights were barely powerd and there will still lockers with name tags on them anyways nice video hope to see more of this amazing work
This was a well functioning facility that carried out turbine engine research and development for the Navy when it was closed. It was shut down during the Base Realignment and Closure program under Bill Clinton. Since so many bases were being closed in other states our NJ congressmen led by Lautenberg made the Naval Air Propulsion Center (this site) and its sister unit in Warminster PA the sacrificial lamb so Ft. Dix and Ft. Monmouth would be left alone. And FYI, I don't know who added all the "hazardous waste" notes but they mention some chemicals this facility didn't even use! There was some contamination but not to the extent the hysterical tree huggers want you to believe.
Uh then why is it a superfine site. I worked there as an operator for the ground water treatment plant from about 07 to 2011. It is a neat place though. Most of the contamination is in the soil and water.
The USGS has been monitoring the TCE situation at the Trenton base since 1993 and continue to monitor it to this day. nj.usgs.gov/nawc/ , www2.usgs.gov/science/cite-view.php?cite=980, toxics.usgs.gov/investigations/fractured_rock/index.php "Trichloroethylene: TCE is a chemical compound commonly used as a solvent to remove grease from metal parts"
Only deadly in certain areas, and especially in Chernobyl, Amusement Park, and the Red Forest itself. You do know they have checkpoints and gieger counters there right? You're allowed on tours in the city itself. Also long as you know what you're doing you should be fine.
Nice find guys! My Grandfather was the lead jet engine tester in those chambers. The locker that you saw that said "Fly Navy" was his. Also in the beginning of the video you showed a crane lift. My Grandfather invited that for the jet engines, same where the big chambers were. I now follow his footsteps and work at that airport with Frontier. Message me via inbox. Ill give you some details on this site.
Only cool thing in my town is how old the buildings are. Not abandoned, but old advertisements that people tried to wash off the side of brick buildings. And an old sign on a building that used to be a hotel.
Can one comprehend the amount of men and materiel that went into this construction? And then to have it all inevitably degrade to nought - wth are we even doing as a society?
Hey unknown camera man, please get a very powerful flash light. It may be costly, but it would help because I have a problem, probably along with everybody else, seeing the things in the dark. Better flash light equals better look
Seems the foliage is giving it the old college try and some of it is winning. I hope the videographer was wearing a mask. Prolly bad to breathe that contaminated air. Seems. Thanks again.
La dedans je ferai un centre d'art contemporain, comme la raffinerie Georges Pompidou dans le quartier du Marais à Paris. Raffinerie à détruire. Et délocaliser sur ce site.
Why do these places have the barbwire facing inside instead of outside. Is the barbwire meant to keep people in or out? I guess it's ok for the military to spill hazardous waste, the EPA is a failure anyway. This is what our taxes pay for???
Theres a papermill that I frequent where the epa came in and did asbestos cleanup in the powerhouse. They then boarded up the powerhouse but not any other parts of the building and the powerhouse can be accessed from the rest of the mill. What a dumbass move, huh?
because of the chemicals the facility produced, you don't know what could be floating around in the air, even ordinary dust is dangerous to breathe, so its best to wear breathing equipment when in dusty old places like this
***** agreed 110%. Lead paint once dried and flaking is really quite dangerous. And being a navy testing facility god only know what else is floating around in there.
The site is contaminated by T.C.E trichloroethane not sure I spelled that right. Most of the contamination is in capped fill areas and is in the ground water. It also has many asbestos wrapped steam pipes. I worked at the ground water treatment plant there.
clone 1124 yes, it is a solvent and in this facility was used in heat exchanger systems to cool jet engine exhaust. This facility tested jet engines for the Navy.
Dude, this is in my town, i'm ecstatic right now. i've wanted to see the inside of this building for as long as I can remember. Thanks for showing me
why dont you just go and get off your ass
Ok, I'm very familiar with this location. I did operations and maintenance of the ground water treatment plant for this site from 2007 to 2011. It's really neat seeing the site again. Drive by that place a lot. Was wondering what it was. Thanks for posting
The grounds look like it could be the set for an apocalypse type movie haha So crazy! Great video

awesome! Thanks for bringing us along :)
thanks for posting, very informative about the ground water being contaminated.

nice,another hamiltonian :)
wow place looks massive in size. Cool video!
So much money wasted. Thanks for the video, I almost feel like I was there in person.
Awesome location, Your videos have inspired me to make my own channel of urban exploring!
I can't believe someone didn't salvage the huge Chicago Pneumatic air compressor seen at 16:35. I remember when it ran you could feel the air pulsing in the building! What a beast! I see that you guys were accompanied by Darth Vader. Not a bad deal, really! Never knew he was into urban exploration. :D
I am telling people about your work- its really engaging...
well put together i love your movies
i always see the front gate open when i drive by and there's people in there. Usually mowing the lawns and stuff.
That would be a sweet place to throw a rave, nice find. I really don't understand why people have the need to paint cocks everywhere..
Penis Envy. Hahahaha!
i keep always wanting to go to abandoned areas cause theres a lot of them in my town
Cool footage there thanks x
Loved the GhostBusters quote!
16:30 Wow, Bethlehem Steel pipe with the tag still on. Did you know that place has been renovated into a multimillion dollar entertainment complex?
No joke, when you walked across that beam to get to the testing chambers I was so nervous! When you're foot hit whatever it was on the ground after you made it across I jumped. That was awesome man, great video

For your thousandth video anniversary, you should try to go to Pripyat
Okay, I will! :D
Did I pinch a nerve or something? Cause I was just suggesting a cool idea. Oh how rude humanity has become. :P
Only deadly in certain areas, and especially in Chernobyl, Amusement Park, and the Red Forest itself. You do know they have checkpoints and gieger counters there right? You're allowed on tours in the city itself. Also long as you know what you're doing you should be fine.
And who says I'm trolling? Obviously you're the troll here for bashing me about putting out what I'd think would be pretty cool.
You do realize that I said visit there, not live. Right? Maybe for an hour or so. -_-
Video quality not quite up to TUC standards, but very interesting nonetheless.
what a shame it could restore to huge industry complex so sad a good building become ruin
This is so sick man like the videos how do you find these places its crazy
There is a ww2 underground bunker in Lodi New Jersey i heard. feel free to message me and ill show you where to go to explore it
Carella Clan where is this?
Someone seems to have shot the place up as well. Kind of outstanding for NJ.
32:13 Why couldn't you get into it? That building looks retro-futuristic... if that makes sense.
Nice find guys! My Grandfather was the lead jet engine tester in those chambers. The locker that you saw that said "Fly Navy" was his. Also in the beginning of the video you showed a crane lift. On pourait également y faire les défilés de haute couture, les locaux s'y prêtent.
this was a good one the door slam was great lol
at video editing software do you use if you dont mind me asking
I live just a mile from here!
looks liek it been abandoned for a while
i believe it closed up in the mid to late 90s.
Can one comprehend the amount of men and materiel that went into this construction? And then to have it all inevitably degrade to nought - wth are we even doing as a society?
Do you ever run into anyone at these places? Be it fellow explorers, law enforcement, or maybe more nefarious individuals?
Hey unknown camera man, please get a very powerful flash light. It may be costly, but it would help because I have a problem, probably along with everybody else, seeing the things in the dark. Better flash light equals better look
i didn't film this one...
I know when I do these I carry my generator and 500W worklight with me.
Life after people
I know where this is. Lucky you didn't get caught.
Why didnt he explore the airfield and hangers?
likely he would have been too visible to security to get to that section, not worth getting caught.
My bad! Didn't know that it was still in use. Would of been cool to see!
the airfield is actually part of the West Trenton airport now. it's an active airport and anybody in that area would be spotted quickly.
somethe new so glad.
3:12 WTF wood ladder tied up down the sewer lol
was underground bit flooded
I knew I heard a Dash 8 Twin Prop lol.
may i must imagine this guy must feel like Indiana Jones exploring these old abandoned ruins
Very cool, looks like something out of the fallout games.
Harry...Harry...where do you go w/ your camera? Harry...Harry...where....doooo....youuuuu.....gooooo? Anyone? Bueller?
Dude, you need a better flashlight!
A great place for giant ants to hide out.
23:05, wow!!
Is this legal?
11:54 hear someone screaming that is messed up
That's just from the breathing mask. It does that a lot actually
Come to the UK, London and check out some abandoned places there.
I will one of these days...
Wow. 34 minutes of video without a single frame being in focus...
Realty interesting :)
oh my God, I would raid that place for so many parts!
This one made me dizzy. Lol
Seems the foliage is giving it the old college try and some of it is winning. I hope the videographer was wearing a mask. Prolly bad to breathe that contaminated air. Seems. Thanks again.

epic only if I had the gas money to drive to n.j lol
Why are they using gas masks

Trichloroethane was widely used for cleaning metal parts and circuit boards when I worked for TRW in the 1970's.

Because it isn't TUC filming it, he says that at the start.
23:05, wow!!
