This version is literally a bitter man who lived all his life as a nobody worthless and was willing to abandon his son for power. I wouldn't be surprised if been in Neverland just made him a little bit more deranged than he already was deep down. Also when it comes to the lost boys and Wendy we can safely assume he'd made sure to assert himself as top dog so to speak but in terms of methods it's fairgame to him as long as it made sure they'd listen to him
