    Another great upload there Tim. I do have, and always use for magnification, a round magnifier. I’ve looked at and pondered those strip type but, for now, I’ll stick with what I’ve got.
    Thank you for another one dude..... 😊😊😊

    Luckily my desk (Tying bench, Reloading bench, occasional electronics bench) is in a favorable and stable location. I use two extendable/articulated lampholders that use 100Weq LED incandescent style bulbs. I can adjust as necessary to reduce shadows or to retask my table. I also added a bright ceiling mounted recessed LED fixture of the aimable spotlight variety. Combine those with the windows in the room and the standard lighting fixtures and I have AMPLE light. It was worth the setup trouble 10 times over. The downside is that if I don't turn the lights off, it appears that my Renzetti and my reloading press are some weird modern art display, amongst a congested background of tools and shelves of supplies. At least that art is the type that really speaks to me.

    I use a Giraffe magnifier (don’t know if still available) which is rimless & a separate full spectrum light. I tried the ring light, & when I needed to peer around the light section to pick tools or material, having to look around the light part drove my eyes nuts. The rimless magnifier lets me continue looking at the fly while using peripheral vision to find & pick up the needed item. Before you buy the combination of ring light & magnifier, it’s a good idea to test it before buying to see if it works well for you.

    I incorporated an inexpensive desktop magnifying lamp (similar to the one in the video ) and I set it up over the vice. And when I forget my glasses, ( 99% chance I will) the magnifier fills in. If you can't see it, you can't tie it!

    What is the fly you have in the vise? It’s a slick looking little streamer.

      The last light that collapses down is my go to right now. Only problem is that because of its lithium ion battery it must be carried on a plane and can't be checked. I get slowed up in the TSA line almost every time.

      @@tightlinevideo You probably already thought of this, but in case you haven’t … Tim, can you remove the battery when you travel & just rely on plugging in to ac/dc at your destination? It would end the TSA slowdown if you can remove it.

      That was the Naturalight Smart Lamp D20. A few sewing machine supply companies sold it a few years ago, and I think Regal even sold it for fly tiers. Apparently it's no longer around so I guess it didn't hold up too well and fell out of favor.

    One of those ring lights with the magnifying lense would be good seeing as it is essential two tools in one.

      @duckdive08 2 года назад

      @@slickydicky good question..I don't know at the moment. But I purchased it at harbor freight. I also use it for model building and it does a great job. If I was to upgrade I would look for a model with LED rather then a florescent bulb.

      @@duckdive08 good to know. I have a big desk lap I use now and a magnifier from stofo that hook on the vice stem but it's pretty bulky. I figured one of those would safe room on the desk

      @@slickydicky that bus one reason I like it, it isn't bulky at all. Goes from one bench to another.

    LED lights will DESTROY your vision. Never use the dam things for any kind of close up work such as fly tying.

      I believe this idea is derived from old and now debunked research. Today nearly all lights worldwide are LED.
