Fascinating watching her work out that gate then nail it. The only WC racer I can think of who can blitz gates then blend in perfectly with any pure form demo run from the Interski vids you uploaded recently.
Yeah, what a great observation. I think much of her success is just that, perfection. Proves everyone wrong, good looking drills and technical demos is not the opposite of fast on the racing track. Thanks for watching and hopefully I can release some Interski footage from the Japanese team later this spring and summer. Cheers, Tom
Enjoyed this very much. Thank you. For any that may not know... The last image is Miki kneeling with the goat her family presented at her homecoming celebration about a month ago. I think Miki decided to name that goat "The Literal Goat". 🤣
I have a new video on Shiffrin in the editing phase. It will be released this weekend. Yes, it is all about the flow. This second video will be even more about the flow. Beautiful skiing. Cheers, Tom
@@ardenpowers7730 when attending the Interski event I saw with own eyes that even if the best skiers of each nation could all be regarded among the best skiers in the world, still the technical demos were different and many times not so impressive from a Shiffrin standpoint. If you understand what I mean... can we make things better at the basic level? Yes we can!!!
Wow, thanks for that comment. This music is totally new on the RUclips creators portal. This Indian vibe goes very well with skiing in my opinion. Glad to hear some one else feels that was as well. Cheers, Tom
Hi Tom, I've noticed that some skiers (like Mikaela or Sebastian Foss-Solevag) ski with their back straight, while others (like Henrik Kristoffersen, and Chris!) prefer skiing a bit slouched Do you think that one is more correct than the other, or is it just a matter of preference after all? Personally, I try to ski with my back straight in the flatter sections, but I always get a bit more slouched in the steeper places, or when I need to go really hard on the turn. What are your thoughts on the matter? Also, a request: will you consider making a video about edge configurations? Cheers, Chris
Thanks for asking. I think it is mostly a question of physiology and style. It is very hard to change. We have been working on straightening Chris back out and making a more upright stance but as you said yourself, in the WC you have different postures. And they are all really fast. Personally I think that small kids usually are very crouched over and the better they ski as small kids the more crouched over they are going to be when older. Actually Shiffrin and Foss Solevaag are the furthest aft during the transition. Look at the shin angle at transition? Totally upright. Are you requesting a ski edge tuning video?
@@Triggerboy62 Oh, you are right about Shiffrin/Foss being really aft during the transition! I could be completely off, but my guess is they are a bit more upright because it frees the tip of the skis, giving them a bit more speed. And of course, they have the muscles, and quickness, to make the transition and start edging really early in the next turn Yes, that is what I meant. It would be nice to see a video about ski tuning configurations and hear your thoughts on the topic
It's highly possible she'll remain the GOAT, she is so good and enduring. Even ignoring climate change. She remains passionate about ski racing and could have 4-5 years more.
We have had this discussion in the comments before. I think that GOAT is a label earned by an outstanding achievement. Its not an absolute. Makes sense? Cheers, Tom
Let’s see popov loose 10 lbs and run against her on a ladies course and see who wins . Pound for pound mass to mass inch to inch she IS the best slalom skier of all time

Great precise look at so many turns. Economy of motion at its best !
Thanks you Tom for sharing ! 😊
