Hi there brother I am from Malaysia I had been to Singapore via bus many times from the age of 7 till now, and I didn't encounter any kind of questions like this. For Malaysian passport holders Visa is not required as well. That is an added advantage for me. I, too, dont book room hotel rooms as well. Sometimes, I will book a hotel once entered Singapore only. I too havent experienced questions like where is yours return ticket mainly I dont prefer travelling via flight to Singapore since it is nearby and budget friendly. So far what I see is only Indian passport holders are being treated badly by the the Singapore Immigration. They should really stop this attitude. Sending a person back to their country is totally wrong without any valid reason.
