I have lived in LA , SF and Redding. LA was the best years of my life. SF was alright. Redding Ca, everything bad happened to me there, other than being killed. Not that they didn't try. I lived there 40 years, it is the worst I have ever seen. I've lived ALL OVER this country. Just saying, that was my experience. The police in Redding are very good. At least they were when I lived there. I also did volunteer work for womens refuge. I knew how bad it was. Most people I knew that lived there didn't know how bad it is was or is.
"Per capita" is the key word here. These are not heavily populated communities. If crime rates are high in smaller cities then you have higher rates of crime per capita
Exactly, this is reported using "relative risk" (reported in percentage %) which means if Red Bluff or Redding had the population that SF, Oakland, LA, or Sacramento had, there would be more crime. However Red Bluff and Redding together total only 109,569 pop. vs. San Francisco municipal 883,665 pop. as of 2020 which is 8 times lower. If you looked at the absolute numbers of crime committed in Red Bluff or Redding it would be no where near as high as the absolute crime numbers of these other large cities. More people, more crime.
And they count all crimes usually. Eureka ranked higher then Oakland and sf and LA and Sacramento.. how many ppl been killed there. Physically robbed at gun point? Not many. Not likely to happen to anyone there ever. But they count the fiends petty property crime and based on the per Capita thing it jumps them up. I feel perfectly safe in places with high petty drug crime rates bc i come from a place u have to worry about getting home not if some knock stole ur trash bin.
When I heard this place is "the most crime ridden place in Cali" I knew that couldn't be true. Hell just in the bay area they have Oakland, Richmond, Vallejo, bay point, San Leandro, all those places are extremely dangerous.
Yeah, I got to the car wash and Chevron station in South Marysville, lots of hobos and drugs down that way. It would help if the people running the gas stations and stores down there would quit giving them free drinks.

High property crime and lesser violent crimes but low-moderate homicide, robbery etc. most likely. A lot of poorer small cities and big small towns actually have high crime rates.
This is BS. We have crime, yes, no city is without it, but it's honestly not that bad here. And, for it to beat out Compton and San Francisco on the list, I don't buy it!
Don’t believe the crime rate in large democrat ran cities. They’re highly underreported. Red bluff is probably by the book. So it shows it’s crazy high when really we know where not to go.
Actually I think it's accurate but thing is the risk of being a crime victim from strangers is really pretty low in general, especially for most people who are not involved with the wrong crowd, even in cities like Compton. San Fran. has issues with homelessness and theft, even gang violence in certian neighborhoods but really isn't crime ridden in general and most of the city is actually quite safe. "High crime" is only relitively speaking. Yes, it is beautiful up there btw!
its not safe lived here my whole life come here and walk around at night and tell me you don't get a gun pulled on you or jumpped its happened to me more than once its all over this city
The Redding Police actually show up when called to help, even for minor matters. Therefore there are more recorded incidents than in SF, where somebody has to be dead.
Wow, I was born and raised in the Redding Ca area. I hear alot of crime and drugs going on.. They should come rate Shasta Lake City ( aka Central Valley) alot of home.. property burglaries and cars being stolen and broken into. Cant even walk around town here in Shasta Lake day or night without something going on. Businesses are being vandalized and children are not safe at the parks anymore.

Homelessness, drugs, lack of jobs and willpower to work, lack of fun activities and a community/culture that has desperately needs passion and pride in their city Redbluff needs something cool and fun for the teens to do--- or else teens and adults seek drugs to fill the void Red bluff and Redding could be FULL of mountain bike trails, ziplines, hiking trails, bungie jumping etc..... Downtown Redding needs more trees--- they cut too many down If gang violence and criminal violence is a thing---- it needs to be STOMPED OUT......... People should never feel bored in the town they live..... they should make the best of what they have---- the sac river should have more hikes and pedestrian/bike bridges
