    An excellent demonstration of how adaptable our stations can be and we can succeed from faliure. Well done.

    Fine activation and well made video! There´s nothing really "failed".....you still did the best you could with what was still possible. So - everything top. Thanks for the video - i´ve to try the next activation also with a NVIS-configuration...👍👍

    Great video for showing how things fail in the field and you end up having to go to plan B. I like your comment about having the HT for making smoke signals.. You had me laughing with the snake bit. LOL.

    Does the solar panel charge the battery while youre using it? Or do you have two batteries- one in use, one charging ? Great stuff thank you!

    What balun did you use? Do you have any recommendations on other types as well? I am currently studying for my basic license in Canada. Thank you in advance.

      Sorry for the late reply. This is a dipole antenna without a balun. Sometimes I use 1:1 Thanks for watching. I was off the RUclips for a while.

    Is your radio 6 meter? I didn't think NVIS could work at a frequency that high? I am really new to this. Thanks for the video

      @RadioAdventurer  Год назад

      Hi, thanks. No it's not. NVIS works best at 80-40m.

    Most likely, you had CMC problem, which knocks out your audio. RF chokes plus top quality usb data cable will fix it

    Congratulations.
    A cuanta distancia te llegaste a comunicar en NVIS? A cuántos metros sobre el nivel del suelo debo colocar una antena horizontal?
    Cheers.

    • @RadioAdventurer

      Hi, thanks! Usually 0-500 km, maybe even 600km. The most reliable frequencies are between 1.8 MHz and 7 MHz. NVIS antenna configuration is a horizontally polarized radiating element that is 1/4 wave above the ground. I'm using 7MHz dipol, 3m above ground for my home station. In this video antena is 50cm above ground for "extreme" NVIS :) and it works!

      @@RadioAdventurer estupendo. Pero al estar muy cerca al suelo, la antena no empieza a interactuar con el suelo y la ROE aumenta??
      thanks

    Good effort sorry PC failed I did some WWFF on FT8 JS8 and my Laptop made it to 44 qso in 3 hours but was sacred battery would run out. Did you tell the FT 891 menu 11-05 you want to use data port not mic. I have same SCU 17/FT 891 set up as you it works very well, but I have trouble to see PC screen in field being old guy with glasses. regards vk5cz ..

      My laptop has a new battery and it can't work for 1 hour ... 😤
      11-05, hm I don't think I changed that part in the settings, I have to check. Thanks for the advice!

      @@RadioAdventurer The radio still will PTT but unless change Menu 11-05 to SELECT from MIC to REAR nothing goes out the data port at back of rig. don't for get to return to MIC otherwise cw or ssb won't work HI.

    Holy smoke, that is LOW for a 40m dipole - well done on getting such a low SWR at that deployment height. EA5HQ

    'When everything else fails, we have our HT, or smoke signals...' Classic. But, I have to ask - did you really fail? I don't think that you did. You were adaptable, and you were able to make contacts. So, I wouldn't call that a fail.

    • @RadioAdventurer
      @RadioAdventurer  2 года назад

      It was just a joke!
      And you're absolutely right. Sometimes, I go to the field and make just one contact. For me, it's a success like making a thousand contacts. Thanks! 👍🏻
