Thank you so much Sister D. for sharing from the bottom of your heart and soul. There are so many teachings in just one hour, but so many years of your life studying and practicing in order to understand and transmite the knowledge to others. For me this means an extraordinary gift full of your generosity. Lots of hugs. EC.

No not about conservatives per se, she said it clearly, a specific TYPE of conservative who also happens to be "low in contentiousness". And it was just a recitation from an article so not her own opinion. I hope that clarifies it sufficiently 😌🙏

39:10 _"We are so willing to contribute millions of dollars, billions of dollars, to provide aid, weapons to Ukraine, to fight this war which I'm very grateful for..."_
The first precept of Buddhism that all adherents must follow, both laity and monastics, is not to kill. The Buddha never said he was "very grateful" for the creation of a single weapon and Thầy never said he was "very grateful" for the creation of a single weapon. No follower of the Buddha, let alone a monastic, should ever say they are "very grateful" for billions of dollars to be spent on the creation of weapons that are now not only directly creating hundreds of thousands of deaths in Ukraine but is also creating a genocide caused by food shortages that will lead to over a million deaths around the world over the next year.
And to those that will say that I'm taking her words out of context and she was just taking about humanitarian aid my response is that she should've been more mindful of what she said and not included her gratitude for the "weapons... to fight this war" in her talk.

Extremely great point. I meam this nun won’t directely oppose to US governement. That’s why she said i’m grateful. However to be grateful to finance war...is also a kind of shoking even if she rectifie just after. May be it’s just her personal meaning...i wish Sister could make a clarification.

I completely agree! We are mere pawns in wars .... millions have died and been severely injured for their country, government's leaders greed and vile reasons to go to war and murder fellow human beings ... brothers and sisters of the same Creator of the Universe.....😢
