    Glad you guys liked Fort DeSoto better than we did. We had the same weather (well, we were there at almost the same time) and we were in the no-pets section. Maybe better weather may have helped us enjoy our stay, but we don’t plan on returning. Oh, I think the shower houses are a little better in the other section. -Jim

      Sorry you guys had such a bad experience. Hopefully the next time we stay there the weather will be nice. I'm wasn't a big fan of the shower houses.

    That was funny Katrina thinking it was moving on out from the Jeffersons. Funny! But ya I think that park looked nice. I have been in bath house like that one. My brother in law had an Rv with a wet bath. We never used the wet bath. We used the campgrounds. We ruffed it in a TT. And then in a pop up. A few years ago he wanted to get a class C. That is a shame about the weather not being good while you were there. That you could have enjoyed it better. How was the bike ride? That’s nice they had a dog park. I would stay there. Thank you for the video. Have a great day and week. See you soon! Stay safe!

    There’s another fort at the mouth of Tampa Bay on Egmont Key that is fun to explore. You either have to take your own boat or take the ferry to it. We’ve been going to Fort Desoto since the mid 70s. The Manatee visitor center is open from Thanksgiving weekend to Easter weekend. The Manatees disperse once the water warms up in the spring. I know of places in Tampa Bay that they go to during mating season that interesting to see!😅 Residents of Pinellas county get a months head start for reservations also. We usually get sites 140-150 so we can bring our boat also.

    • @oureverydaygetaway
      @oureverydaygetaway  4 месяца назад

      Didn't know about that fort. We'll have to check it out. Not sure we want to see mating season.😬 That would also be a reason it's so hard to get a reservation.

      We went there on Feb 2 and rode our bikes on the bike trails and then through the campground. Bike trails and beach were awesome, We had a sunny day!! The campround was tight with a huge canopy of trees. Thought it would be a good place to be in the warmer season because of the canopy of trees offering shade. Not so much for the cool and cloudy times of year, like this winter in Florida. Talona Ridge in Ellijay Georgia after Florida and then back to Md from there for us. Enjoy your travels.

    We like Fort Desoto, my only concern would be lots of what appeared to be low branches or narrow sites.
    That pull thru would have worked for us, im sure there are other sites there.
    We will be pulling with a 30 ft HDT...so we need a little space...not 40 achers.
    We stayed uo in Chrystal River , about 80 - 90 minutes north of there, beauti place and there were many Manatee tours & viewing stations.
    Thanks for sharing...we appreciate it..😊😊😊

    • @oureverydaygetaway
      @oureverydaygetaway  4 месяца назад +1

      The trick would be to book as early as possible to reserve a pull through site. Sounds like we need to stay at Chrystal River in the future. Thanks for sharing.😊

    What happened to the sound? You say it’s hard to get a reservation, why were so many empty?

    • @tinacox1914
      @tinacox1914 5 месяцев назад +1

      Because people book multiple campgrounds for the same dates and don't cancel the ones they are not going to utilize per the park rangers at the state parks. We asked why so many were empty when the website reservation system shows that it was booked full. The park rangers dislike the system. At least the one we talked to wasn't happy with it. He wanted the abusers of the system fined.

    • @johnnunya4776
      @johnnunya4776 5 месяцев назад

      It seems to be a problem at a lot of Parks. People who abuse the system should be held accountable.

    • @oureverydaygetaway
      @oureverydaygetaway  4 месяца назад

      Guess it's the chance you take booking so far in advance. Last year at this time it was absolutely gorgeous. We have no interest in the show except to meet other like minded people and enjoy the atmosphere. Quite a few of our friends come down so it's also fun getting to hang out with them.
