    You are so right about the pause. My coach and friend Archie Wood has put the pause into my cue action , but most of all he has told me how to sight the cue lineand stand correctly with the right foot under the cue line. knowing about the cue action gives you the knowledge to correct your game when things are not right . I realy do rate your advice it is top drawer . I did also know Patsy Houlihan a truley great cueman. thanks

    TOP VID!!!!!! thanks again Neil : ) very clear and concise....... wouldnt mind seeing a vid on how you would excecute a pause.... i used to never pause (like in this vid) but it can help with pressure pots

    im zia from INDIA..great advice there on cue action and timing...found it really helpful.....was trying to add the pause into my cue action because everyone recommended it..but i found it to be harmful to my flow and to my concentration..really hampered with my potting ability as well....
    lost interest in the game for a brief moment too cause i was thinking i am not playing properly and had some other faults in my game which i just couldnt find...now my game is just fine...thanks neil !!!!

    thank you for your honest opinion ......please note though playing and talking at the same time is a little distracting and also i could have started the clip all over again from the beginning ,so it appears to be done 1st time but i keep any errors in to keep it real

    My god the man is right. I tried too change my timing due to a bad youtube clip that didnt tell me what Neil did (dont do it without a coach) and now I cant even find my old timing, now my game feels wrong all the time, even when I am on the right line. My confidence is on the floor. The moral of the story DONT TRY IT ON YOUR OWN!

    That's a lovely cue action you have by the way.

    thank you phil ........and you are quite correct about the harshness and not ethical ........and it has been taken onboard.....you too have a message

  • @neilmaxman
    @neilmaxman  15 лет назад +2

    if you listen to snooker tips he tells you to pause at the front and pause at the back........and this is totally wrong and causes a snatch in the cue action........and also if you watch said clip again he also mentions your eyes moving to and from the object ball .........that isn't cue action .....that is sighting........the reason i "copy" as you claim is to highlight the mistakes that are being made.......as for the 50 break without a rear pause absolutely no problem keep a look out for it

    down to individual mate, you can feather/ sweep, feather and sweep,stop then sweep, short backswing and just follow through,these all affect your tempo/timing, i've seen them all! just one rule i thing you need to either slow down when you are transitioning from back to through or pause, personally the longer i pause the bigger the chance ill twitch or move! willie thornes action always interested me, so did steve james

    @kokomrkoko i've been asked this loads of times and it has nothing to do with potting balls or anything .......its mainly more to do with nervous habit

    Hi Neilmaxman ,
    I’ve started playing this game for two years and now I am addicted to it. But I am still not settle with one method of my two methods. When I prepare a shot, 1. As I move cue under my chin,I can see the path of cue’s as it moves back and forward. 2. I don’t see the path of the cue, but only the object ball. The problem with my first method was I end up leaning whole my heads in lil awkward position to put my left eye directly above the cue. Since I am new to this game, I don’t know which method should I stick with as I am not too sure which method to choose. I think I can improve my game much better if I settle with one technique. I am pretty sure that my elbow and arms are stable and right method. Normally when you explain you have to deliver cue straight, do you see the path of cue as if it was running from you eye ? I haven’t seen any videos explaining about that , rather they says your not cueing it straight. Please help me pick a method. Thank you very much.

    I started to to the pause on my own after a couple of weeks of getting a little table, and was wondering if I was developing a bad habit. So it's all good then, I can keep doing it?

    I have quite a fast cue action and tend to hit it quite hard but I always get right through the ball, do I need to slow down my cue action?

  • @neilmaxman
    @neilmaxman  15 лет назад

    a pause is very difficult to put into your game unless its done properly , if its not done properly this will have a poor effect on your cue action

    Hey neil.. Its been a pleasure watching all ur videos.. I have been playn this amazn game since the last 5 yeats without any formal traning.. M having difficulty with my grip.. My hand turns by the time i hit the cue ball.. Any solutions plz.. Thanks

  • @neilmaxman
    @neilmaxman  13 лет назад

    @the147break you really don't need to take the cue back that far .........difficult for me to judge without seeing .......but a shorter backswing should help

    not sure if you're comments are about myself or someone else......for the record ....i have been a professional player for nearly 20 years and a professional coach for 15 years ...the full qualification i have is currently held by less than 30 people in the world .....for full proof ......please take a look at snooker pro tips 47 and also put my name in any search engine ........neil

    Watch the videos he's told you about as he shows you his credentials. You can also find him on the World Snooker website where he, and all the other WPBSA coaches are listed. If you still don't believe him after that, then that's fine. Those of us more trusting and less cynical can continue to benefit from his wonderful videos

    hi fradaja .......you need to take a look at my clip on straight cueing .......more than likely if youre cue is off line on the back swing its because you're feet are out of line .......take a look at the clip and hopefully it will help you out ........neil

    Last time i happened on this vid i thought it was just left on nothing happening.Seems people are now commenting i will.
    Why are people dissing this guy.he is passing on some advice for free and tbh it isn't bad advice.
    Okay i think it a little harsh to mention the other guys tips being wrong,he should have refrained but they were wrong....but i'm allowed to say that.
    @Neil..hello bud i've sent a msg asking you a question as i struggle with one or two points ,if you have time.. .greetz phil

    its funny that i look at the center of the white when im stood up, then i see the angle, put my cue into position on that angle, followed by my head! but i drop straight down onto shot i do not lean,but hardly ever look at the object ball once im down, i'm a reasonable amateur it just strikes me there is no wrong or right here!.....one thing is a fact, if you don't strike the white where you intended, it aint gonna hit the object ball where you intended!

  • @neilmaxman
    @neilmaxman  12 лет назад

    don't take the left foot too far over........you're roughly trying to keep you're feet shoulder width apart ....i've done a couple of clips on this and you can find them on my channel........2nd ......all players are different ........as long as the head isn't too far off the cue ........and as long as you keep the head still you don't need you're chin rubbing the cue ......and players dropping the shoulder is a different reason ....again i have done a clip on this

    Clevertrev...of course the gentleman will be able to get a 50 break but thats not the issue nor is it relevant.
    He is trying to offer you FREE advice on how to do something in the correct manner (his qualification doesn't matter either) if its correct..which it is then accept it.Better try it.
    Abusing him for doing so is purile and makes you look the idiot not him.

    some people are so thick with their comments about this guy isn't as good as the other guy which i wont name, does hendry or o'sullivan have a coach yes they do and are their coaches as good as them no they are not. some of the best football coaches wasn't top players as long as they know what they are talkin about thats it. i'm no expert but i agree with all of what neilmaxman has said.

      Hi Neil I am confused where to look CB or OB when doing cue action, I use to look at CB when pulling back cue and on pushing the cue I look at OB.
      Please help where to look on hole shot

    This guys a doughnut! He paused on his back swing every time. It doesn't sound like your alignment is the problem fella, you should be looking at the object ball not the white, thats what the pause is for to allow your eyes to move from white to object ball. I hope he's not a coach.
