@@AmorMori to be honest, I completely love it. But depends on what your needs are. For me, I just wanted a personal speaker I could fit into my pocket, with not overly strong bass, but still had clear sound and didn't sound tinny or cheap. I wasn't set on filling up a party room, just something for work, small gatherings, game nights or videogaming. Pros: - compact, light, can fit in my pocket - love the red color, and the lights feature. Others love the different light settings too - just about waterproof - has good sound, and the low volume is enough to hear while at work without disturbing others - perfect to carry around and use during chores - has a clip Cons: - Of course, it is a small speaker and won't fill a room with sound. I've used it in a party of about 20 people before, but even on loudest setting, it's hard to hear the music clearly with lots of conversation - newer JBLS are heavy on bass that you can feel (on scale of 1-10, they're probably 8-10). This one is maybe a 3-4. You can hear it, but won't feel it. If there's a lot of background noise, you won't hear it at all. - battery life is ok. It's about 3-4 hours, but using the lights will obviously shorten the time. - took me awhile to discover, but there's no dedicated play/pause button. You press the power button, and that's how you play/pause the media. Verdict: Like I said, I think it's a great speaker, I absolutely love it, and I would recommend it to others, especially at the $20 price I got on sale for. I would get it even at $30. Voices, podcasts and music is great and clear. But if you want something for parties or to feel music with strong bass and power, I would look elsewhere. Hope this helps!
I know I'm a little late to the post but for the JBL there is a pad on the back. Seems to get better performance (at least with mine) when you lay it on the pad on the back.
@@JaysStraightUpReviews people also need to know exactly what you showed since if you plan to hang it from the loop the performance is different. Also thank you for this head to head as I was looking at the Altec since both of these are on sale right now at BestBuy.
Shower speaker? I want a speaker that's loud enough so I can't hear myself singing (and I use that term with the loosest definition possible) while I'm showering - so I bring my Mifa Wildbox into the bathroom and turn it up 🙂. That I can't hear SWMBO shouting at me to turn the music down is a bonus... 🙂 I can see these mini speakers being more useful for activities like hiking (or hashing, which is kind of like hiking, with more beer involved). When you want some musical accompaniment, but don't want to carry something that's heavy or keeps one of your hands occupied holding it.
I wrote you several suggestions but they disappeared. Accidentally deleted? Anyway. Anything by T&G mimics JBL but with added features like radio and 2 input drives for music that doesn't rely on Bluetooth or phone. They are quarters on the dollar of what JBLs cost. If you want loud, the bigger the T&G the more rude loud it gets.
@@user-ok5xp9bf8d That's when they were a quality company, the crap they have now is pathetic, someone bought the name to market with, but didn't do the product justice (I've bought and returned several of their BT speakers, sounds like a Vivitar, iHome, iLive crap vs a real contender). When they made great stuff (I used one of their PA amps in my home theater for years) you'd feel like their family name was smeared like this is bud light vs a real beer.
good review! i got the jbl go 3 in black, girlfriend got red. plus i got a blue clip3 from while back, it would make mr hand a nice little buddy in the shower! lmfao!! i just use mine for podcast for night time duties...

@@JaysStraightUpReviews Hello, greetings. I'm interested in this Altec HydraBlast speaker. I'd like to know if it's good? Do you have good bass? Do you recommend this speaker? 🤔🤔
I have a hydra mini but im about to get a camo jbl charge 5 after saving up, im exited to just compare them both knowing jbl would just dominate it lol 😂
@JaysStraightUpReviews I just got charge 5 for 119 for the cyber Monday sale and I got the camo I'm pretty exited to hear some bass, thanks for the heads up!
Definitely the JBl speaker is way better louder with bass
Thanks for the review. Just got a Hydra Mini on sale for $20, can't wait to try it out 👍
😎 awesome
lost info that come with it thanks
Did you like it? I got it as a gift, it was also on sale but I saw some comments saying it was not that good

@@AmorMoriit’s great
You did a perfect job it was the 2 i was choosen
Inhave 2 of the altec speakers and i use them in my rc trucks
Great video. LOL I put the encore essential in the bathroom for a shower. LOL 🤣

Thanks for pointing that out. It does, however, then send the sound straight up instead of at you.when the speaker is standing up.

Mini very clear and cheaper finna go buy it
in my experience the hydramini battery doesnt last real long and it begins to die prematurely so ill take the go 3
I had the Go 3 but the battery life was so short I had to send it back.

As much as I like speakers I still use a small speaker in the shower. If I did something like you are doing it would draw a red flag from the wifey. 😡

lost manual where can I download or look at thanks
Manual for what?
I like Altec Lansing..the sound Is great
If you think this sounds great, I can;t imagine what you would think of a real speaker. Might blow your mind completely. 😆
Do you research on altec Lansing's PA systems of the late 70s and early 80s. Then talk bad about them lol

Try the W-king S18
Just checked and that appears to be an old speaker. Pretty sure I had a rebranded one just like it a few years ago and it was not good.
El hydramini suen más completo sin exageran en el volumen, par mi gana el Altec, tiene un sonido más completo y más cálido, mis respetos.
