I just bought a pre-owned Dell D830 15.4" notebook by mail. It has two problems. The cursor speed cannot be controlled, the speed setting doesn''t work. I use the rubber track-mouse in the middle of the keyboard, and I wonder, is it a hardware problem or a software problem? It came with Vista Home installed. Second problem, it makes a lot of static noise, in rhythm with the little light flashing under the edge of the lid. I've put it up for re-sale in case I can't find a way to fix these two things. Is your Windows 7 Ultimate? Because some days before my Windows 7 crashed and installed new, but I didn't knew that Windows 7 has different Editions. So he installed Professional. I can't install the driver. Is this Driver for Ultimate? I also want Ultimate, so I will install Ultimate in some time. So just wanted to know if this driver works in Ultimate. I want this driver for Full Mouse Speed.
Drivers are made for the windows architecture like 64 bits and 32 bits, the versions just gives you extra features only, like car variants.. So check your operating system is 32 bit or 64 and accordingly download the driver.. Go to my computer icon right click and click on properties.

chap when i go into the dell touchpad, it just shows the mouse icon and not the nub/ TrackPoint settings or actual touchpad settings
Whatever the option you are getting just on and off that and then save it, that will also work

WAIT I FOUND IT! guys to anyone experiencing the same problem, go to touchpad, and if theres no option for TrackPoint/nub and the actual touchpad icons but theres only mouse icon, u simple open mouse setttings. then once ur in, choose whatever setting u want. then close every window. DO NOT shut down, only restart, as it will establish the changes you have made and set them. more than likely, ur changes will reset once ur restart, and that a good sign. then once and for all go through the changes again, but this time u should see ALL the icons, that means it will properly establish ur made changes. then if you want you can shut down and start again to see if it works if u want proof of this comment not being clickbait

But extension mouse is not properly working (same problem, mouse pad and extension mouse)
I used Bluetooth mouse , u can update the driver from dell website.
