  • Thanks to our friends at Airmax this video shows you how to select the right aerator for you pond, how to install it, and how to maintain it. It also includes some information on why a pond aerator is so helpful for helping a pond stay in better shape.
    Many people might be surprised to learn that you don't necessarily need to hire a professional installer to get an aerator set up in your pond or lake. In fact the majority of pond owners do it themselves without a lot of hassle. This video will walk you through the process of installation and discuss how to get your aerator up and running quickly.

    If we installed an Hiblow HP-120LL aerator, would we be able to run an underground air hose from the house such as in this video? I'm concerned about over stressing the pump, but it would be nice to not run power to the shoreline. Thank you, and love your videos.

      Hey Michael...thanks for the kind words...so yeah, I would really check with the manufacturer to see what kind of airline runs this pump can handle...well also depth would be a factor. Tell them about your intended set up and see what they think. These pumps are all a bit different...some have higher tolerances than others. All in all though if a pond has much depth, say over 6', or your running airline 100's of feet...these linear pumps may not handle anything beyond that...in that case you are far better off looking at a rocking piston design. But if this pump will spec out properly for your situation, then it should be a viable tool for aerating.

    Time to move into rotary vane world, Everything turns in the same direction and virtually never fails and minimal noise?

    • @klmponds
      @klmponds  3 года назад +1

      John...we sell a lot of rotary vanes to industry...but they only work in limited depths...the brunt of the industry is using rocking pistons for a reason...they work well, hold up well for the most part, and have gotten quieter in recent years. I have no complaints. But use what you like...hard to argue with that.

      @@klmponds Just curious on rebuild intervals. Had my rotary vane shop compressor for 10 years running at 150 psi all day long with zero issues in my machine/fab shop. What has been your experience on rebuilding?

    • @klmponds
      @klmponds  3 года назад

      @@Filmpilot Thanks for the question. I've had rotary vanes crap out and need rebuilding in 2 years so you did well. I've had rocking pistons go 10 years with nothing done. So it just depends. On average you can figure about 3 to 5 years before any rebuild needs to be done. But that's on average...it could be slightly sooner or it could be a lot longer.

      Hello Rolante...we generally don't work outside the US I'm sorry to say, but if you want to email me with more details on what you are needing to aerate...the size, and the depth, and the reason you are wanting to aerate, I can see if we can find someone in your region who may be able to help. Email is support at klmsolutions.com

    Why can't you run the air line in place of the electric and have it hooked up at the pond leaving the area clean of any boxes or electric boxes? Once at the pond then hook it up. Would you need a larger pump to do this?

    • @klmponds
      @klmponds  3 года назад

      You can certainly do that with a remote manifold by the pond and pump by the power source, wherever that may be. Some types of aerators will accomidate this and others, may not...the shallow pond aerators aren't built to handle much depth or backpressure usually so I try to get those close to the pond if I can. Anything with a rocking piston pump though could be run from a long ways away.

    Can you put a divider hose for 5 ponds sizes 5x20 meters 5 1/2 feet deep for 1airmax aerator? Will it be ok? And is this aerator good for running 24/7?

    • @klmponds
      @klmponds  6 лет назад

      Hi Alvin...I think I understand your question correctly but the way you would do this is have a multi valve arrangement at the pump and off that, let's say for each pond, you'd have a line running to each one with a single diffuser at the end of it. That way you have full control over the air flow to each. Generally we don't suggest any kind of T off or daisy chain because the air will always go to the point of least resistance, meaning shallower diffusers or those that are closer. But as far as a set up to cover multiple ponds with single aerator, yes, that's simple enough to do.

    • @KLMPublications
      @KLMPublications 7 лет назад +2

      Ideally you want to run the aerator 24/7...most are designed to run that way just fine. At a very minimum, consider running 12 hours per day...no less. And as to what time of day to run limited, I would do it overnight and into the morning hours after daylight. Hope this helps!

    What is the maximum capacity of defuser you can install on a 1 airmax sw40 unit?

    • @klmponds
      @klmponds  6 лет назад

      Hi Alvin...I'm not sure what you mean by max capacity? Basically the only manufacturing rating on this system is depth...6' max. The SW40 uses 4 diffusers...and generally speaking this is used to cover up to a 1/2 acre pond.

    • @aliboy4918
      @aliboy4918 6 лет назад

      Does the airmax sw40 with airline has 4 airlines with the airflow manifold assembly with 4 outlets? And what is the length of each airline?

    • @klmponds
      @klmponds  6 лет назад +1

      Correct...4 way valve manifold, each line has it's own valve...4 diffusers, and the system comes in two options...no airline so you can customize the lengths, or 400', 4x100' rolls, which is the maximum this system can use. Some airline runs can be longer than 100', you can couple sections together, but generally speaking the total can't be over 400' as it would put too much back pressure on the pump. This is also why the max depth is 6'.

    Did this system applicable for shrimp ponds? If applicable what is the DO rate

    • @klmponds
      @klmponds  6 лет назад

      Hi Suresh...I'll be totally honest in saying that I haven't dealt much with shrimp ponds. I think over the years one or two customers have used these aerators...particularly the shallow pond systems, for shrimp operations. In my initial research years ago I think most shrimpers use the paddle aerators most of the time.

    Will this help lower coliform levels?

    • @klmsolutions
      @klmsolutions 5 лет назад +1

      Hi Dude...I don't think aeration on it's own will do it. It would be very good to have because of what I'm going to suggest because it would support restoration of the pond a great deal. Probably the best route to deal with coliform bacteria is to kill them outright...chealated copper or something like our Earthtec algaecide would be advised. I would follow that up in a few weeks with some good microbials...our PondBiotix 10 is an example. Sort of like taking a probiotic after you've taken some antibiotic...you want to populate the good bugs in there and get them to clean much of the environment up. If you need specific links to these, please email me directly mark@klm-solutions.com and I can send them along.
