like your reviews a lot more then Jamie at FYD, at least you have the balls to say something you don't like to the owner and not just say its awesome to not upset the owner.
Thanks, Adam. I own a clean completely standard '96 Spec. Would you be interested in shooting it some time? Will be in your neck of the woods in about a months time so I could pop in to the shop.
Amazing car and review, big fan of yours Adam all the way from little old New Zealand. I'm grateful to say I own a very clean dc2 type R that I've owned for 12 years and I still think it's the best drivers car for the price bracket. Just a question I thought all 98 spec dc2's came out with steering wheel air bags and a front passenger air bag? Can anyone clear this up for me?
Most did, but pretty much everything was an option delete on them. The most "stripped down" was the no air con, no abs, no airbags, no radio, no parcel shelf, no third brake light. I've never actually seen a 98 without the air con, but it was an option. MIne is the next level of stripped down. It has the air con, but none of the other stuff(I since got a radio and a parcel shelf for it). Noticed that this yellow one doesn't have ABS or the third brake light either.
Glad to helpTB :) I've long been fascinated by the little differences across the range and how many little differences they had across the different markets too(anal bastard that I am. :D). TBH It's why I was never keen on seeing say North American folks putting JDM fronts on them. If I was a collector type, I'd want the original. Oh and there's an even rarer again Yellow with Yellow Recaros, a _tiny_ run of LHD of all things Swiss market ones with the four headlight fronts and yellow Recaros. The Canadian only ones that had red rear seats too are another oddball. Between those two I'd say they're the rarest of all DC2 R's(followed by the JDM PY and Vogue Silver). For such a relatively small run car that Honda lost money on every one sold, they really did seem to tailor them for every market, however small. Even in my even more _tiny_ local market Ireland(if they even sold ten I'd be surprised), the "local" ones had a different rear light cluster(same as JDM/EDM) to the nearby other damp island Britain. :)
If you're ever over in South Wales, you can have the keys to my Honda Beat if you'd like. Fresh import and finally with a fixed roof thanks to my mate silicone.
Drooling! Seen this on torque gt few years back. Drooling then aswell! Great to know where it ended up! The mother of all dc2 rarity😁😁 what a treasure👌 great review Adam!
You should review dannydc2's dc2 now and compare a relatively standard one to a highly modified one... Once again great video and keep up the good work man
any info if i cant get such wheel lug nuts spacers for the EG? I Got some Volk Steel lug nuts but i want them to stand out a bit further cos they nearly hide fully info my oem honda wheels
phsychoticpotatoe9 7 i was just getting into racing back when these were new. on paper they didnt seem like much. but seeing them on a track, especially one with lots of tight turns and it starts to make sense. the fastest ive even seen a car go thru a slalom was an integra type r.
phsychoticpotatoe9 7 oh dont get me wrong i dont like them either. why i have one for rally racing. i dont feel bad about messing it up. regular integra. not a type r. wouldnt do that to a type r.
I've driven both pretty extensively and I own a DC2. The DC5 is a great car, don't get me wrong. Feels more modern, more torque too and less bare, but as a drivers car IMHO there's no contest. Plus now these are going into the classic market, a (stock) DC2 R will be more valuable than a DC5 down the line.
hey I have a 1999 Civic hatchback DX I'm swapping in a b16a2 or a b18c GSR but which engine is the best I and I have a RUclips channel called Honda Street Japan KANJO SPOON
I have a b16a2 in my ek civic and it is honestly great, I cant speak for the b18 as ive never driven a car with one. But in my books you can't fault the b16a2.
Damn right A. To quote Dave Bowie; this is not America(tra la la la la). Yeah they can be a target for the scumbags, but with proper security they're pretty safe and much more off the scum radar than they used to be. The scumbags have moved on to BMW's, Mercs and the like with their fancy fob keys where range extenders can make nicking them so easy. Though the insurance company suited scumbags... They think differently. Certainly where I am in Ireland(they're slightly less wankerish in the UK. _Slightly_). Price gouging pricks. Given I'm an old bastard closer in age to Jeremy Clarkson(though in better condition. Not difficult) and driving low enough mileage, with no claims and zero tickets/points on my full licence since when Duran Duran were still in the charts, I'm paying two grand a year in insurance so I can drive it as my daily car. _Third party_ Then again... It's reliable as granite. Over the last decade plus I've had mine it has cost less than 200 quid per year for _all_ maintenance(inc. elective go faster stuff like suspension). And has a big and useful boot and can return high 30 MPG(if driving carefully). And when even a trip to the local supermarket can get the revs and blood up. _Totally_ effin worth it. :)
Would be perfect without the ricer lug nuts
Ricer lug nuts..... your brain is riced out for sure 😒
@@PutinIsKing They look awful and flashy. So yea, that´s what rice is essentially.
@@voyager7793 yup, plus they are prob alloy so a downgrade in safety. Utter rice sh1t.
The door panel material is usually black but with sun damage it faded to a blue color. The black recaros normally have this happen to them too.
definitely more car reviews like this! It's nice to see someones honest opinion. Loving ALL the content dude keep up the good work 🤙✌
like your reviews a lot more then Jamie at FYD, at least you have the balls to say something you don't like to the owner and not just say its awesome to not upset the owner.
Leave Jamie alone you dirty Willy
Love Jamie but never heard him say a bad word about a car :P
Sean Haywood I do agree but I love Jamie in general and I love his reviews. although he doesn't say anything bad.. not hating tho I watch all his vids
exactly how I felt. I owned a type R and was always wondering why their door panels were like that.. for the record.. I like my Crx more! :P
Thanks, Adam. I own a clean completely standard '96 Spec. Would you be interested in shooting it some time? Will be in your neck of the woods in about a months time so I could pop in to the shop.
luv these type of vids classic honda blastin down lanes excellent
It's nice to see you going back to your roots... honda type r's @Adam Ivell

MrGrentch awesome man, thanks for clearing that up👍😊

5:12 yes yes you're so right about that give me the outrageous vtec change over
That colour tho 👌🏻
While watching this, I was scrolling through eBay and I’m sure this car is for sale on there! Yellow & yellow recaros
The blue on the panels are the same colour blue as the blue tops but In stitching. That was the theme from what I've heard
They were black as new, but it fades to a blue tint. You can really see this fading on the tops of the rear seat backs on the majority of them. .
You should review dannydc2's dc2 now and compare a relatively standard one to a highly modified one... Once again great video and keep up the good work man
B Series is legit the OG. Plus every time it needs oil is an excuse to pop my bonnet.
Great video Adam! Such a sick car. Yes it is perfect. Loving the Vtec faces 😂
I love this car. yellow on yellow is perfect
Refurb the wheels and rocker cover then its mint!!
106 gti was also said to be the best fwd handling car
I'd love to drive one !
not a touch on the DC2
Very cool video :)) like the testdrive so much!
I must buy a DC2 ITR 😁
any info if i cant get such wheel lug nuts spacers for the EG? I Got some Volk Steel lug nuts but i want them to stand out a bit further cos they nearly hide fully info my oem honda wheels
Radically awesome car. LOVE IT.
Color combo lit af 😍
Please find a genuine y53 eg6 ! That would be unreal with the swan neck yellow seats
Check channel dude looked around one at mimms!
Adam Ivell sickkk 👍🏻👍🏻
Long life the B series!!
Great video, Adam.
Killer lug nuts, man.
Stunning, great vid 👍
Bit late to this video but the doorcards are faded. They're black from factory!
Cool video man. Im not a honda guy so not my fav but i like all your vids now. Watch that 13:52 vtec gasm face
phsychoticpotatoe9 7 i was just getting into racing back when these were new. on paper they didnt seem like much. but seeing them on a track, especially one with lots of tight turns and it starts to make sense. the fastest ive even seen a car go thru a slalom was an integra type r.
Texas Car Nerd yeah man i dont doubt their ability at all. I know people like them for a reason they're just not my cup of tea☕️ 😂
phsychoticpotatoe9 7 oh dont get me wrong i dont like them either. why i have one for rally racing. i dont feel bad about messing it up. regular integra. not a type r. wouldnt do that to a type r.
Adam how does it compare to the ek9 in terms of handling and the overall driving experience? I'm torn between getting a Dc2 or an ek9
Honestly I would need both cars and a race track for a fair comparison dude
lucky owner :D awesome one looks sick love it
Great video. Great car!! 👍
nice clean beautiful car type R!!!
thanks for a great video Adam ...
My favourite fact from the 90d in the rarest colour combo love the dc2
Yo so guys the market for these is getting fucked in the midwest.
Someone wants 9.5k for a rust free GSR with 160k on it XD
Door cards would have been black but the sun sadly bleaches them blue, likely the top of the rear seats will be the same.
ahhhh good shout.
used to have one, sold it for a crx :)
sick video sick car
VTEC hooligan! 😜
Adam you need a DC2 😉
Do more reviews like this
My car is awaiting your review 🙏🏼
Are you local to Colchester
Would you take a DC2 over a DC5?
After driving them both properly, yes I'd take the dc2
Wow ok, that's interesting, currently in the market for a DC5 after watching your video now I'm unsure D:
I've driven both pretty extensively and I own a DC2. The DC5 is a great car, don't get me wrong. Feels more modern, more torque too and less bare, but as a drivers car IMHO there's no contest. bananananananananaana car. looks lovely
You would go nuts with my friend b18c6 if you like b series over k. Thing has 250hp and is capable of 9300rpms... ;)
That’s cleannnn
Yellow recaros. Rare asf
hey I have a 1999 Civic hatchback DX I'm swapping in a b16a2 or a b18c GSR but which engine is the best I and I have a RUclips channel called Honda Street Japan KANJO SPOON
GSR has more torque than the b16 and a little more horsepower, If you have the money your best option is the B18c Type R
I have a b16a2 in my ek civic and it is honestly great, I cant speak for the b18 as ive never driven a car with one. But in my books you can't fault the b16a2.
Honda Street Japan KANJO SPOON b18 y21 box 😎
b18c
dc2 type r and ferrari 550 are the only 2 cars to use that momo wheel according dannydc2
The airbag Momo yeah, the one in the vid is the non airbag model.
Subaru use them too I think
Subaru have Momo alright, but not the exact same model. TBH I"m down with any maker who uses Momo of Nardi wheels.
I have a DC5 Type R and it has stock Momo steering wheel as well
danm nice type r
how does the VTEC sound sounds like? Grrrrrrrrrrrrr.............ihihihihihih :)
This guy looks like DT from arsenal fan tv. Cool review though.
Leon Otonglo haha I've actually met him too
I have one just like that with same interior but with a K20 instead of b18c :D
So you've owned all the DC5's in the UK, why have you never owned a DC2? :D
Aha I don't know! I picked the wrong one for sure
Wow,Adam you speaking seriously?
getting schwifty
dc2 started production in 1995
Okay well I was slightly wrong with a bit of info but when they're called "96 spec or 98 spec" it's hard to get info 100% right
ah you're grand just said I'd say it ...we all get things wrong ... Good vlog dude
93 actually...
Honda diaries dc2 spin off coming soon to the Adam ivell channel !!!
96 spec steering wheel? Pin it more in the corners, she can take it :-)
ya cus it has yellow stitch to match thats why
MmmmmmmmmmmYellowwww
not 1996
I got butthurt when he made that comment about Americans...only because it’s true lmao
Jackson get his Integra stolen after a week this video has been uploaded on youtube
Jason's integra is still in jasons hands & has not been stolen after any period of time
