Also I love how old kpop groups are all unique and fresh. Most girl groups nowadays use the same concepts that sometimes I think that they are almost just the same.
Before they were not many do all concepts were fresh. Right now there are so many groups that all concepts are saturated. Now there is more competition so they need to take it to the extreme. Look at vixx how did they got famous? Because of their extreme and weird concepts like Spatial vampires and voodoo dolls. Nothing is unique now.

Kpop is influenced by american pop directly,except instead of copy and paste, Korea is able to absorb all the music and push it further. And unlike USA market instead of switching from one genre trend to the next, kpop groups simply build upon it. Of course their outliers of other genres and subgenre, especially Korea always trying something new and isn't stuck in a music box by recording company playing safe for radio play and limiting producers not to do anything crazy. That all being said, the gen are simply reflection of american music a year after when it finally reach korea, hence 3rd gen would be autotune, dubstep breaks, rise of edm in kpop in general of the years 2011-2014. While the 2nd gen simply sounded like the early 2000s. And unlike the 1st gen and second gen, 3rd gen only lasted first half of 2010s, as trap popularized and became the main core of most kpop songs with rappers sections post 2014, just as smooth and slower R&b bridges were introduce in the late 2000s kpop and been a key factors in a lot of songs of any genre. As well as the resurgence of retro funk thx to bruno mars and tropical house thx to Justin bieber. With sprinkle of future bass and Latin music.

IMO, the Best KPop Age/Golden Age is the 2007, the birth of the KPop's Holy Trinity. Because for me, the groups that were born in 2009 were already products or results of what the Holy Trinity/2007's were, the legacy they made, the pride they brought to Korea and the the birth of girl groups in KPop. I mean, they really represented girl groups and worked sooooo hard those times specially that, that time where KPop was dominated by boy groups, they introduced the girl power and what women are also capable of, that not only men can do those things. And even that time, the big three wasn't known as big as they are today tho. And they already set the bar and the standards high. While the 2009's, continued and contributrd to the legacy that the Holy Trinity started and made, and brought KPop also to the bigger, better and higher standard. But still, 2007 and 2009 girl groups are in the same generation tho. THEY ARE REALLY THE TRUE LEGENDS OF KPOP.
For EXID I'm pretty sure they debuted with 6 people and then 3 of then left so they got replaced with solji and hyelin, thats probably why they looked different to you.

I love certain girl groups. My favorite years for girl groups was probably from the beginning of 2007 the golden age of kpop ruled by the holy trinity KARA Wonder Girls and SNSD to 2012. The best debut and most surprising I've ever seen though was Black Pink's. Now there's a new holy trinity consisting of Red Velvet, Twice, and Black Pink!

2ne1 really changed the game for girl groups, they were like " we're not here to play, bow down, girl power, don't need to be pretty or cute just need to be confident" ! 2007 and 2009 were the big years for girl groups, I'm sad to see most of 2nd generation group disbanding, I'm pretty sure f(x), After School and Secret are over and I don't have many hope for SNSD future if they disband this year well all the legendary groups will be over, it just make me sad :/

IMO, the Best KPop Age/Golden Age is the 2007, the birth of the KPop's Holy Trinity. Because for me, the groups that were born in 2009 were already products or results of what the Holy Trinity/2007's were, the legacy they made, the pride they brought to Korea and the the birth of girl groups in KPop. I mean, they really represented girl groups and worked sooooo hard those times specially that, that time where KPop was dominated by boy groups, they introduced the girl power and what women are also capable of, that not only men can do those things. And even that time, the big three wasn't known as big as they are today tho. And they already set the bar and the standards high. While the 2009's, continued and contributrd to the legacy that the Holy Trinity started and made, and brought KPop also to the bigger, better and higher standard.
But still, 2007 and 2009 girl groups are in the same generation tho. THEY ARE REALLY THE TRUE LEGENDS OF KPOP.

I love certain girl groups. My favorite years for girl groups was probably from the beginning of 2007 the golden age of kpop ruled by the holy trinity KARA Wonder Girls and SNSD to 2012. The best debut and most surprising I've ever seen though was Black Pink's. Now there's a new holy trinity consisting of Red Velvet, Twice, and Black Pink!
