Na king Cole was a highly talented piano player & singer. I've been his fan since my graduate days in the US early 1970s. I do like his daughter Natali. A beautiful singer who had international acclaim.
100 percent agree... when I hear nat king cole makes me cry cuz it reminds me of my gramps.. As a piano player.. going back to his King Cole Trio only hits me harder because you get to see his musicianship shine so brightly. Truly an inspiration and a gem of a musician! :D
How is it possible to play such wonderful piano while singing so incredibly well - and sitting sideways at the piano while looking at the audience? Amazing. Nat King Cole has to be seen to be believed!
Without exception, I listen to at least an hour's worth of Nat King Cole's music every week. Even now, 56 years after his tragic and untimely passing, his catalog is so vast that there are still revelations after all of this time. Not the least of those revelations are reminders like this one, of just how ahead of the curve he was. He is greatly, greatly missed.
I love Nat,a true piano genius with a splendid and warm voice and a very kind soul. His jazz is so elegant, funny, sometimes more complex or deep...There is one Nat,but all you know that,so..LOVE YOU NAT!!!
I love how they are obviously listening to each other; there’s no other way to play this well as an ensemble; wow, humans actually playing instruments what a concept
Nat Cole was on the greatest and most influential pianists we've ever had. It is almost a shame he was such a great singer because he did not play as much after he started singing.
Robert Rodrigues well Oscar Peterson would say all the time how Nat was one of if not his biggest influence. So it’s safe to say without Nat there’s no Oscar. But if they made a Mt. Rushmore of Jazz Pianist all three of them are up there. Billy Tipton is also an underrated jazz pianist to me.
@@robertrodrigues7319 Here's my unsolicited Top 10 favs (in no particular order) 1. Michel Petrucciani 2. Oscar Peterson 3. Errol Garner 4. Nat King Cole 5. Chick Corea 6. Herbie Hancock 7. Bobby Timmons 8. Mary Lou Williams 9. Cory Henry 10. Art Tatum
Great combination of talent, hard work, and experience. It’s also great that he acknowledged the entire team, each as good as the next. Jazz is a wonderful combination of taking simple elements and combining in new and interesting ways. Even average jazz musicians knew what to expect as a song progressed and how to support each other in producing unique and touching experiences. They’d do this for an audience of one as readily as a packed auditorium.
Hi from Island enchanted Puerto Rico Nat king cole was one of good the good pianist and won down best poll best pianist but Art Tatumm n Oscar Peterson are Monsters in that field

He's only jammin...😂😂
Because he was so talented on the piano. Believe it or not, it was his primary instrument.
@@conejinca He's hitting the good notes though...
There's smooth and there's silky smooth. Then there's Nat.
I just love his piano playing. So effortless, elegant, playful. It saddens me that not more of it is recorded.
Just look up the complete capital recordings of the king Cole trio

The album Cole made with George Shearing is a classic and one of my absolute favorites.

I love the way he doesn't have to look at the piano... He just looks at his audience, it really changes the experience. Love his light touch too.

The goat
Funny to see a quintet on camera with a monster big band sound. Old school backstage “backing track” lol.
His scales are so fluid and effortless at 6:23 it looks and sounds like he’s doing a glissando, but he isn’t.
tasty tinkling ............. yahehezz
I've seen a clip of Cole playing the piano an incredible speed, pre internet. Does anybody know if available on the web??
Singing and comping at the same time. Not easy!
I'm thankful to Haruki Murakami for introducing me to this song
Smoked 40 cigarettes daily to have that unique voice. Died of lung cancer at 40.
Sucks
Actually, Nat died one month short of 46, but I get your point.
T aadoo
They all did. What a different world
