  • Excerpt from Barbara Brown Taylor's Westminster Town Forum talk on the exhaustion and emptiness caused by the modern world placing all value on "productive time" and none on "downtime". She encourages us to use interruptions in our "productivity" as sacred opportunities to see a larger truth.

This is so good. Taylor's words are soothing and she has crafted another beautiful sermon.

She is probably the most "wlth it" speaker i have heard in years. Great personality. Both books, sermons and in person, this is a real person.

I think it's ironic that I'm one of those millennials and I'm watching this sermon on my cell phone in 2020.

I enjoy her books a lot. I find it hard though to stay focused when listening to someone read a sermon or read a "talk". I understand some speakers need notes to stay on track but it feels like every word she says is scripted.

Okay so is it less scripted if it is memorized? Like actors in a movie? Of course, it is scripted. It is a thoughtful talk versus what I hear many extemporaneous speakers do which is talk themselves in circles.

Gloria Williams This isn't a sermon, but a "forum talk" on a prescribed topic. Her sermons are 10-15 minutes and are indeed, amazing.
