I know this is an old video but good review! Foams are a magic art and there are just so many combinations but you covered a few of the good options out there, nice work 👍
Running a trx-4 with defender body in full detail - Heavy, been playing with different tire/foam combinations. You've saved me a pocketful of money and much time with your video - Thank you!!!
Wow, I learned so much with this video! Never realised how much foams contribute to overall performance. Since my TRX4 Bronco is a bit on the heavy side, I'll end up picking up a firm set of crawler innovations foams when I upgrade tires/ wheels. Keep up the excellent job👍
You could create a rig, like an old chassis, that allowed you to strip down everything but the suspension and add weights as desired. Then place it on several different surfaces, hook a spring weight scale onto the side, and progressively pull it until the truck slides say an inch. You can then have a rough estimate of the inch pounds of traction a tire/foam combo provides at a given weight and surface. That way you can see the traction levels based off vehicle weight and terrain while having it be repeatable.
Thanks for doing the video. I going CI soft in front med in back. Now I need to get tires unglued and get ci foams. U got any videos on getting glue off without damaging tire. I seen a hair dryer being used.
yeah I've seen the boil water thing, I suspend mine in a sealed container using acetone, tire is above the fluid and the vapors do all the work, it takes a while so patience is needed.
Got a set via lack of options. (The only foams available one day) Still running them cause I think, think they’re pretty good. Curious how they compare to CI foams. Thanks for a great comparison vid bro!!!
I'll see if I can get a set ordered and get that test on the schedule, I have Hyrax, Deepwoods, and Rockbeast XL available, which would you like to see?
@@ExocagedRC I'm talking foam tests and all the tests with the redcat on the wet and dry ramp. I love the tests because I have a redcat and a capra and the redcat test on the wood ramp is what made me keep the stock tires. Love to see all the same tests with the capra
The foams definitely helped on turning but do the stiffer foams perform as well on climbs, I always assumed run a foam that gives the "aired down" look is best for traction.
That was a good test, again! You've got a pretty fair way of doing side-by-side comparisons. I still don't think the TRX-4 is worth the enormous amount of money they want for it - the Redcat outperformed it at all levels.... What I wouldn't mind seeing, as the TRX-4's only big advantage..... Try the same test, but with the front Diff UNlocked....
yeah I locked them so they would be as equal as possible, unlocked really just spun the inside tires due to lean. On flat ground the unlocked diffs turn way sharper.
Exo, I always come to you buddy you're the best. I have the deep woods myself on my trx4 sport. Which weighs about 7.5-7.8lbs. I am debating on going to the new Jconcept Landmines w/ CI dual stage, or are the deep woods good e nough to just upgrade foams to CI dual stage. I live in Michigan, alot of loose dirt, soft/medium surface rocks? If that's a way to describe it. Some wood as well. I do a lot of incline as well. What's your thoughts buddy, happy weekend.
The Deepwoods are a great tire but can be a bit too rubberbandy and hard to foam right. I haven’t tried the Jconcepts tires. It’s also cold where you are so tire compound matters. You could put new better foams in the Deepwoods and then if you don’t like them, you can use those foams in other tires. I do like the proline Krawlers too.
Exocaged RC I noticed the Krawlers lately have gotten a lot of attention not only from you, but others. I had the KLR/M but just didn’t work for me so I sold them. I am interested in the Krawlers, as well as the TSL
Exocaged RC that’s what I’ve been told, just afraid the rocks will eat up the predators in no time. I have a indoor rock course in my basement, so weather isn’t a huge deal! Luckily
ok, reason i ask is the manufacturer says they improve side hill performance. i think the idea is using them on the outside creates camber so the inside of the tire compresses up, not sure. going to try it
this but with aluminum round stock bolted so its legal for my class, rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fitm%2FYeah-Racing-Stinger-Bumper-w-Winch-Mount-Shackles-For-Axial-SCX10-YA-0454%2F311752294377%3Fepid%3D1040087801%26hash%3Ditem4895e27fe9%3Ag%3AjBsAAOSw9mFWL8Do&campid=5338273090&toolid=20008
Exocaged RC I got deep woods and I’m looking for suitable foams for my trx4, it’s a 10 pounds rig. When using 4.5 foams in deep woods, will there any empty room around the side wall?
Baney Gray I’ve ran them with 4.5 and medium outers and they still didn’t work well on the heavy truck. I have them setup with 4.75/soft and that’s way better. It’s a very soft tire with really soft sidewalls and they will roll on the foams if not firm enough.

I have been looking at these tires and I found this video to be very informative 👍
Very effective test! Super revealing!
thanks for the effort in these tests!
Thank you for watching
Excellent video and really good comparison as always. I was surprised how much of a difference the foams could make.

nice choice there are links in the description and the CI foams are in there.
Great test video 👍🏻 Foams make the difference. Good job man 👌🏻👊🏻

Okay, now I need to see a rock test of the same caliber ;) going up hill and the same exact line, and wheel speed 😈
Yeah that’s hard to do but if I get time to get it done I will.
i guess I am kinda off topic but do anyone know of a good site to stream new series online?
@Billy Karson flixportal xD
@Hayes Abdullah thank you, I went there and it seems to work :D I really appreciate it!!
@Billy Karson Glad I could help xD
Awesome test! And good usable info!
Thanks
Awesome video bro, I'm a fan of the C.I. LilNovas CWR-2022!
Great video I really need to get a new set up for my defender it is so heavy and the factory foam is so soft the tires just fold over at any angle
Nice test fixture

Great info. Would have been nice to see the proline 2 stage foam as well.
yeah I have never tried those, maybe I'll get some and see how they compare to what I have.

Rockbeast XL and Flat Iron XL if you come across a set. Those tires killed it at the last comp I attended.
I'd like to see all these tire tests with the capra.
I’ve done tire tests with the Capra

I use pool noodles for foam inserts instead. Cheap and easy. I would recommend this to very heavy rigs that goes 12lb+
What about armaflex nice dence soft homedepot
The foams definitely helped on turning but do the stiffer foams perform as well on climbs, I always assumed run a foam that gives the "aired down" look is best for traction.
its a case by case basis on how they do on climbs, lots of variables with vehicle weight, weight transfer, terrain etc

..... I should have guessed that!
turn is definitely important but what if the best turning foams make it climb 50% less? need a climbing test changing foams
How did you hinge your Broncos body? I want to do something like that with magnets in front but the lexan is just so thin
It’s not hinged. It’s just Velcro between the bumper and body. Front uses body clips as normal.
Exocaged RC ok, wasn't sure. Thought I saw a hinge in another video. Keep it up man, your videos are very informative and fun 👍
Great comparison test. Like others I have proline 2 stage foams. I might have to look into some these. What bumper are you running on your Trx4?
Nice review👍👍👊👊📹📹

Chris Ennis with the crawlers in the cold go with predator compound. In the heat go with G8.
Exocaged RC that’s what I’ve been told, just afraid the rocks will eat up the predators in no time. I have a indoor rock course in my basement, so weather isn’t a huge deal! Luckily
Chris Ennis awesome you have an indoor course
I saw another deep woods review and he used 4.75 foam. I see you went 4.50.I'm looking to buy these but now confused on what size foam to buy?
Same here but I think I might go 4.5 soft front and medium rear
great mate.
I hope you do this test in the dirt ! See how that works out . they integy's what else can you expect from them..lol . shelf queen foams....lol
Yeah I won’t compete with the Integy foams but I may have a use for them in the Kyosho Mad Bug.
Where you got the wheels? Your redcat looks nice with it. Great video by the way.

duratrax makes great tire but yes foams are a must upgrade for them
Yeah for sure
Where can I get that bumper on the redcat
Do you run your Crawler innovations with vented tires?
nice vid
have you tried the crawler innovations tuning discs? one per wheel on outside
I’ve not tried those. Never really thought I need them.
ok, reason i ask is the manufacturer says they improve side hill performance. i think the idea is using them on the outside creates camber so the inside of the tire compresses up, not sure. going to try it
cool let me know if you notice any real improvements
what front bumper is on front of TRX4?
These videos ☝🏾

Try some A.L.T. or Crazy Crawler lazerfoams.
Deep woods are 4.75 tall tires, isn't 4.75 foam fit better in these tires?
Baney Gray yeah but in some cases I’ve found the 4.5 works better in the 4.75 tires

@@ExocagedRC Thanks man, that helps a lot.
incorrect tire mount, front left tire is installed in wrong way. bad test for that.
