I really enjoyed this episode. Russ, as always, is a class act and a generally nice human. Please check out his RUclips channel here: youtube.com/@R...

Listening to this felt like hanging out with some nerdy buddies.
My plan is working…
We should do a three-way chat some time!
A three-way sounds hot not going to lie
Devil’s threeway 😈👑
The personality Russ portrays is one of the most wholesome i've even seen, alot to learn in general from this guy about state of being, love that he does retro games videos but can help feeling he has so much potential for anything as a personality, I would happily listen to him do podcasts about anything
Agreed
I hope that this video does well! You two are my go-to's when it comes to handhelds and to see your minds come together not once but twice? Come on. That's too good to pass up!
Haha awesome thank you.
Another fantastic interview, you are both awesome, thanks so much for doing this🔥🔥👌🏾
I mentioned this to you on the Tech Dweeb interview, I love the guests you're having on but if you could maybe be a bit more cognizant of the "yeah"s and" "m-hm"s and" OK" noises you're making while the guest is speaking it would sound better over RUclips. It's a bit distracting. One person at a time, let the guest speak and try to hold back on the small injections. But again, damn good show! Subscribed!
I agree
Two of the kindest faces in retro gaming! Thanks to both of you for bringing the great content❤
Ah thanks man. Ya Russ is a class act and it’s an absolute win for the community that he has done so well
@@adinwallsby the way.. I really dug that vintage gameboy hands on review! I personally, would love to see you explore it more. It was and is still, a fantastic handheld, and a fascinating time capsule 👾
Thats exactly what I was thinking too.
Wooo, happy for some more Russ.
Hehe. Aren’t we all 😊
Matt when are we getting our next video?? It's been too long man, I love your stuff.
@@RetroGameCorpsIt’s been way too long, I know! 😢
Life has thrown me some unexpected curveballs but I haven’t given up yet! I don’t have an exact date for the next video but I’m hoping it will be soon.
Thank you for the words of encouragement, I really appreciate it!!
I am a huge fan of Russ' natural calming charisma, I got here via RGC obviously, but I'm happy for Both our sakes I can say I dig the way you communicate too. I look forward to more good times with your channel, subbing for sure. Rp2+ is my current peak, going for an odin2 tomorrow after months of patience for a substantial bonus at work, nervous how recent legal actions will impact what I receive but frankly my nostalgia level cranks highest at gc/ps2/wii anyway so if I can "buy once cry once" and still love the content from these channels just for the passion for gaming, we all win. Cheers!
Hehe awesome man. Ya the Odin 2 is still probably the best retro gaming purchase right now.
RetroGameCorp Russ, AdinWalls and TechDweeb are the big 3 of the retro handheld reveiws. I’m glad to be along for the ride😎
Wow that’s high praise thank you
I love the Retro Game Corps intro and will click on his ViD just to see and hear it lol
Hehe that’s great!
Really good podcast 💖!
Casually says "when I was a cookbook author"... wait what? TO THE GOOGLES
I keep watching Retro Game Corps to see if my ultimate retro handheld is out yet. So far, I'm holding tight to my RG351MP. It has its flaws, but so does every new gadget released. One day I'll settle to THE one. Meanwhile, every now and again I stumble uppon a vide where Russ shows something interesting. A new OS, a new way to organize games, etc. I even bought a game PC and set up Emulation Station for Windows with the help of Russ. So, I'd like to show my appreciation here. He's been the entrance door for so many people in the emulation world.
I think you’re voicing a lot of people’s journeys! Thanks for the comment
@@adinwalls thank you for the reply. I'd like to add that I've just got to know your channel due to this video, so one more point to Russ. I'm going through your videos right now and I'll subscribe. Thank you for supporting the retro gaming community. Rgds from Brazil.
This was really cool to watch/listen to. Kudos!
Hey man. Thanks for checking it out
I thought you looked familiar. Seen a few of your vids. You’re seeing some good growth.
Great video! The Castlevania d-pad test is also very cool (I came up with it as far as I know). If you can play Castlevania without accidentally throwing special items (Up + action button), then it's usually a good d-pad. There's also the 360-degree test: how comfortable / accurate is it to pivot and do a round circle? Shmups are great for that!
Hey thanks for the tip. Which Castlevania specifically?
Castlevania 1 is fine since you throw items with Up + Whip. Any classic Castlevania is ok, except Super Castlevania 4 (which uses the shoulder button to throw items).
@thiagoaraujos cool gonna check this out
Russ is very thoughtful
Yes. The man has depth!
You two are regular content providers for me , great chat lads , all the best
Thank you for checking out the episode!
Great video Adin. I really enjoy watching you content. 👍
Thank you
Nice interview !
Yeah, fame are I come! Always great to hear you guys. Russ keeps scratching me wanting the Odin 2 but I'm still very curious about the RG556, especially if it's kind of wanky :D
lol yes you’re famous now. The 556 is a Thibault kind of device I think. It’s an upgrade from the X28
this is incredible, bc i like u and russ has noticed you as well. keep it up!
Hehe yes it is pretty cool :-)
Really entertaining listening to both of you chatting. Keep it up, Adin!
Thanks Oliver
Russ, I think that I know what the problem could be. You come from the military. They probably trained thinking about yourself right out of you and replaced it with you're part of a team now. It's OK to to put out a video for a milestone because we're on your team now. We're happy for you when something good happens.
That’s such a kind message I’m sure Russ will enjoy that. Thank you.
Thanks, and yeah you're definitely right. We often are taught to downplay our own accomplishments, in favor of honoring those who got you there in the first place. Definitely not a bad way of thinking, it just makes it hard to pat yourself on the back from time to time :)
You guys should have a regular podcast. Very good dynamic
Thanks for that man. I think the takeaway for me from these past few episodes is that I am getting more relaxed in the interviews. Russ has been gracious enough to be on the show which has helped prepare me for other guests that are further ahead of me in subscribers etc. also I’m not sure Russ has the time to be a permanent fixture on the show!
"The Russ and Adin show Part 2" 👍
Or maybe the "Adin and Russ show Part 2" ? 😁
Always nice to listen to you two.
Was suprised you didnt bring up the yuzu/citra thing.. Did you need too, maybe not.
I know Russ made a vid on it but still, would have been interesting to hear you guys talking about it.
Ive mentioned this in your other Russ video but a few other people that would be interesting would maybe be Taki or ETA Prime, doubt those guys would be interested though huh, they seem to do their own thing and stick to themselves.
Other than that a 'fun' one would defo be Wicked Gamer and Collector.
Hope you approach him for an interview, Im sure he'd be interested, any chance of that?
Ah yes I need to reach out to him again. He seemed interested (Wicked Gamer I mean) I just don’t have a direct contact for him. And you point out the flaw in my plan, this was filmed BEFORE the Yuzu drama. I may need to film this I little bit closer to publishing time.
@@adinwalls
I think he'd defo be a fun guy for a chat ☺️
Way cool. Thanks.
🥰 Love it
🥰
Russ is best
Someone should make a custom firmware called Yaa for Yet Another Anbernic.
Ya man. Let’s do it.
Subscribed!! Both of you have helped me through what I call the Hell of setting up the RP4Pro. Thank you, both.
Haha I’m glad you got through the hell of it all!
In all hoensty I really prefer it when reviewers give their own feelings and emotions regarding what they are reviewing than when they try to give an objective evaluation that's useful for everybody else. Try as the might, those faceless CNET reviewers are still really giving their own feelings, and I think that trying to hide it is worse.
For starters, you guys have no idea what *I* want. Hehe. Your watchers are pretty different people at the end of the day and you will enver really be able to predict what they want. But you are very knowledgeable in regards to what YOU want. And if I am watching you it's cause I know the kind of things your opinion will be coming from.
I think that attempting to think you are trying to come up with a review that's useful for others rather than your own feelings is what leads us to us making reviews where we assume that people will like the 36S even though we will simply never play anything on it other than when making the review.
It's even the same for your guides. Each of you focus on different things when making the guides and sometimes things like what Android launcher to use really vary. And I think this is what allows more than one reviewer to exist.
Heck, even things like Adin's difficulty to get a Steam Deck or how all the prices are much worse in South Africa. I live in Bolivia. I have a similar situation. Some devices, good as they might be are simply not viable for me to get. The only way for me to get a Steam Deck would be from Third parties that charge ridiculous prices. Being perfectly honest, I don't consider the Steam Deck to be a real product that exists. Maybe in America and some EU countries, but in real life, it might as well be a Google Pixel phone, something that does not have a real place in my reality. And for the Odin 2 is similar, although at least I can actually purchase it from their store, the customs fees would be insane.
Thanks for this! It’s given me a few things to think about. Especially regarding my specific experience and how that could be helpful.
These are great points, and I don't disagree that reviewers should provide their own perspective. But it's also a slippery slope, with the extreme side being when a reviewer decides that a device is unworthy of anyone's enjoyment because it didn't quite "click" for them. So I personally try to lean more towards finding other use cases beyond just my own, so that my videos can be more relatable!
And that’s the exact point that makes your channel unique and successful!
good listen, will subscribe to you as well, aidin
Thank you!
You guys are awesome! I love emulation and very happy you guys feel the same way
Yeah man let’s do it!
17:00 I love the idea of Russ reviewing retro consoles and handhelds that he's only ever played in emulation and giving his thoughts on how is it better, how is it worse than the alternative.
I definitely think this is an area he’s looking at
i really liked this talk, great stuff :>
Another great interview, fellas! There is a lot to learn here for fellow content creators ❤ - Stubbs
Yup Russ drops some wisdom
We also came up with a future episode called “Trash talking Stubbs” which I think will be interesting to explore.
@@adinwalls 😆
@retrohandhelds 🫂
Corps, not Corp
Hey there where did you see Corp? I will correct it.
@@adinwallsyes, you corrected it 😊
Im definitely in the minority, but I am just not a fan of russ and his takes on many things. I wont say anything inappropriate, but he just comes off smug to me and some of his yuzu takes were not great for me. I do enjoy Adin though.
Hey there I appreciate that we all have an opinion but I would prefer to keep things positive about the guests on my show.
