Game Grumps is a comedy gaming show hosted by Arin Hanson and Dan Avidan. We publish daily episodes on Game Grumps, and weekly episodes on our live channel @TheGrumps!
Game Grumps is a game publisher. It's a touring act. But most importantly, it's a group of people excited about creating literally anything. We're always working on something new and exciting, and we can't wait for you to see what's next.

Bennet Foddy did irreparable damage to the gaming industry
Idk if this is hyperbole, but I legitimately agree. This rage game trend is getting so stupid.
I think Jump king was a big thing with streamers before getting over it. But I have small context about any of those and getting over it is a MASSIVE MONOLITH in gaming media anyway 😅
I think occasional rage games are fine. Its not that influential to effect outside their small reach.
@FlexxibleFree Jump King released 2 years after Getting Over It, after most streamers got over Getting Over It
much as I genuinely enjoyed Getting Over It... I can't disagree
hello! i work at an aquarium and am pleased to share that fish can in fact make sounds!
there's three different ways the do this: using sonic muscles near the swim bladder (drumming sounds), striking skeletal components together like teeth or dorsal spines (grinding/clicking sounds), or by swimming quickly in a specific way (swimming sound heard in schooling fish for example)
I learned something today
thank you for the fish facts!!
what about blub blubs?
Was just about to say something along these lines, Damselfish --which actually farm algae and microcrustaceans-- can be especially vocal; reefs are basically full-to-the-brim with the fluffy little buggers screaming their heads off at everyone and everything nearby like pissed-off New York drivers
Fun fish fact
Not all heroes are fish. Some of them are interested in cash.
They're not. Thank God.
@rudasaeorien What a weird dream this could be
peak reference to one of the weirdest episodes 😂
Like they're stealin my cash ?
Well at least they’re not also stealing my stuff
I can't get over "I'm gonna remember this differently later" that's such a good line
Of course there's citations in the ocean! That's where I throw my parking tickets!
and my car batteries!
@Porky_557 back from whence they came!
@RakastaaKissa if the ocean is writing you parking tickets, seek a mental health professional
@Porky_557Ok, but like how would that solve my parking tickets issue?
@AKA253it's safe and legal
"Arin's drinking pickle juice out of a rum flask." 16:32
What the f**k is he talking about pickle juice being rehydrating just cause it has electrolytes in it? Electrolytes are salt, which do the exact opposite. I think he dehydrated his ADHD brain chugging that juice.
Is it worrying that my only thought was "yeah, that sounds about right"
That is a very Arin thing to do.
Is he having cramps?
That is one of the most Arin things I've ever heard him do.
I want SO BADLY a “Dan and Arin threaten to kill each other” compilation
Wouldn't be surprised if one exists already.
When the world needed them (Smeef) most, they vanished
lol just go and rewatch kirbys dream course
...And themselves!
@DustinHorvath1987 Already do every so often and still _dream_ of the day they return to it.
Arin forgetting the instructions even after he lands in front of each of them
he never read them in the first place lol
Alt title: Arin talks to dan about a watch from 8 months ago
Thank god heroes aren't into cash.
@TheChillennial I'm gonna be honest. I fell asleep for a second there.
Although Peter Parker would disagree
This comment needs more likes
Dan getting tipsy off a few chocolates has the same energy as my tiny asian mother getting drunk off half a cider at the christmas party
i pictured chopper from one piece having a bit too much chocolate milk lol
People are always joking how Arin forgets something he learned or heard within the past minute but Dan almost got away with proving it. I'll personally always remember that dolphins are crustaceans!
This will be important to know, since Arin plays a Dolphin in Gameoverse!
Or that if you baked the sea, you'd get a crustocean
*Citations :-P
You mean cetaceans?
I love that the watch lived rent-free in Arin's brain and Dan is just like "I said that?"
The tree remembers but the axe forgets.
I was listening to this podcast style for a whole minute before I realized the wet sounds weren't from Arin or Dan talking too close to the mic--picking up their mouth noises--it was the fish.
Arin would be pleased to know that fish do make noise. They move air through their swim bladders and it sounds like farts.
Also, freaking love Dan's new whale thing.
Also, i am pretty sure I remember seeing a thing one time that a mic was put under the ocean and could hear fish communicating, yet when boats went over it drowned out the fish so the sound was lost? Dunno if I dreamt that or if it was even true, but I think I saw that once?
Username checks out.
@kierancampire I dunno about that particular incident, but it's well established in uh, fish science that fish do make noises. They don't have vocal chords or anything but they've got muscles that vibrate their swim bladders. Some can stridulate, kinda like crickets
Look up plainfin midshipman for a particularly loud example of fish noise
9:18 you cant tell me they dont sound like an old married couple
@S3phyUSSRremasterd Mom and Dad were fighting pretty hard for the whole start of this episode and I was afraid.
That's because they are
So... first thing: "whale bone" is actually baleen. Old-timey corsets are made out of the mouth bits, not the giant bones. Also, the MAIN purpose of whales is apparently to eat a crapload of stuff and then just drop absolutely MASSIVE dumps to keep the marine ecosystem cycling.
Massive dumps that promote phytoplankton growth, trapping huge amounts of carbon dioxide! Whale poop is vital for not just the marine ecosystem, but for all life because of just how much photosynthesis the poop phytoplankton do.
And also to die and become a whale fall that feeds the deep ocean for years
@chelseahill1293whale fall is such a cool term for basically the freakiest convention the planet can offer. There are SO many things we don't know about (recently they found huge arthropods that prey on small sharks) and they all come out to feast on whale fall 😅
@GreatWightSparkhell yeah! the ocean is such a freak!
@ccggenius YES the baleen are made of keratin, like hair, and are not the actual bones of the whale. They are more like teeth, filtering water to catch plancton. We do not use them anymore to make corsets, now we can either use steel bones or synthetic whale bones A.K.A. plastic. 😊
This whole video I was just thinking about "Thank god fish aren't into cash."
5:15 It's a good thing fish aren't into faeces
Remember when Arin had never drank alcohol up until a few years ago?
I was thinking the same thing. I've been watching their older videos from 2018-2020 era and Arin always said he doesn't drink.
“Far out in the uncharted backwaters of the unfashionable end of the western spiral arm of the Galaxy lies a small unregarded yellow sun. Orbiting this at a distance of roughly ninety-two million miles is an utterly insignificant little blue green planet whose ape-descended life forms are so amazingly primitive that they still think digital watches are a pretty neat idea.”
Would be funny if they said the better alternative. Otherwise it's a joke without a punchline.
9:40 my guess to why Dan said what he said about the watch was because watches in general have been obsolete since we carry a watch in our pocket every day. Watches have been more of a fashion accessory and less about having something to keep time with for a long time. That's my theory as to why Dan blurted that out lol 😂
and when you do see a digital watch, the watch part is secondary to the actual purpose of the device, which may be something like a fitness tracker, or the Apple watch
So what’s your guess about why he’s wearing a watch while this episode was being filmed 🤔
@wereottersyeah I also thought he meant because of smart watches too
I assumed he was making a jab because everyone wears smart watches, not regular digital watches.
This is how a Magikarp feels
Magikarp uses SPLASH!
The bit with the digital watch in the TMP bloopers was so funny I am so happy Arin called that back!
I'm pretty sure Dan was thinking "as opposed to a smart watch in this day and age".
2:28 Just wanted to pop in to say that fish do, in fact, make sounds (as some other people have pointed out) and that sound is very important to life in the ocean. There's a lovely book called Sing Like Fish by Amorina Kingdon that I highly recommend anybody who's interested check out.
"give a man a fih, he a day; teach a man to fih, he a lifetime"
I’m definitely gonna remember this episode because that watch conversation is now one of my favorites
1:13 Accumulating 👈👈
9:53, forgot to blur
Bumping this so they see it
I recently found out that you can't search for profiles by name on steam anymore. Gotta use the code. Got mad trying to add someone i met a few weeks ago.
I'm dumb what exactly needs to be blurred?
@Miss_Kisa94 Friends list on the left side
@agiar2000 Why is that bad? We know they're friends with ross and stuff.
Arin latches onto every pseudo nutritional fad. He’s drinking brine now
There is only ONE fish hero and their name is CODEX!
How many intricate endless climbing games ARE there??
They’re incredibly easy to create
Yes.
Probably slightly more than streamerbait lethal company clones
The moment he left the checkpoint at 10:12 killed me
15:25 it actually depends on region. In England, the past tense of stank, is "stoink", while in North America, the past tense is "count stankula".
20:40 Orcas ARE dolphins, but all dolphins are toothed whales.
Fish Hero is a hero not just because of his good deeds, but because he doesn't care about cash.
He does noble acts for the justice of them, not for monetary gain.
Whale oil was huge in industrial uses. They used it for lubricating machinery among other things. It stayed liquid at very low temperatures and didn’t oxidize at high temperatures so it was the best option available for a while
3:43 "Old English writing" aka... current British English 😅😅
the wet squelch of the fish every time it hits the rock is so gross lol
22:16 the baleen was used for the boning in corsets, not bones. I think the nomenclature there just crossed some wires is all. Idk if corsetry is making a larger comeback, because I got into it for nerdy historical costuming purposes, but anyway. We can use plastic or steel now. I used portions of those giant 24" zip ties for boning when I made my late 1700s style stays, and used a kit from Redthreaded that included a bunch of steel bones for my 1880s corset.
21:00 WOW, Dan. Reading a _coffee table book_ in *2025?*
I am a simple Man, I see fish, I click
Thank God fish accept credit cards
This is such a fever dream of a youtube video. Like the boys are waffling on about some random shit, the visual is of a floppy-ass fish fruitlessly trying to flop its way up a fucking M.C. Escher-type of mountain floating in mid-air and occasionally falling down to which Arin screams his lungs out with the most melancholy-sounding violin music in the background
1:42 hey, Arin better know what a cetacean is, he's going to be playing on in Gameoverse!
dan getting lit on those candies is the cutest thing
🎶I just wanna kiss my fish 🎶
🎶drink my truck🎶
🎶drive my beer🎶
🎶 Wear my grass 🎶
Arins on FAAAAAASH
Arin... You have no right to ask Dan WTF he's talking about given your track record of such
Is it over?
Not til the fish jumps
It's over
theres a seinfeld bit about a coffee table book that turns into a miniature coffee table. its incredible that they came up with the exact same joke with no idea about it
22:11 I mean, corsetry is making a comeback, but we have good enough alternatives nowadays that actual whalebone isn't necessary
Thank goodness this hero isn't paid in cash.
Being deadly serious I need an entire fish hero series
thankgod fish aren't...into...cash
Oh my god the tiny checkpoint right AFTER falling off the mountain is killing me
fish may not have vocal cords, but some species have the capacity to communicate by farting and I think that's beautiful
arin is a fish, confirmed???
Where's Codex when you need them?
Don't get existential on me Codex!
This is genuinely a generational episode
"Insert obligatory fish arent into cash joke here"
“I’m going to remember this differently later” 😂
That part really got me good! 🤣
"Come on, Japan will be fun! You liked Rashomon!"
@bonzaixx1 "That's not how I remember it!"
2:29 Some fish can vibrate their swim bladders to create grunts, knocks and clicks for communication using sonic muscles or by stridulation.
4:12 Cetaceans. Acean is a suffix derived from aceus and an which denotes organism belonging to a specific zoological class or order. Which is why you'll get Crustaceans as well spelled similarly, makes it easier to spell the things if you know the generic rules for taxonomy.
16:58 Electrolytes like that are only useful after a work out, it's no better than water for re-hydration.
22:22 Ambergris is used in perfumes still for starters.
“I’m gonna remember this differently later.” I feel that one.
Arin Hanson: the man who will not only die on any hill, but create new hills to die on everyday, usually from half misremembered conversations from a month ago!
The digital watch conversation is the most Married Couple (or comedy partners/good friends) energy 🤣
"I'm gonna remember this differently later!" got me. 😆
Love how we censored Arin's friends the first time and then afterward they weren't afforded the decency
I had an uncontrollable laughing fit when i first saw the fish flopping around like it was normal
4:34 "Blur out my friends."
Also blur out all the sign-on notifications of all the friends we constantly saw over the the last 10 years worth of Grumps videos as these friends started up Nintendo Switch and Steam games that went unblurred.
I like to think of this channel as "Dan Avidan and his dim-witted friend"
11:11 I'm looking at a 1986 Swatch Jellyfish watch that is currently going for over $200 on eBay rn. 😂 it isnt even mint.
"I'm gonna remember this differently later" as a threat
A climbing game that gives you checkpoints and Arin still manages to restart from the bottom several times 😂🎉
let's not pretend that the checkpoint system in this game isn't extremely terrible
I surely thought when they were saying stink stank stunk Dan woulda referenced the Grinch
I love when they play these strange games and just podcast through it
I love these kinds of episodes where they talk about any and everything while the gameplay is still hilarious
The hero of fish is here
That watch story is definitively one of the best.
Arin's side of the watch conversation is such a neurodivergent experience. Just like "I'm not mad I genuinely just want to understand what, if any, social faux pas I committed just now; what do you mean?!" And then your confusion confuses the other person so much it becomes a whole thing.
I'm just as curious as he is at what Dan meant, tbh
@Spacecore0 my guess....
at this point in time, wearing a watch is usually more about fashion than it is about actually using it as a time telling device, and honestly it's been like that for probably at least 10-15 years. As such more often when you see someone wear a watch it's going to be an analogue watch because that's more aesthetically pleasing to look at and offers more options for ornamentation than does a digital one
Conversely when you do see a digital watch it's more often a smart watch like an Apple watch or a fitbit, something that's primarily there to do something other than tell you the time
A digital watch that's just a watch is an oddity
@wereottersOn the other hand, digital watches are a big thing among collectors of retro items. Arin is definitely a retro collector, so in my eyes him wearing a digital watch would be more normal than wearing analog
pretty sure that's normal.
@wereotters I'll never understand people who think analog watches are more pleasing to look at. You can't even read them with ease. Unless you're one of those freaks that can like, read music, so you see gaps accurately instead of just seeing gaps....
I have my phone on my wrist but I wear a 25 year old cool digital watch on my other'n. along with another phone holder, sans phone, on account of the phone holding part broke but it's still a cool wristband.
PRESS F TO PLACE CHECKPOINT!
The fish squish sound bite makes it sound like Arin is constantly wetting his lips
I think whale oil is still used in some space stuff
the way Danny says 'fæces' might be my new "censored swear"...like when i stub my toe, "OWW FFFFFæces"...as in, replacing 'Fiddle-dee Dee'...
"what's a bowhead whale explain" the to-the-pointness is SO funny
I can’t believe they spontaneously came up with the “coffee table book of coffee tables” joke from seinfeld
A real fish hero doesn't do it for the cash.
Dan getting a buzz from alcohol infused chocolates is the funniest/cutest dang thing I've ever heard. XD
"Can a human breath Underwater?"
21:01 I love hearing about what Dan’s been reading, like I’m not sure he brings it up often but when he does it’s a treat
I could listen to Dan wax Marine Biology all day!
PS: For my own benefit, I’m going to search Beautiful Whale by Bryant Austin. Thanks again, Dan!
🐋 🐋 🐋 🐋
15:28 In middle school I remember my friends and I having a good laugh about “dangling participles” 😅
0:03 ahhh yes, a LLM with a misaligned decoder. Very nice.
The fact that you guys are doing this all these years later and you come straight out the gate with non stop fire. Not a single moment to skip. Truly all killer.
3:00 those are called phonic lips, or as my professor (who's worked with marine mammals for over 50 years) called them, Monkey lips! Even though... they're.. in a... whale.
Scientists are weird.
They make the clicks and trills by tightening the lips and pushing air up and down past the lips and focusing it through their melon, with the fats of the melon acting as a sonic lens to focus and narrow the sound.
It's cool stuff.
Also the sperm whale's melon is called the junk. Because whalers couldn't get whale oil out of it. so it was junk to them. and the name stuck.
Whalers are weird too.
oh my god they hashed out the digital watch bit, this was so cathartic
We got a sleepy grumps and a 10 minite power nap in the same day! Awesome!
Pickle juice after a night out is actually so refreshing
24:32 all I can think of is that Sam the Matzo Man song
Ugh you guys help me through every breakup I endure. It’s so nice to laugh thank you
"Hopefully you left that checkpoint..........there it is."
