A mechanical version of how our large intestines work! :) I often wondered what walking floor trailers were - examples seen on the road are Jenkinsons forest products and Fred Sherwood. No doubt many other companies too. Scrap metal, Tyres, anything loose, quickly loaded and unloaded! I do remember the potato bulkers that have a conveyor belt in the bottom of a vee shape floor driven by a mains motor that you had to plug in. Thank you for sharing.
Haha yeah literally 🤣
😂😂😂 i was thinking the samevwhen it was slowly coming out.. 😅
🤣🤣
Thanks mate that was really helpful. All your videos are interesting and informative.
Is there any topics that you would like to hear or see?
Nice one mate, always wondered how these work, that was a really good insight
You're welcome mate glad it helped!
Thats pretty awesome, never knew about this.
Glad you enjoyed it mate!
Thanks Sam, be minded that the vast majority of Brits end up coming back from Oz. I'd go for an extended holiday first and see if you fancy it. It's a long way from your family and friends.
Yeah, i will see mate if you don't give it a go you wont know
Always wondered how they work and what's its like to operate. Useful video.
I was in Ilkeston the other day had to take a 4axle low loader to Manners Ind Est where you were, that hill is a brute. I stopped at the lights and my DAF is a manual, took some getting off the mark 😂. Then brought another 3axle low loader out of there and took it too Matlock 🙄
Yeah i remember driving a manual up hills like that, it was never fun lol
Another great video Sam, Great insight how they work
Cheers mate appreciate it 👍
Thanks Sam good to see and learn something different
Cheers mate appreciate it 👍
Can't you set cruise control for the PTO? That's what I always did on walking floors. Edit: should've watched the whole video before commenting! 😂
Thump, thump, thump... THUMP!
Hahaha
Very educational. I'd seen walking floors tipping on the landfill when I used to drive the site tractor there but never knew how they worked. I wouldn't mind a go at that as it'd be something new and more experience. And yeah watch the doors when opening, the landfill was crazy about safety and mentioned numerous cases of incidents where loads were pushing against doors when opening. But then if it's loose the load is going to shift so I'd expect on training to be told to be prepared for it.
Yeah it's definitely different from containers mate, however wouldn't want to do it all tge time ha
Another great video mate
Cheers dude 👍
The walking floor is like a peristaltic wave, if you will.
Haha exactly 🤣
M25 yep a joke alright - the amount of traffic on these roads is phenomenal, it only takes one breakdown, crash, (I don't like calling them accidents) to cause literally hundreds if not thousands of vehicles to come to a standstill. I was coming back on the A14 today eastbound not far past the welford turn - An artic(didn't notice and remember the brand) and trailer parked on, obviously broken down on the westbound carriageway - in lane 2. The tailback was back to near enough rothwell! All I do remember was saying "You can't park there, mate!" to myself lol.
Hahahaha yeah mate, i try not to let it get to me most of the time but this day it was just relentless.
I subscribed 👍
Thank you mate i appreciate the support! ❤️
Total respect.Did you learn walking floors from Stobarts ?.An would love to have seen how that sliding roof works. An having had wood on do you have to sweep out back before loading.Just observation your boss must be scratching for work, Young's out of Purfleet gone belly up.An they owned their own yard.Strange times for Haulage
No i used to do walking floors at Hanson, the roof is literally a sheet that just rolls over with a switch mate.
Does it not have a physical strap that has to be fastened after closing and released before opening?
Why have you changed jobs
Just doing some holiday cover mate still at the same company 👍
