Oooooh thank you RUclips for the very superfluous infobox what the WHO says about COVID-19 ... despite no longer being relevant in these past years. Great video as always David! You're my only way to get an insider perspective on the real Chinese news
When I first saw ads for Temu items I thought they looked interesting/cute and prices so cheap but there is no way I would buy anything from them. I do not want to give my financial and other information to that country. I need a new computer soon and I will buy one made in the US. I just bought a laptop cooler/fan off of Amazon. I try hard not to buy things made in China but this didn't list country of origin. However, it was on the box it arrived in, made in China. Since I already had it, I tried it. It wasn't the cheaper model but only worked for a week and I had to return it. I got burned on canning jars too. I had stuff I needed to can that day so went to the store and all the Kerr and Ball jars were out of stock. I picked up some of the only ones left (don't remember brand). When I went to can, all the lids on the jars were already fuzed to the jar so had to be removed... they popped when I did so... and I had to put new lids on. When I looked at the box... you guessed it, made in China.
Sadly, your new computer or laptop will probably be made in China too, or have components made there, but at least it will have been made to the parent company’s higher standards. The factory that made it, though, probably ships crappy knockoffs out the side door after hours for sale on sites like Temu. How anyone could fall for the junk on there is beyond me. And when you hear about the poisonous chemicals and materials that are being added to SO MUCH China-made junk to cut down on costs, and which are being shipped into other countries where they don’t conform to safety standards, it’s just staggering how rotten things have become over there, to the point where, long term, they’re actually inflicting HARM on not only their own people, but the rest of the world, too.
One factor not often spoken about in what makes Chinese goods so cheap is the subsiding of shipping. If Chinese products were no longer shipped for "free" at the cost of the American taxpayers via the postal service, they could not compete domestically in the US, especially when you factor in the complete lack of quality assurance.
