Love this film to death. Such a classic. My favorite performance of Rutger Hauer's. Such a great psychopath. R.I.P. C. Thomas Howell is also great as well. F**K the remake.
Always loved this film. One of Chris Nolan’s favorite films, and he clearly borrowed from Hauer’s Hitcher character for his conception of the Joker in The Dark Knight.
Jennifer Jason Leigh is a gem of a talent!! Her performance in The Hateful Eight(my favorite sam Jackson performance)is such eye candy :-) the funny thing about the hitcher is,it's not a story but a situation that unfolds! It's what makes this thriller work& such Hitchcock tension but for that time. Your typical pick up that goes wrong.
Still love this movie and it's great you've got the Blu-ray for Germany! We still need one in North America already and amazing review as a tribute to Rutger Hauer.
Matt just want to mention I appreciate you putting the year of the film in the title of your reviews... it’s something small and I know you’ve always done that but I really like that you do that...
GREAT review. I hope you can do a review of "Wedlock" (1991) , It's one of my favorite Rutger Hauer movies of all time I still watch It a few times a year.
Definitely one of the best films of all time. I cant believe Ebert & Siskel gave it zero stars...really? That kind of rating is something you would give an Uwe Boll movie or something like Shark Exorcist. Some people thought it was a boring movie and so violent...I don't get it, maybe they saw the remake. I'm sure a day will come where some idiot will go, "Hey lets make a prequel to the Hitcher, yeah, cause we really need to know why he became the Hitcher"........
11:28 True and strange enough this film does take place in texas bro. Wonderful job on talking an epic fucking classic indeed I will be picking this up soon.
Matt I think RUclips took down their private messaging function. I want to give you my digital code of Alita Battle Angel, if you want it. I never use these codes and hate wasting them.
Would you be interested in reviewing Flesh + Blood, that also starred Rutger and JJL from a year earlier. I have a blu-ray copy that I would be glad to donate to your channel.

One of my top ten favorite films and I never get tired of seeing it.
A classic I enjoyed since I saw it on hbo in 87 with my family at age five

They were FOS sometimes. Ebert gave Die Hard and The Thing 2/4.
Speed 2, thumbs up....are you kidding me?

The Hitcher is a great movie (the original one, not the 2007 abomination).
Based on your explanation, 'Hitcher' appears to be thought-provoking.

Thank you but I have no interest in seeing that. Thank you for the offer though.
