I'll be honest, I hated the drunken scenes at first. But as the characters grew on me, I started to like McNulty and Bunks' drunken monologues. Throughout the entire season 4 I was like WHERE THE FUCK IS JIMMY!??? So is this a prequel scene from the DVD's?
@J Jackson Then you don't understand police culture at all. One of the hallmarks of their personalities, and this goes for all law enforcement is a lot of them are compulsive alcoholics. Years of being on the front lines of dealing with the United States lowest common denominator on daily basis and suddenly becomes a coping mechanism for all the death, violence, and broken relationships that is a recurring theme in all departments. David Simon, as a former police reporter would tail with police and detectives constantly to better understand their culture, and this is why he always had Jimmy and Bunk constantly drunk is because that was the REALITY of their world. It's tough and stressful all the time, there's no sugar coating it or romanticizing either way. And another thing, as @Kay_Weapons so bluntly put it, you're questioning the alcohol when in fact it was also a huge narrative to The Wire, but not the drugs? Mi amigo, your vague understanding of character development and story line needs some brushing up.
Where can I find more of these clips? I've watched the entire series six times over and I've never come across this scene. There's gotta be more I'm missing.
that face Bunk gives at 2:02 like.."nigga you don't know.. sheeeeit..Betta ASK somebody and out some RESPECK on my name when you talk about MY drinking capabilities "..lol..I love the Wire..the G.O.A.T...
I wonder if the bit he mentions about solving the old crime with the bracelets, I didn't quite catch it, was what gave him the idea for the bracelets in Season 5...
The reason they loved McNulty and respected him was because he WAS natural poe-leese.
Natural alcoho-eesm.
Loved is a strong term I think you mean “didn’t fire him despite his flaunting of the rules”
The Wire has a knack for showing the most accurate drunk people in TV history.
Stone cold brilliant! Makes me want to watch The Wire from start to finish (for a third time). HBO had some great shows “back in the day “
Bunk's face had me 'They had us the first half, I'm not gonna lie.'
LMFAO
Comment of the year!
Man, these chips reminds me just how damn superb this show was. 👍
One of the best of all time.
The way Bunk reacted at first makes me wonder if Jimmy's the reason he picked up the habit of drinking all the time
I love that they clearly filmed these "prequels" well after they'd been filming the main seasons.
What where they filmed for?
@@thecappeningchannel515 I believe they are on the dvd box set of the entire series
Rawls never forgot his name after that.
Rawls and Bunk look the same but McNulty looks about 30 years older than he did in season 1.
Black don't crack
Rawls is big into protein skin therapy. That's why he looks the same.
@@slimj091 😂I see what you did there
It looks like the makeup department took a holiday early when the show wrapped and the actors had to stay behind, lol
Don't drink.
On the midnight shift..I’m rarely sober..What a line!!!
1 dislike........Rawls?
McNulty came in liquored up. Great acting by Dom West
I thought McNulty had known each other for longer than that?
This is a flashback that they cut. It became a DVD extra
Yeah they should have changed that to 1998 or something.
Hilarious, it's hard to drink an Irishman under the table or even hang.
Bunk earned my respect.
That is how you break in a partner.
#Stereotypes
McNulty's stupid haircuts always annoyed me.

@J Jackson lol we watching people sell dope and fiends in every episode but drinking is your gripe???

@@iamski nah I he early scenes with them drunk would bring the show to a crawl sometimes I think that's his gripe
HBO
@@MaoMoney The show's already a crawl half the time
Lt Rawls. Interesting.
What's Escape and Apprehension?
actively investigating and apprehending fugitives

there's one with prop joe and one with omar as kids but I think it's just these 3
2:11 - Is it me or are they a little too eager to come into work?
You know the feeling where you hate going to work but mutually shared suffering lessens the effect
McNulty looks like Kramer here

This is the whitest comment I've ever read.
I wonder if the bit he mentions about solving the old crime with the bracelets, I didn't quite catch it, was what gave him the idea for the bracelets in Season 5...
"Bracelets" is slang for handcuffs. Mcnulty was saying the detective had arrested the wrong guy.
So the same cops that abuse alcohol on duty will go out and bust someone for pot?
Tbf neither Bulk or McNulty are into busting people for petty crimes like drug use, there's bigger things on their mind all the time
That's The Wire, bud. This is what it's like in real life.
Welcome to your dose of reality.
These two are murder police, your little dime bag is of no concern to them.
Alcohol is legal mostly everywhere as weed wasn’t and still isn’t in some places
I gave em the caller. Yeah me lmfao! Apparently it was nada so i thought I'd drink a little....oh wait...standby
Mannerisms
Conflict offers a lot of potential. That was my main take away from this show.
Anybody misses the beWtween spelling?
When was this flashback? I don't remember any flashbacks in The Wire.
I think they were extra's on the DVD box set
Bro they got a omar flashback and prop joe you should youtube them
Wass Chent the prop joe one is awful! Omar’s is decent
@@totalba69 prop joe is clearly Asian and the kid actor was clearly not.
@@totalba69 Nah, the prop joe one was pretty good it shows he was wheeling and dealing from day one and why he was so successful for so long

Too birds of a feather
why did you censor this???
eL graPa seriously wtf
I don't think he did, it looks like a clip from a HBO promo so it was most likely screen in previews or something where they couldn't have swearing
Did mcnulty really say negro please?
It sounded like he said "amigo please".
@@smokescreen69 That's what I heard too.
As funny as this scene is, i can see why it got cut. Its kinda dumb.
I don't think it got cut. These are bonus footage from the DVDs, they are supposed to tell the background story as single shots.
Lol nothing is dumb on the wire it’s all connected to a bigger picture
