@@gregstewart7288 Not at any time has there ever been authority given to marry more than one woman at once. Plural marriage was the marriage of A man to A woman. This took place multiple times to multiple wives to ensure the founding principle of "between A man and A woman" was not violated. Plural marriage has ALWAYS been of God. If you doubt this and feel it's a wicked practice then you will need to condemn some of the most notable names in Scripture. Jacob had 3 wives. Abraham had 2 wives. Note that each wife was married to the man at a separate time, not at the same time. Plural marriage is of God. It's not practiced at this time because it violates the law of the land and is not currently essential to the plan of salvation. Even when it was authorized, it was never required and was voluntary by those who would benefit by it.
@@djlarkin76 Okay, I see you’re doing a lot of defensive rationalizing. As long as a man marries one woman at a time, it’s okay have a lot of wives. And, many OT prophets had multiple wives, which is true. They also had concubines, which I guess god was okay with, too. Yet, adultery carried a death sentence. Wow! In those days, a woman was treated more like property than people. I have a problem with that in any age, but I guess god has different values. Now, you say polygamy is allowed by god but not required? According to J. S. He claimed he was not only commanded to marry more women, but threatened with death by a sword wielding angel if he didn’t! Following that, he continued marrying somewhere around 32 women, some already married, some very young…as young as 14. He even sent a couple of his apostles on missions so he could marry their wives behind their backs. He didn’t even follow the very “rules” of polygamy he claimed to have received from god. I’m sorry, but, this is just one of the many, many problems I have with the LDS church. My history as a former member goes back to the early 70s and I’ve experienced and learned things that make me ashamed to have ever been associated with the cult.

This fact alone is a substantial reason why we are a "peculiar people" and why those who are "of the world" despise us. We refuse to bend our principles to the pressures of social media, news, politics, other faiths, bigotry, war or even kings, principalities or Governments.

Of course the Doctrines of the Church have never changed. Polygamy was never instituted by the Church, that is a lie of the heathen. Lies are the truth of this "Peculiar people". Everyone on this Earth are "of this world". Even those deluded and living the blatant lie that they are not "of this world".

D&C 132 comes to mind, the new and everlasting covenant of marriage, particularly plural marriage.

Okay, I see you’re doing a lot of defensive rationalizing.
Why do people leave, because these holy men gaslight and lie. I am so done with holy and holy books and magical messiahs.
Thats all u really care about money
Where’s the proof? You sound like a democrat. Most of the leaders live very modest lives in houses they pay for out of their non-church incomes or retirement.
Ah. The username says it all. Calvinist. I can only assume you mean the 10% tithe. We give out of gratitude not requirement. When was the last time you gave freely because you felt charitable and not because you were required to? If it wasn't within the last month, I would check your motives instead of leveling accusations at those who give charity. Consider the hole in your logic...if all we care about is money, why do we give so much of it away?
