- A group of American teens are on a month-long educational journey here in Aotearoa. The delegation is on Waiheke Island, gaining first-hand lessons about Māori and indigenous cultures. And as Whatitiri Te Wake reports, the teenagers are planning to use their new-found knowledge to help inform their futures.
what the Americans need to do when they go back home is join the frontlines and fight for Indigenous Americans, Alaskans and Hawaiians to preserve their culture, get reparations and land rights back.
I am talking about those "Woke" Americans.

These Americans please don’t rub the word racist into nz leave it back in your country there is racist in nz but the Maoris prefer to chill that word out of there way n just get on with life .
And what similar oppressions would that be?.
@norton wayne Thanks dickhead.
@norton wayne actually it was excellent question. and the answer wasnt smart at all. please tell us what oppression you apparently think is so obvious.
Loss of land, language, aspects of culture, misrepresentation within the wider community, racism (and police brutality/bias, while it is worse in the us it’s definitely still prevalent in New Zealand too). Struggles could be poverty, violence and gangs, substance issues, as well as more universal issues such as mental health and suicide.
Only naming a few
@@erinaleigh1946 Thanks Erina,a sensible and concise reply,much appreciated.
@@erinaleigh1946 new zealand is one of the weallthiest countries in the world, with one of the best social safety nets in the world too. Everyone has access to a first class education, to free health care and a pension. We are taught the global language from birth and the maori language is beginning to flourish again. there is freedom of speech, of thought and there is rule of law. As New Zealanders we are some of the most privileged people in the world. Most moari are doing fabulously well and are leading lives that most people in the world could only ever dream of. some havent made the most of their opportunities for various reasons, but frankly new zealanders are bending over backwards to try and help them (and new zelaanders of other races that are struggling).
As a country we are doing great - of course we can do better but this constant oppressor / oppressed narrative is doing more harm than good.
