This was great, completely fixed the starting issue. Now the check engine light is on, so now I have to trace down that problem. My car would always start fine when it was cold in the morning, but through out the day it needed 5-6 cranks before it would fire up, now it starts fine. Thank you much.
Thanks bro. Word of caution though if your chevy has been starting this way for awhile like mine, the fuel pressure can build up and spray everywhere when you remove the regulator. WIsh I had fixed this sooner. The repair worked like a charm. Fixed my hard start condition. I got the Delphi part off amazon and very easy to replace.
I'm pretty sure this is my hard cold starting problem. Thanks...... Hopefully my 2001 will actually see 100k miles someday. Yep it's only on ,70 k now. But starting to b a handful.
My truck just died in the middle of atlanta on a busy intersection. It just. stopped. running. now it will turn but won't fire. battery is good, belts are good. Just had the power-steering and air compressor replaced, maybe something happened there? No fuel in the FPR, so that should be good. What does it sound like? I should have been a mechanic!
How old is the fuel pump? Leave the key on in the run position and listen for the pump, it should run for a few seconds to prime the engine, if you don't hear anything wither rent a pressure tester from a parts store or use a knife to push the valve on the fuel rail, if nothing comes out its probably the fuel pump...... but I have heard of very clogged fuel filters causing similar issues. Not very hard to change yourself but fairly time consuming
What about the O-ring you took out? You didn’t put it back in that I could see and you have a circle clip there that came in the package what are you doing with that?

My 02 escalade wont stay on and when i accelarate u here like bubbles not ticking when the pistons slap but like almost air inside motor then it shuts off any ideas
what was the reason for changing it? On my '01 sierra 5.3L, when i go to start it, the motor will turn over for 2-3 seconds then fire, sometime i have to re-try and then it will start.
same reason here. initially, it would turn over a few times but not start. after turning it on for a second or two, it would fire. sometimes it took a couple tries.
The reason for changing a fuel regulator is the vehicle is hard to start. A good way to tell is fuel in the vacuum line going from the fuel regulator to the engine.
There is a service port with a cap opposite side. Unscrew the cap (looks like a tire valve cap). Engine off and cold. Depress the valve with a screwdriver to release the fuel pressure. You're welcome

I have a question regarding thios because I have the 2004 4.8 Liter Chevy Tahoe. I am getting the fuel smell with the vehicle running. My issue is the 20094 and later don't have a regulator by the fuel rail. I thought it was my vehicle so I checked my Haynes manual and it said with 2004 and later to drop the fuel tank. Is there a regulator in the fuel tank or do I measure the pressure at the rail on the Schrader valve on the passenger side and if jumpy or high or low do I replace the furl pump? Do I need to check the injectors, check electrical for the injectors or what's the procedure? I'd like to get this fixed as I'm worried that unburned fuel could be dumping into the engine and possibly be causing further engine damage or am I fine in that area? ANy help would be greatly appreciated as we have snow coming and this is our 4wd dad taxi for the kids and wife in snowy weather. Thanks!
+Dale N Hi Dale. Sorry I can't be of much help here as I don't much on that year/model. But I've read that the FPR is located in the fuel sender/pump assembly, in the tank and not on the rail (for 4.8 Tahoes of that year). You'll need to do some searching online or take it to a mechanic. Good luck.
We replaced the pump a few weeks ago. The metal line that the plastic hooks to coming out of the fuel tank was rusted thru. A word of advice to those who may have to drop the tank living in salt belt northern half of U.S. make sure local dealer has fuel tank straps on hand just in case you need on. The bolts were just spinning when trying to remove strap due to u clips breaking at both straps. We were able to get a wrench in the frame rail just over the bolt mount to the u clip but the front strap had to be cut where it attaches on the inside near driveshaft. Keep in mind flame sources are not suitable if the fuel pump has a leak coming out of the top pressure line coming out of the tank which seemed like a galvanized metal or similar. Salt and crud gets up there while driving salt roads and no matter the time of year it just eats away at the metal fuel supply line. We used a pneumatic air saw with a metal blade so it didn't create a spark. Had I did this in my garage it would've taken considerable more time. I have a friend who works in a semi truck dealership shop so we did it on a Sat morning when he was off work. Having all the extra shop tools came in really handy. Instead of pressure washing the gas tank out on the inside and having to dry it all we used a siphon to remove any old fuel and debris that may have went in there. It took about 40 min to put a new pump in and reinstall the tank once we had initially got it removed. Runs like a champ now once again.
Ik this video is from along time ago but I happen to run into a problem in my 06 chevy 5.3 It makes a chirping noise when stepping on the gas and it doesn't accelerate like it used to my fuel pressure reads at 80psi the max I went to autozone they said som to do w the fuel ratio thats when i googled it and it showed it might me this regulator it said it could cause misfires in engine and poor acceleration You think this could be my issue also w the chirping noise?? Bc it's not def not a belt been trying to figure it out for abt 3 weeks nowwww hahahaha

my suburban tested out at 55psi .. i took of fpr hose and turned key to prime system and no gas came out.. so now i am really confused .. it wont stay running for more then half a second unless u spray starting fluid into intake
What happens if I got 80 psi of pressure coming in through the fuel line but I can't seem to get any fuel coming out through the Schrader valve on the fuel rail?
should the vacuum line be dry or wet ? I have an 2001 Chevy Tahoe 5.3 and it shut off in the middle of the road and I checked the fuel pressure regulator and the vacuum line is dry I'm not sure if it should be or not
I have an 02 tahoes. it takes around 3-5 seconds to start and getting very bad gas mileage. I did have fuel in the vacuum line so would that mean that is my problem?
+Keenan Kaufman I would say it's a strong possibility. You may want to replace the FPR and see if that resolves your issue as it's a relatively inexpensive procedure.
I have an 06 yukon 5.3 when i turn it on 10 seconds go by and then it starts to rough idle with a little bit of black smoke from the exhaust after i drive it for 10-15 minutes it goes back to normal can it be the pressure regulator
my truck starts fine when its warm out but when it gets below 15 degrees it wont start ..it cranks over fine but wont start...new fuel pump still the same issue ..any thoughts?
