I feel like this definitely existed before social media but social media itself has only lended to the want for the perfect trip
I totally agree! The pressure to have a perfect time + excessive activity and drinking can be a recipe for disaster.
Your advice towards the end is solid. It also made me reflect on how when I was in my early 20s I went on a two-month backpacking trip with someone I barely knew. I just posted a Facebook status “I want to go to europe who wants to come” and now that sounds like such unhinged behavior.
Luckily I ended up becoming close friends with the person who went with me and we became roommates! We do not live together (or in the same city) anymore but we still are friends and it’s always a blast when we see each other.

speaking of the vegetarian thing. my parents are both vegan and i went on a trip with my online friend who likes meat a lot. and my parents took us to like, at least two different all vegan restaurants. like, where all the menu items say "shrimp" or "chicken" but obviously it's not really chicken it's fake because it's an all vegan restaurant. and i was like oh man, i really hope she doesn't hate this, she probably hates this. and then i heard the most jaw dropping sentence of my life: "i think i like this more than real chicken."
I love your episodes. I do miss the skits though 💖.

I feel so validated by the complainer conversation! For YEARS I told myself I was just being sensitive. I thought this was a problem only I had but it’s so nice to know other people feel the same. I have tried so hard to ignore that energy but it bogs me down and ruins my whole day.
Omg Sarah’s point about being “A MAN” is something I was just thinking about with some of my friends
I taught in Thailand for a year with this program and went on a vacation to a coastal town with an acquaintance I had met in the orientation, and I ended up leaving with a police report for a "missing person" (she had snuck off to sleep with the tourist police officer that helped us out) So uh, yeah, definitely KNOW who you are vacationing with ~~
Continuing on the mocktail conversation, CBD drinks are a nice change

My sister and I have been trying to work on our dad complaining about everything everywhere all at once. Got to the theater to early now we have to watch ads. Oh the movie is dubbed not subtitled. Let me comment on everything that I didn't enjoy. Why don't you want to hang out this weekend?

My Miami trip was to Hawaii... I thought I was friends with these 2 girls(over a year of friendship), planned a trip to Hawaii, and they pretty much completely changed.. they've been to Hawaii before, my first time.. they asked if I had any suggestions, and then when I gave them some, they were shot down.. it was Pride that weekend in Waikiki, so I suggested going there, and they were like uhhh noooo... and then they even tried to pawn me off to go with some guy who I DONT KNOW!!! Granted he wasn't a creep, but he has a wife, I have a husband, and I went to Hawaii to have fun with my "friends," not a random guy😅
huge misunderstanding with my best friends during my miami birthday trip three years ago and one of them flipped a table in a resteraunt and we haven’t talked since😂
My advice, dont vacation in Miami, it is gonna be humid, hot, and crowded. There are WAY more fun places to go.

Sarah I need to you teach a masterclass on relationships with people. The concept of someone wanting to make plans immediately after meeting you being love bombing is something I've never thought of, but now that I reflect back on times that's happened to me IT ALL MAKES SENSE NOW. My (British) first Christmas/new years with my boyfriend’s (Spanish) family was insane, in the best way but wow. The Spanish take Christmas and Epiphany (Los Reyes Magos) seriously. At midnight I had to shove grapes in my mouth with the songs of the clock and I was like 😶 so weird but interesting
Sarah is me, but mine is Kiwis. I grew up thinking they made everyone's mouth numb and ichy. My tongue also swells and bleeds a bit. As an adult, I had a friend tell me that is not normal. Found out I am alergic but damn I love Kiwis. 😂 I don't eat them often in case I die, but I will treat myself to one every so often.
i get so embarassed/stressed when i go to open uber and its on the cloud >~< like please i have it on my phone i just havent used it in a long time and i have limited storage lol
