I didn't expect he would be this nice and full-spirited. Since he looks so serious in every live performances, I thought Sawano-san is a calm person.
I think that's because he fully concentrated on performing on the stage
i thought he was super serious, but I'm glad to find out he's lively, and laughs like people you know

@@ayoubzahyo Not really. I personally don't know any other artists that are able to replicate his style, and I'm talking real artists not lowlife cover youtubers who use other people's compositions for monetary gain.
I know each time he releases new music what to expect, the structure of it, and how many types of tracks (vocal works, orchestral, modv, etc.), yet I am still in awe when listening to it, how he manages to stay on his own formula for so long, yet bring new feelings into each song every time.
@@wanderingpretender there’s an argument that could be had that Hiroyuki Sawano is akin to Hans Zimmer’s style but adopted for Japanese anime, with a very techno/digital sound heavy orientated music.
It’s sad that for Hathaway he had to suppress his style a bit to change for more Hollywoodish-less-melody music. Personally I say that was his strongest point in unicorn gundam’s OST. It was a great blend of classical style but also well utilised of digital music. With that style he could win an Oscar music award, had gundam unicorn be a featured film.
@@Bloodark124 I think Hans Zimmer is the role model for almost any film/anime music so you're probably right but Sawano is the one who brought it to anime and perfected it for every type of emotion the series needs
@@revanatictheplayer5120 Ha no. Hanz Zimmer is big in any countries that have strong western influence. Anywhere else he isn't big at all, because his style doesn't suit the regional taste/requirement.
Hollywood love to pretend they represent the whole world, and with Hanz Zimmer doing most of their biggest works and thus claiming Hanz Zimmer is top composer of our time - no way. He is good for what he does. But in no way is he role model for literally everyone. Ask him to write music for a shounen jump anime in his own style and it would fall real flat on its face.
In fact, Hanz Zimmer is known for collaborating with others to write music, and then proceed to slap his sole name on it. He didn't write theme tune of pirates of the caribbean. The theme song of Black Hawk Down was a big collaboration with Liza Gerrard. The list goes on. He's gone very experimental with sound and have pioneered the idea of soundtrack to take a backseat in Hollywood movies. And it works fine there. But elsewhere in other kind of films it won't work. It'll be too atmospheric, lack of energy and lack of emotional dimensions.
His work often can't be really a measure for his ability these days, consider that he does collaboration so much that you don't know where his impact begins and ends in terms of composition and sound design. Most other composers in the world still work on their own and create their own sound.

Sawano's score for Gundam Hathaway is definitely one of my favorites from him. Möbius, XI, EARth, Tracer, etc. So many great tracks, and they set the mood for Hathaway's story perfectly.
Especially the second half of Penelope, that scene was just *chef's kiss*

His music gave more life and emotion to Gundam and 86. I wish Netflix will also stream 86 so more people will be able to watch such masterpiece.
I wish so too, but I'm pretty sure Crunchyroll has exclusive streaming rights to 86. This wouldn't be a problem for me if they weren't doing a shit job of marketing it (seriously, they release clips from episodes weeks if not months after they air and their post time is sporadic instead of weekly like other shows).

Remember that insert song(Perfect time) during the last ep of Season1 where Melodias goes to a 1v1 match against Hendrickson and the ost when Escanor and Testarossa taunting each other, the music made it even more badass
never mention AoT to sawano fans.
We know is good, but people makes like is the only ost that has done.

When you listen to them in sequence, Sawano's score for "Hathaway" feels like a natural evolution and continuation from his scores for "UC" and "NT" combined. It's amazing!
This guy is a legend I especially enjoy the Ost and music he did for Re-Creators.
Re Creators was Peak Sawano
Another such underrated OST of his is Aldonah Zero, his music really sets the mood in many scenes of that snime

澤野氏がガンダムの音楽を担当するのはハサウェイで3作目となるため、正直マンネリ化しないか不安な面が若干ありましたが、軽く想像を超えてしまいました。素晴らしいです。特にTRACER。

Best composer ever. I love the olders UC animes but this dude made something remarkable, his style is unique.
The soundtrack for unicorn was amazing. His Magnus opus ... Felt he was never able to reach those heights of unicorn again . Not saying he went downhill, just his work for unicorn was so amazing.

You can really see how free spirited he is, from the way he answered the interviewer's question, to how he shared his composing inspiration, by simply doing his very own Sawano thing that still fits Shuko Murase-san's Hollywood vision for this movie and not being influenced by past titles.

Hathaway is by far the best Gundam movies. I like that it is related to the past and more realistic/adult.
I respect that he can went back to listen to the old Gundam soundtracks from various composers.

You have a mastery over commanding emotion in music that is unparalleled. I am an aspiring writer and am heavily influenced by works such as Attack on Titan and Gundam Unicorn. If i ever get the opportunity to have my works adapted to anime, you would be the person i would want to compose the soundtrack. Thank you for all of your incredibly hard work, and for your influence on this industry.

He was inspired by Hans Zimmer, Danny Elfman but in many ways he outstands them. Definitely a modern maestro.
His scores for Both UC and Hathaway are some of my favorites. Listening to them makes you feel so many emotions.
Pretty down to earth and humble guy for creating such emotive music. Love it.
The animation and story was pretty good. Hiroyuki Sawano alone just so happens to have the ability to create the world itself with his music and help put you right into the action and suspense when it happens.

I've never watched Gundam in my life and know next to nothing about it, but what they showed of Hathaway looks really good. Is it like a standalone thing or do I need to watch the rest to know what's up?
@@Hellion421 Hathaway's in a unique place. It happens after a few major events and a lot of the story elements rely on things that have happened in the timeline before it. It takes place in the franchise's main and largest timeline so there's a lot of history to it.

Unicorn brought challenge to Sawano-san, AOT, Re:creator, Legend of Galatic Hero, Aldnoah Zero had good vocal ost. If you really want to listen no-vocal yet so emotional orchestral came from Unicorn.
Unicorn was made before all those series so its more that vocals were a bigger challenge for him, and he mastered them
