100%. I honestly prefer the game's rendition of Highway Star over the original - that's VERY high praise. Whenever Tim Follin works on a game, the console's sound chip needs a cigarette after he's done lol.
Sean Durham I'm currently 23 years old and this game influenced my taste in music as well. I always find myself hearing these ost. It was also released the same day I was born.
The Follin bros. did this, if anyone else did it it would not be as good as this, I can guarantee you. You can listen to the soundtrack of Plok if you didn't believe me. Same composer, same great quality found nowhere else on the SNES.
No not yet. I said I'm working on the mod...Maybe I place a video online in a couple of days first. I'm testing and searching for other stuff to use as well, like "start race screen" (with the traffic-light and the F/X in it) pictures from the original game, also working on a full "Larry 'Supermouth' Huffman" voice-comment from the SNES, original music from the original artist, making the boss-characters playable characters, making Rip and Shred playable characters and more...So be patient, I'm already working a month on this now, and it costs a lot of my free time. The mod that I'm making is for Motor Rock, not for the original game...You must buy the game via the Yard-website and then play it via Steam, as you might know...
Father born in 80, and i in 01, this sound track was a massive influence on me from birth really. I'm grateful he kept his snes, it had such good games to grow up with. Chrono trigger, Doom, the Mario's of course. Nostalgic Af
***** Honestly, I can't call myself a fan of any of them. I haven't listened to actual rock in a long time. I heard the Deep Purple version of Highway Star on the radio a couple of weeks ago and it just pales in comparison to the R&RR version to me. If I really had to pick out of them regardless, probably ZZ Top.
its done by one of the follin brothers. they are known to do the absolute best quality music that is possible on the hardware they are working on. so its no surprise that this is the best sounding snes soundtrack i ever heard.
00:00 - Bad to the bone (George Thorogood) 02:25 - Paranoid (Black Sabbath) 05:30 - Highway Star (Deep Purple) 10:36 - Peter Gunn (Henry Mancini) 13:32 - Born To Be Wild (Steppenwolf) Missing song: Radar Love (Golden Earring) *Only in Mega Drive
It's amazing to hear which songs were used in this game at the time. I remember as a kid thinking how cool the music was but never actually knowing any of these songs as I was too young. Bad ass!!
Blizzard headquarters in 1992: "Hey man, we only got money for like 2 songs. You better pick some good stuff" Its 2019 and I have to say: they choose well.
I've always loved the renditions they did for Paranoid, Highway Star and Born to be Wild. I've played this game back in the 90s and it greatly influenced my taste in music. It was and still is an Awesome game!
Amazing how close these are to the originals, coming out of the SNES. Especially Highway Star. I just started playing the RNRR hacked expansion recently and it's like a reliving a piece of my childhood.
0:00 George Thorogood - Bad to the Bone 2:25 Black Sabbath - Paranoid 5:30 Deep Purple - Highway Star 10:36 Henry Mancini - The Peter Gunn Theme 13:30 Steppenwolf - Born to be Wild
OMG THANKS, I just came after listen the megadrive version and OMG... there's no colour and the worst is that there are people truly believing that the megadrive version is superior and the people that they prefer this one have no taste... This soundtrack is amazing, the quality of the samples and the music is like CD quality.
top ten in my bookmarks... shame we missing radar love but still amazing post. there is lovely radar love lady's version going around you tube though. I would wish we have more ideas nowadays..
That is one of the best Games for "where is the best Driver" 😋 we was 12 Years old and play this from morning to Morning xD Mother says u are crazy Guys. 👉 best time of my Live😎😁😁
E amigo , e qual a diferença o seu video tem minutos a mais ? Que eu saiba quem veio pela indicação do zangado viu o mesmo video que você , pra que desmerecer !
One of the first games with licensed soundtrack. As an Amiga fan I'm pissed off that this game wasn't released on the Amiga too. With Amiga's top notch sound chip it could blow us away.
ROADKILL scores a first place knock out!
OLAF finishes in second
SNAKE takes a weak third
Jake is in another time zone
звездец, а я думал, что это там бормочит, спасибо чувак!!
RIP IS ABOUT TO BLOW!
ROADKILL JAMS INTO FIRST!!
TARQUIN wipes him out!!!
Hawk should AVOID mines!
The quality of the drum programming gives me chills knowing it's coming from a SNES.
That's just the modus operandi of the Follin brothers. High quality music and musical instruments from 1-bit, 4-bits, 8-bits, and 16-bits machines.
blows my mind how good these covers sound, technical limitations turned into an artform
100%. I honestly prefer the game's rendition of Highway Star over the original - that's VERY high praise. Whenever Tim Follin works on a game, the console's sound chip needs a cigarette after he's done lol.
This games soundtrack influenced my taste in music as a young teenager and I still love playing this game at 35.
Sean Durham I'm currently 23 years old and this game influenced my taste in music as well. I always find myself hearing these ost. It was also released the same day I was born.
same bros
Exactly!
super nintendo emulator ftw
We have that in common , boys!!! 33 here! Became a musician by trade and partly give this game credit!!!
RIP Geoff Follin. Thank you for this banging soundtrack 🙏
These are some great 16-bit renditions!
The Follin bros. did this, if anyone else did it it would not be as good as this, I can guarantee you. You can listen to the soundtrack of Plok if you didn't believe me. Same composer, same great quality found nowhere else on the SNES.
This game's rendition of Highway Star is so good. **SO GOOD**
oh yeah
This game SO deserves a remake! So many hours spent having a blast with friends. Such a fun game.
+Drew Bannister Motor Rock is the closest thing to a remake, and I'm working on a mod for it to bring it back to it's classic state ;)
Great to hear! Have a link to your mod?

There was a remake that got put onto Steam, but it got DMCA'd (russian developer; no concept of copyright laws).
doubt they could do it justice unless they get the rocket league guys and go all out on the concept
THE STAGE IS SET, THE GREEN FLAG DROPS!
i wish so fkn bad to go back in time.... shit like movies and games are so empty and feelingless today days ;/
let the Carnage begin!!!!😠😠😠

cool
Funny to think about the fact that the early Blizzard Entertainment made this game!
0:00 Bad to the Bone
2:26 Paranoid
5:29 Highway Star
10:36 Peter Gunn
13:32 Born to be Wild
Favorite song from R&RR? Highway Star.
Favorite song in general? 大人のオオカミ by Kokia
***** Honestly, I can't call myself a fan of any of them. I haven't listened to actual rock in a long time. I heard the Deep Purple version of Highway Star on the radio a couple of weeks ago and it just pales in comparison to the R&RR version to me.

Can't say I have. Of Highway Star?
Suckynewb Mega Drive version has a worse sound, one more song plus some exclusive Larry phrases, like he describing the ranking of the race.
+Suckynewb do you know that songs or you ask for it on internet?
the best part of this it sounds so great you can not think it is on a SNES
its done by one of the follin brothers. they are known to do the absolute best quality music that is possible on the hardware they are working on. so its no surprise that this is the best sounding snes soundtrack i ever heard.

It's in the description of the video lol
MY GAME FOREVER, I'm 40 and still playing it .
Let The Carnage Begin!
The Born to be Wild final solo is what makes this theme in special so awesome in the game
It's just not the same without the explosions and the badass narration.
there's an interview with the narrator on youtube, his name is larry huffman.

7:17 you couldn't do a better job on the Highway Star midi with a modern synth if you tried. Still fucking unreal, 20+ yrs later...
Tim Follin was a wizard.
It's not MIDI but good point
If you or I tried, no. But if Tim Follin tried, I bet he could.
right in the childhood!
Blizzard headquarters in 1992: "Hey man, we only got money for like 2 songs. You better pick some good stuff"

Blizzard before they were Blizzard

Follin brothers are VGM gods, that's why. Nobody could make the SNES' guitar sounds so similar to an actual electric guitar like them.
LET THE CARNAGE BEGING!
0:00 George Thorogood - Bad to the Bone
2:25 Black Sabbath - Paranoid
5:30 Deep Purple - Highway Star
10:36 Henry Mancini - The Peter Gunn Theme
13:30 Steppenwolf - Born to be Wild
I play this game up until this day and will always rock out to the soundtrack!
OMG THANKS, I just came after listen the megadrive version and OMG... there's no colour and the worst is that there are people truly believing that the megadrive version is superior and the people that they prefer this one have no taste...
This soundtrack is amazing, the quality of the samples and the music is like CD quality.

Get ready to rock again everyone, because this game including a definitive edition of it, is coming to nintendo switch and Xbox!

There's so many SNES Classics that deserves remakes and this is definitely one of them
One of my favorite games back then ;)
That is one of the best Games for "where is the best Driver" 😋 we was 12 Years old and play this from morning to Morning xD Mother says u are crazy Guys. 👉 best time of my Live😎😁😁
THIS WAS A KICK ASS GAME :)
So this is what "Song that may play when you fight Sans" reminded me. My happy childhood.
Loved this whole game and everything about it growing up

Zangs
man oh man what a sound track i still think this is the GOAT such a fucking good game!
Zangado é FODA! o/
this is easy the best game soundtrack ever.
This is the SNES version - Genesis had all these songs IIRC, as well as Radar Love by Golden Earring.
Let the carnage begin. 🤘🏼
So there was no Radar Love on the SNES? That's a shame, it was my favorite on Genesis.
Vim por mim mesmo, não pelo Zangado
Eu tambem.
Quem é zangado? :)
E amigo , e qual a diferença o seu video tem minutos a mais ? Que eu saiba quem veio pela indicação do zangado viu o mesmo video que você , pra que desmerecer !
Daggermouth porra! de que planeta tu é? hahaha

Thanks from Brazil for this pearl
Paranoid and Highway Star in one game!? FUCK!! SIGN ME UP!!
let the carnage BEGIN!!!!!!
This game was sick as hell!!! love it!!!!
The stage is set! The green flag drops!
It's hard to believe there's less than 20' of soundtrack for this game.
But damn, that's some good quality 20 minutes
uff highway star sounds so GOOD!!!!!!
I loved/hated this game because I could never win against my older brother. We always played it on the toughest too, good memories!
Well then...looks like I have some new ringtones to choose from...if only someone would call once in a while :/
The SNES' sound chip (provided by Sony before they broke up) could crank out some really good music.
Only because of the Follin bros. touch. Not even giants of VGM like Kondo, Koshiro, or Uematsu are able to make the SNES sounds as good as this.
@Capri
Nope. He still has fart electric guitars like so many other composers.
ae #zangado vlw por apresenta essas otimas musicas para seus inscritos ^^
One of the first games with licensed soundtrack. As an Amiga fan I'm pissed off that this game wasn't released on the Amiga too. With Amiga's top notch sound chip it could blow us away.
