I also think Cheslin has been so busy with rugby that it would have been good to have Edwil play after his storming debut. Hmmmm... Too many changes for me. I like Morne VDBerg but I would have started Williams and put MvdB on the bench. Also, I don't rate Fassi. His defensive work is just not good enough. Slaman and Ruan? No, should have stared them with Eben or RG just to keep a firm hand on the young ones.

I'm astounded that Moerat has been given the captain's armband ahead of PSTD, Am, Kriel and Kolbe. However, I assume this is to give those guys time to work their magic away from the ref.
Apart from that, this is a very, very unusual team. It's more experimental than the side we put out against Portugal. It may well backfire, in which case Rassie needs to take the blame.

Its a long competition. Resting players for future games is good management. But its a mistake to underrate te ausies. They. Are are hitting back. So is the all blacks.

It's irritating that it's likely to be a wet test. Weather tends to negate the contest to some extent. It's the great equalizer.
Man when i first saw the team sheet i thought what the f*********ck is Rassie doing! We made so many errors against the Wobbles in that last match, we need to the guys to play more together and iron out those kinks before the ABs games in SA.
But after listening to Rassie in the presser, and hearing other guys talk about it, the more comfortable im getting with the idea of this squad. Maybe not as risky as i first thought, specially with the experience on the bench. Will be very interesting to see how this plays out. But, if we lose....

@@OndelaQondo-v3b Yeah Kriel and Kolbe off need some rest , PTSD as well. I think Fassi should stay on 15 for the whole match. Grant Williams can replace Kolbe, so Morne plays a full 80, and Grant at 14. I think this would allow us to use Grant like how they used Cheslin last week, wing/scrum half.

Having paid good money for a ticket to watch my favourite Bokke I feel ripped off by getting what is barely even a 2nd side. Not at all. They are building player versatility. Am & Esterhuizen is a combination they wanted to try. Am & Kriel is new. I'm curious if we'll see Kriel & Pollard or Am & Pollard in this match.
We also have Sacha, Moodie, and Willemse as possible centres.... And maybe Kwagga.
Who they select will depend on opposition and game plan.
Not sure how future opponents prepared for Springboks if this is how much a line up can change in a week.

Rassie is planning for the 2027 World Cup, it's called forward thinking. Why must he care about Australia, that's not his job.
That's still not a weak team though. The springboks can field 2 teams to play against each other and there would be no clear winner. That's how much depth is there. Even without considering guys down with injury like Damian Willimse.
