looking lovely but personally i would leave the wood natural it looks mellow 😊
Me too. Too much white is overwhelming sometimes. Contrast is much better when everything else around is white too!!
The drain pan area looks fabulous!! I love the way you worked out the cuts! 👍🏼 please don’t paint all the wood - what about just some Osmo? The natural color looks great with the walls!
Osmo is a good idea (in condition it's going to be redone in few years of course...). The color could repeat the color of the floor in the house.
Osmo the wood.
I wouldn't paint the wood.
Oh! The natural wood would look so much better against the stone. Try some stain/sealant on the cover.
Put lights under the wood hiding pipes in garde patio
Don't paint the wood white. It will look clinical. You want a more Mediterranean look with plants.
Although I favor white ceilings, if everything else is white the natural wood might be a good contrast. Just don't stain it to be darker than it already is.
@@Bobrogers99 yea, maybe a faded white or egg shell.
Definitely leave it unpainted the organic wood much nicer.
Agree totally.
Paint what we call Pickle it.
Thank you, you two ❤, anna should have shown us her new hair.
Love the outdoor space 🎉.
I can see it with some nice plants xxx
Well done 🎉🎉🎉🎉😊
Stunning tiling Eddy is very talented skilled worker
The wood work would look lovely varnished.
I agree with the other comments of not painting the wood and using osmo/varnish. Would have also loved to see Anna’s haircut 😍😘
Ed, you both are such REAL people that I feel myself relaxing and letting my anxiety just melt away.. Thank you for your videos. I really enjoy them.
Thank goodness that fugly drain pipe is covered up now, it bugged me. lol! You guys should do a budget recap as well when you do progress report next time! It’s coming along & looking great! Cheers Kirk
Leave it unpainted more organic, less glaring in the Summer sun. Just Osmo.
I actually like how the unpainted wood looks! But when you have a vision of how you want it to look, that is important! It will be nice either way!
As always you put your heart in what you make, beautiful job. Hug from Sintra
Brilliant work but I wanted to see Anna's hair too!! 😊
Fantastic dont paint that lovelt wood maybe some sirt of lighting to add atmosphere Looking good young Ed 🎉❤🎉❤
So pretty outside! I was thinking a little water statue of some kind would be beautiful out there and slightly cover traffic sounds?
Just a suggestion, leave the wood natural, as white would look messy very quickly. Especially with hanging plants that need to be watered. Or you could stain it, even if you stain it a light colour, the texture and grain of the wood with the stone would look warm and cozy.
it would be criminal to paint the natural beauty of the wood. have you thought of just varnishing it. i bought some osmo on billys recommendation for my work tops and its a fantastic product, but there are cheaper varnishes out there too. the outside/living part of the garden is looking fabulous. can't wait to see the 1year one to remind us of all the hard work you and loui has put into the building
I would leave the ceiling and the wood box natural.. it compliments the tiles and the setting
The wood looks fabulous against the stone, makes for a really interesting contrast in textures.
You did such a wonderful job. The house is really shaping up. I really like how the natural wood matches the stone.
Why lose that gorgeous grain wood? What a shame.
The White will clash with the tiles.
I'm sort of surprised that you didn't power washed the facade of the building on both sides of the street. Next to the crisp white paint, you can see the 100 years of dirt and smog accumulation on that sandstone.
Looking good! Suggest you wait a year before you stain that pressure treated wood, otherwise you will experience premature "flaking and bubbling" where residual moisture is trapped.
As much as I love white interiors, there is something truly unique about the wooden ceiling and the plant area you created for Anna. Have you considered using a clear outdoor sealant on the wooden areas instead of painting? I also think that having all that white may be somewhat blinding due to the sunshine in that area. Either way...I cannot wait to see it all completed! You have done a marvelous job creating a beautiful area out of nearly nothing. 🙂. I
I’m gonna have to say you did a fantastic job. I’m very impressed.
Thought you would have used secret nailing/screws on those boards
I would suggest not painting it and just sealing it. Looks so nice as wood.
Terrace looks inviting ❤ Oh and the other Juliette balcony is on ❤
The house is coming along well. Take care of your back, Edd. Anna, you sound much better, thankfully. Edd, I won't say don't paint the ceiling because I know you have great taste. I can tell you have great taste because you married Anna!😂❤
Everything is looking beautiful, but Ed needs another Leo or Souel to help so back can last. And by the way, I bet Anna's hair was beautiful.
I agree with many others--don't paint the wood. Love the natural look with the render and tile. If you want to lighten/seal it, how about a "white-wash" that allows the wood grain/tones to show through....but not white white, a color to match the render. Just my opinion.....♥
The front looks nice now. It will be stunning when the door is in.
The natural wood looks good with those tiles. I would not paint it, just Osmo for protection.
Osmo the wood billy uses it a lot it protects the wood outdoors and indoors too
Gorgeous work & design. I REALLY like the natural textures & colors, the carefully chosen color for the stucco work. Even on a cloudy day it's all infused with warmth & sunshine. Good going!
No paint on wood.👍 Property is looking great! 👍🥰👍❣️
WHEN do I move in??????? 😁
A Tonge and Grove ceiling way to go Edd. Being perfectionist just means you are sharpening your skills to the next level up. Edd is a great builder.
It looks great. I would just stain the wood, love the natural look
Yes I agree don’t paint it just stain it guys
Or just clear varnish to protect it 😊
Don’t even know how you carry on alone on these projects!!! You both are just amazing !!! ❤
You make really good decisions, Ed. Your taste and quality of workmanship are of a high standard. Keep trusting your visions. May you make a rewarding profit from it.
White will be lovely accent and bring some brightness to inside! Except progress and video! Thank you for sharing! No reveal for Anna's hair?😊❤🎉👍🥰
I drove by the house Tuesday 24.09, on my way from Bordeaux to Donostia. It looks great!
We absolutely love what you are doing on this project. We are in Bordeaux now and enjoying it immensely. If anything brings us back here, it will be this project. Thank you for taking us on this journey! ❤
Don’t paint it glossy white. Dry brush Matt white maybe
Looks good that Ed /Anna, perhaps natural is a better option but down to you, its yours. Most people will be looking down into their drink, I would think! Lol. Stay well you two.
Painting the tongue and groove ceiling white is the way to go! I had originally left mine timber finish and when I painted them white it lightened up the whole area. It will look fabulous!!!
Love the transformation of the court yard.
Gloss outside will bounce light around and not look to good. Satin better
I would Osmo the wood to make a contrast with the stucco, but whatever Anna wants.
On camera the ceiling looks good as it is ,seems to match the tiles???
Looking forward to the spoiler vlog. You have transformed the building.m👏👏
Next time paint the wood before placing it.
If you paint after and the wood shrinks, you will see the woodcolour in the grooves.
Hi Edd an Anna it’s all coming together now ,can’t wait to see it finished lv Ann uk ❤️❤️❤️🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Ah, Edd and Anna, the chocolate-box is moving along, and looking luscious. I agree with other comments. Do not paint the wood, but Osmo for rich elegance that complements the stone. White will look like a lab or industrial site, and discount all your jewel-like, custom finishes. Perhaps a light, creamy butter-yellow shade (capturing the same yellow found in the stones), but avoid white at all costs or the friendly, inviting, homely feeling may be lost. Clinical-looking colors (whites and blues) leave one feeling cold and unwelcome, and provide little comfort, no matter what some may say. Perhaps when you said white you meant "whitish" (light yeĺlowish), and I misunderstood. OK, then.
The white shutters outside are OK, but inside, next to your elegant, classy stonework, I think, you will silently, but surely, diminish the monetary and emotional returns that you are seeking, after having spent so much thus far, trying to attract the high value and confirmation you are seeking, from your renters/occupiers of this magical space. Even white ceilings, not colored with a bit of wall colors added to the stock white, miss the mark.
A high-quality interior designer would never use "just white" (though hundreds of shades of white are available), under most conditions,
unless it matched the background wallpaper or appliance white (but then, matching the precise white).
This adorable, remarkable chocolate-box looks marvelous, so far!!!
Your tall, blue door will be the jewel on the crown, appearing as if a jeweller has set a sapphire in its blue or black metal setting. I can't wait.
Glad the neighbors stopped putting their trash bins in front of the Town Home.
How is Louis shop going? I agree with Anna Ed you are a perfectionist lol, walls should be pale blue or seafoam green, white has too much glare
seeing your vision come alive i don't know how your mind works edd but by golly it's good .Painting the ceiling white i agree with it will keep it lovely and light ♥️
Ed, use a tool belt( just a suggestion) love your work 🙏🏻🇬🇧
Great job again! Like someone else has said, I like the idea of keeping the wood its natural color, just a seal! Think it’ll look nice when all is said and done!
Not good to have to do this kind of work without assistance. Can take twice as long. Shame there isn't a youngster around who could be a go'fer for you. Take care and good luck with the rest of the woodwork.
Who wouldn’t love to live there! Going to be cozy and lovely place.
I'm a big fan of travertine and wood. Looks gorgeous!
Ed looked so Regal sitting up on his Throne!
Of course 👑 🤴 🤣🤣🤣
Such a great space for summer & winter ! The house is going to be gorgeous 😊
I agree with everyone else about osmo or varnish for the wood.
Painting the ceiling and walls white will bring so much light in.
I agree with everyone else. Don’t paint the wood! It looks awesome as is
How's Louis doing? Miss seeing him.
He is working hard!!
Excellent work as usual! ❤
Tip: you should always cut both ends of a board before attaching. Unless the board happens to be the correct length and straight ended. You want two board ends on each piece of strapping so their ends are solidly attached and not hanging.
Is that travertine on the outside bench/seat and floorsection?
Yes...they used it at their previous property too.
Yep
❤😊wow that looks great😊
Everything looks great! I'm in Florida watching the hurricane go by!😮😮
I agree with other commenters. Natural wood finished with oil would look fabulous.
👉 Sorry if I'm repeating something anyone else has said but I think you should put the internal clasps on the inside of the kitchen shutters, even though you're never going to be able to close them from the inside, but just for the symmetry and appearance. ❤️🏘️❤️
Ed what about
Your back. The
Ceiling looks
Spectacular, an
White will be over
The top. You an
Anna work so very
Hard😊
Ed is sitting there contemplating life! HaHa! Hope all of you are well! Thomas! This place is looking great!
Edd… you should be using a pneumatic 16 gauge finish nailer. The nail goes diagonally through the tongue of the T&G paneling and is thereby hidden from view. Better than any face nailing or screw.
Looks like a carpenter's apron would be handy with a loop to hold the hammers down the pockets for the screws...just an observation.
Edd, the tiles look wonderful, even around the drain! You did a great job!
I've taken to hanging my glasses from the neck of my shirt. They're just cheap reading glasses off Amazon. I think they were five pairs for under $25. I put a pair in the car, the kitchen, the bedroom, the living room, and in my purse. I still walk around with a pair hanging from my
t-shirt! Lol.
The ceiling looks really attractive. I like the wood.
Hey
I have watched your videos from the first video. You really have a good eye on what you want. I really enjoy watching your videos.
Looking forward to the next one.🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
I wish you wouldn't have to paint the wood. It's looking so warm and cozy and beautiful with the wooden floorboards. Never the less your work is as always mind blowing. You are so talented. Good job to both of you. Such hard workers.
You need a tool belt😊
Ed, I'd like to think towards the end of that video, when you started to explain all that things that you wanted to be right & complete was, in fact, that you really liked Anna's hair do! You are a perfect match, Love you guys;)
Looking great Ed & Anna. The neighbours must be very happy you're renovating this place. Well done. Love hearing you Anna, would like to have seen your beautiful hair😅🧡🎶❣️
So, the front door. You did have an antique door that needed sandblasting and painting. I remember you saying that was expensive but it has to be cheaper than purchasing a huge new door, right? Or did that door not fit properly and needed to be reworked, which would be costly? I can’t quite remember now. Hope Louis is doing well. Tell Anna that we women want to see her hair. Looking forward to seeing your next video!!
A sliding bevel gauge would help set the angle on your compound bevel saw, so then to gain a bit of efficiency. !! Looking good though, Anna does a great job videoing and you come up with nice simple solutions. Good luck👍
The wood looks beautiful without paint, just my opinion. It will be beautiful no matter what you decide!❤
Wow the terrace looks so very good Edd!!! The drain looks great! Wow, that is a nice gift, very handy. You have gotten so much accomplished by yourself Edd. Miss Louie! Hope his business is going well. The tongue and groove ceiling looks good. It was a very sad place when you first showed it to us. Amazing all that you all have done and it is going to be a lovely home for someone. I like the pride you take in all that you all do. All the best! lol lol He is sitting down on the job!!! lol lol Love the ceiling!!!
Will be nice to see the before and after video. There are also various transparencies of colored stains. I’ve been using opaque stains on wood that look just like paint. White, green, etc. Less upkeep. (I am mentioning for any others that are tired of peeling paint!) But it will look good whatever you do. You’ve got the vision and its been a success.
Looks great.
By painting the wood in white Ed it's going to be more harmonious with the front of the house. It's going to be less «High maintenance» also. The ceiling there is going to look higher also. An other option, you can do it also with Osmo with few coats to protect it better. You are at the better place to decide. :)
In the box on the wall outside, why not add some ambient LED lights in there as an uplight?
