I'm rather surprised they gave it a 5/3 loadout. I was honestly expecting 4/4. While it's not looking GREAT (from a loadout perspective), it's looking good. And I can live with that.
I have a very silly torp build on the Leg Akira. It's all Torpedoes, the weapons, the consoles, the traits, even some personal traits. Anything I can get an extra torpedo from goes on that build.
I can't wait to get my paws on this sweetie. There is enough potential to play around with and my new Character needs a new main boat anyway so this beauty shows up at the right time. :3

Running an Eagle Torpedo build myself. Looking forward to checking out the trait from this ship. It's got to have some kind of cd as I'm spamming torps every 0.5 seconds
When I saw the stats for this ship, I said "Oh that's cool! You can get Concentrate Firepower III and Recursive Shearing III on this, that's great". But after you said you didn't like the placement of the Tac/Command seat and I thought about it, I understood why and came to the same conclusion about switching the Tac and Science seats. I'm also not that upset about the console layout - it makes it equally good for Isomags or Vulnerability Locators, so it's more accessible for everyone Nevertheless, the fact that the layout is pretty great beyond that is nice, especially for a free ship and one that a lot of people have been waiting for. It seems like a fun ship to fly, so I might have to give it a shakedown before hopping back into my Sagan 😊
The Universal Console seems like it's gonna be a fun addition to my EPG/Torp captain's vulcan squid =D Launch out my anomalies and fire this web off to the clustered bunch. Be fun to test out. Though I can see the ship iteself being decently useful as a FAW tank with Sup Barrage 1 and a lower lvl FAW mode (Ba'ul Weapons buffed from ISOmags should take care of the dmg/aggro magnet side)
It's a good ship to get, will be fun for new players. Gives us another good admiralty card. Really I can't complain at all about this because I am pretty darn happy with it. I get the top end players are more critical, I am not a top tier player so I am not as discerning. I just want to have fun and this will be fun. Checks all my boxes.
Thanks for this overview. I plan on getting it. I love the looks of it, and yeah, I do agree about the Bridge Seating, but it is versatile enough to make some decent builds, no doubt.
Personally, I see some Intrepid, Nova, Sovereign, and Vesta influence in the styling. Hope they keep that set of inspirations for future ships. It looks like my Starfleet Delta Recruit finally found their ship, and they are my phaser character already. Also... FREE SHIP!
She'll play well. Even with Command seat being where it is, this ship will be able to pull off a good amount of variety of build styles. It'll be like a more versatile Gagarin. If you like battlecruisers, you'll like this.
Well I like it looks. I Can at least run 5 Isomags and one colonly tactical consol. I always run at least one energy torpedo. It has synergy with my phaser build so it works for me all the way up to elite TFO's. The only time I don't use my agony Torpedo is on science ships. Less weapons so all beams for that.
I wonder if they'll offer the original textures for ship customization (the secondary hull was crap, but the double nacelles were cool and the saucer, while low poly, had a nice shape). I'd like to mix n' match.
The only thing really wrong with the secondary hull is windows on the aft end sides which are over....nothing, you rotate around the end of the hull and its that hollow space for the shuttle bays, there's nothing behind that area to have a window into.
Meh i like it and will fly it. I base what i fly on looks and ehats fun. I dont follow meta or high damage builds i fly and play for fun. and no i dont do torp builds. I use a forward torp andaft torp because space barbie haha but i dont say mean things about torp builds 😅
This looks interesting. I may finally get around to progressing something other than the T6 Ferengi ship I've been using. I will lament loosing access to the bank, mail, and Dabo from the bridge, though. :-)

Then again, the one major drawback of the Ferengi bridge is that that's *all* of the internals...no engine room, rec deck, etc. Which does hamper showing off trophies/ship models (which seems a little odd for Ferengi...you'd think they's *want* to be able to show that off, the GPL stuff especially), and the secondary DOFF stuff that doesn't show up in the main menu (Bartending/Chef, etc.) Either that, or I've missed the access to those entirely for the whole time I've used the ship. :-/
While im ok with the boff and console layout, i do feel that they did the ship dirty by dropping it to a battle cruiser. The typhoon npc was starfleets dreadnought before the Galaxy X was brought into the game.
Not to sound like a smart ass but have you considered they just are trying to give ships for different niches and to be interesting not just the same perfectly optimized design over and over again with ships not everything is gonna be meta or optimal what matters is if it's fun
Yes, but as someone who is familiar with most of those niches, this ain't that. This is more of an example of Borticus' "not every ship can be good" mentality. I get the need to change things up a bit for the sake of being different (you can do so many different combinations for seating a specs), but this doesn't fill any kind of niche, all this does is force you to chose which you want more, Command seating or Tactical seating.
Agreed. Most the times I don't fly ships based on stats or seating it's mostly based on what's fun and what looks nice. Not everyone plays for the meta or to be crazy damage.

Honestly... If this thing had the command on another slot it would beat out practically everything except maybe the world razor. I think while the flaw is annoying, it may be even intended, and why not - if every new ship is meta then at some point they would have to turn the power creep screw again - which is already way beyond too much. On top, Command is not a thing for most of the casual player base anyway - it's got little impact in pugs or story content. And as you said yourself - 'expletive deleted' torpedo builds (and tanking for that matter). I'm more happy about decent maneuverability in combination with a pretty sturdy ship from the stats and package. With Dual Heavies could give this a real battlecruiser feel. That and the 5+3+temp+space barbie will make this likely a very good ship to have, so stop complaining already ;)
This might be a dumb thing to say, but I always saw ships like the Typhoon, Nobel, and the old Jupiter class as a reflection of old STO's theme. Dark, blocky, and spooky looking.
I think you're massively overstating the command seating issue. It's a mark against the ship but it's not a crippling issue and the fact you can get CF3 and RS3 makes it extremely potent for a torpedo build. This ship is really nice. I'm impressed by it.

That ship trait looks interesting. Do the micro charges count as torpedoes themselves? Or are the untyped kinetic damage? What traits do they interact with? One of my first thoughts is the Terrain Eagle escort might have synergy woth this. The Federation has assimilated the Tholian web technology. Angle off the Bow might work well with this. Does the trait stack with the Terrain Task Force Secondary Launchers ability? Can I get 3-4 shots for the price of one?
Impossible to know until we get our hands on the trait. I'm betting they'll count as Kinetic damage, so some things will trigger for them, but others won't. Testing will have to be done with the ship is available.
Tail looks rather Vesta to me. What bugs me more is the ‘person’ hogging 8mil zen in the exchange, when there are so many players out there waiting to convert dil.
I don't recall that about the Typhoon. It's a Cryptic original design, even before they started outsourcing ship art like they often do these days, so it would've been done by whoever was on the game's ship art team at the time.
Promote all your BOffs to commander, and train them on all the skills. If you've played for a while you'll be able to do that with no issues. It's just tedious.

I am glad we are seeing this new trend for event ships continue.
Outside of the Mudd's bundle, no. It's extremely unlikely that they'll make those available in any other way after the release of that bundle. Which sucks, because I know many who only missed one or two, and don't want to spend Mudd's bundle money for them. It was a really bad move on STO's part, and I hope they realize that, but they very rarely change past decisions like that.
Forget the command shit and use it as a temporal cruiser, would be my advice... but I don't really care either way, because i am an intel freak... but since its free, i probably pick it up.. i don't get the 1.4 hull designation anyway, what does that mean ?... 140.000 hull or something ?... i thought they never go above 81-83.000 max or something. I do wish they made a universal statement about hull strength. not 1,4 the one time and 64000 the other... its confusing...

Yes, all both of them (not counting Transport Warhead, since this ship can't use it). I highlighted High Yield when talking about a Torpedo build on this ship because that's the firing mode you'd want to use in such a situation.
I don't ignore it, I just don't get it from the seating. I trigger it with Entwined Tactical Matrices so I can get two quick torp spread 1's (by activating FaW and CSV) that don't share a cooldown with the High Yield in my boff seating.

Personally, I'm excited to get it. I agree about the seating being a little sub-optimal but I'm very happy with its overall design.
I hope she at leasts plays well. Stats mean nothing if the ship can't live up to the hype. She is definitely a good looking ship.

These days you can use any bridge you have access to on any ship you own, so you should be able to put the Ferengi bridge on his (or any ship).

Ok I've been playing for a while but still kind of lost. If a station is a lt station should you not promote the officer on it to lets say commander?

Forget the command shit and use it as a temporal cruiser, would be my advice... but I don't really care either way, because i am an intel freak... but since its free, i probably pick it up.. i don't get the 1.4 hull designation anyway, what does that mean ?... 140.000 hull or something ?... i thought they never go above 81-83.000 max or something. I do wish they made a universal statement about hull strength. not 1,4 the one time and 64000 the other... its confusing...

YES, THIS SHIP UNLOCKS ON YOUR WHOLE ACCOUNT.
TO CLAIM IT ON ANOTHER CHARACTER OPEN THE EVENTS MENU, CLICK RECLAIM REWARDS ON THE LOWER LEFT, AND IT SHOULD BE IN THE SHIPS TAB.

If it were a paid ship it would be ignored.
If it were a lockbox or promo ship, yes. But I think this would still be pretty popular as a cstore ship.
It would be nice if the lifetime subscriber's got this ship for free. If the sto community had been waiting for the ship ..... just give it to the community for free instead of us jumping through hoops. If it goes into mudds market I'll buy it then.
There are more torpedo firing modes than HY bruh.
Yes, all both of them (not counting Transport Warhead, since this ship can't use it). I highlighted High Yield when talking about a Torpedo build on this ship because that's the firing mode you'd want to use in such a situation.
@Stu1701 Its crazy to me how many people ignore TS. Clump them, SIA, build entropy, TS, artillery barrage. So many options.
Two Maelstroms, Grav, Neut, Disc Dual beam up front. Dyson, dark matter torp, and Alt omni in the back.... I can't wait to run this
I don't ignore it, I just don't get it from the seating. I trigger it with Entwined Tactical Matrices so I can get two quick torp spread 1's (by activating FaW and CSV) that don't share a cooldown with the High Yield in my boff seating.
