    You make it look easy! Guess it's experience and preparation.

      Well thank you! I think we timed the conditions right. These entrances can be really tricky. But if the weather conditions are good it is not really a problem.😀

    Great video guys! Being a bit scared makes you prepare yourself, and contributes to you succes! Did the incident with the squalls on the previous crossing made you guys extra cautious? Looked like a very varied crossing! Hope to see more of the atol you are in! Keep it up

      No we were not worried about the squalls. Especially cause we did not have the chance anymore to fly our parasailor. A squall with our white sails is no problem.
      A squall is just exhausting🙃

    Very good to see how you prepare to go to the atols. I can imagine that it feels scary for the first time. And interesting to see that squals also come from te front. Keep up the good sailing. I love your video’s. And I guess that Liz needs some more time to tell about her experience as a little circumnavigator too.

      Hahaha she amazes us from time to time. One day she yells and is very loud and the other day she will translate one of our sentences in english😅

    Very fascinating being able to sail on the same beam for several days! In the Archipelagos here in Sweden the wind changes constantly... on the other hand no 2-metres waves 😅

      Hahaha yes similar to sailing the netherlands. Although on the north sea we could have 2 m waves😉
      Last trip we had 3 m waves, but as long as the seconds in between them are good. No problemo😃

    I agree this atoll entry is overhyped among boats coming from Europe. I lived in NZ for a long time, and sailed to the atolls from there. Yes there is a lot of current, but I have never seen it be a problem. And you can see where to go. Obviously don't do it at night! But that's all really. Well done.

      Yes and the current is with or against you. We have got harbours in the Netherlands with a strong side current. I found it more challenging. But off course the waves can become pretty nasty at an atoll entrance. But than you timed it qrong and you are not there at slack.😃 BTW, We will probably settle in NZ for a while😀

      @@oschonrock a long lasting dream since we visited NZ back in 2016. Luckily I can get a working visa.
      We are as I type on our way to Bora Bora. Expecting to be in NZ by the end of October.

      @SVTranquillity Ah.. Makes sense. Congrats on the Visa. Enjoy the South Pacific on the way. It's the best IMHO!

    Hi guys! Are you using Navionics? How accurate is this atoll entry app?😮

    • @SVTranquillity
      @SVTranquillity  Год назад

      Yes we used Navionics. We had back up for Open CPN. But with the new update in navuonics you can download satelite images as well. So it works really well on the known atolls.
      Not all of them are well charted with satelite image
