    Please enjoy.
The community of Surfridge and part of Playa Del Rey (Palisades Del Rey) have been removed from the map and indeed, from their physical locations. Surfridge was considered an ideal beachfront community. When the nearby Mines Field became the Los Angeles International Airport, the air traffic was so intense, that the residents were forcibly evacuated and around 800 houses were torn down. What was not torn down were sidewalks, foundations, stairs, streets, lamp posts, plumbing pipes, street signs, sewer systems and other smaller structures. They still exist in the narrow area between Pershing Drive, adjacent to the LAX runways, and Vista Del Mar, along Dockweiler Beach. The area has been fenced off since 9/11 by a chain linked, barb-wired fence. over the years, construction vehicles are slowly covering up the abandoned streets and ruins with dirt and plants, hoping to reestablish the population of the rare El Segundo Blue Butterfly. The public is not allowed through the area, but what is left of Playa Del Playa to the North does have a couple of streets, Trask and Rindge, that continue past the fence and into desolation.
Parking is no longer allowed on Vista Del Mar, so if you wish to see this, you will have to park in the neighborhood to the north and walk down.
Scene from In Time which was filmed in Surfridge (spoiler alert, this is near the end of the film!): • Video
